We absolutely love Dairy Twist! The new owners have poured their hearts into improving each year and continue to blow my mind with the new creative ideas they are implementing. The staff is always helpful and as a former soft serve server (way back in the day ) I appreciate that even with the longest lines they still are ready with a smile. When it comes to the actual ice cream, the selection is ridiculously good and there truly is something for everyone (sugar free, gluten free cones, vegan...etc). It is so creamy and delicious and the menu has a good mix of tried-and-true, conventional flavors, and interesting, new, and unique ones. I chose the blueberry crumble since the seasonal flavors only stay for a limited time. It had a balanced amount of blueberry and crumble, neither flavor overwhelming the other, in a vanilla base. CASH ONLY!!! Overall great staff and large variety of quality ice cream served in good portions. I heard about Dairy Twist from the cover of South shore living (won best ice cream). The menu was overwhelmingly large and the staff was kind when answering my many questions. They were quick and extremely understating when we tried to pay with a card and had to run down the street to get cash from a gas station. I got the mint Oreo and peppermint patty. My mom got mint chip which had a nice mint taste and almond joy which she said was amazing. My mint Oreo was good with nice chocolate cookie pieces and some cream. The peppermint patty had a fresh minty base and the whole peppermint patty's were great but some pieces were crushed and just tasted like chocolate chips making the chocolate a little overpowering. Poor and very slow service Parking is now just crazy! People enter and exit without paying attention and there is no handicapped parking set aside! Previous owners had traffic pattern set to safely allow cars entering from one direction and those leaving from another and set aside spaces for handicapped cars. Forget coming here! So...I came back after my past negative experience in April to give another go around on the hard ice creams. Even though I knew the ice creams were local now after having talked with the owners offline, I wanted to test the person at the counter about where the ice creams came from and make sure it would be a different experience. she didn't know about the specific flavor I was trying because it seems they have different local sources, but did the right thing and asked the owner who was on hand and was actually the one scooping my ice cream. The ice cream I got is delicious as I sit here and write this review. I got the banana, walnut chocolate chip. It is full of all three, chunks of banana, walnuts and rich chocolate pieces. I'm not sure I will be able to try all their flavors as they have lots, but can recommend this flavor and the quality and just the same as their soft serve, the sizes are huge, a small here is a medium to large elsewhere. If you come to dairy twist, it's not all about their excellent soft serve... be sure to check out their hard ice creams too. I'm glad I came back and had a far better experience than the last one and I will be back again often, if it ever stays warm enough outside this season. read more

My daughter has a dairy sensitivity not quite an allergy but enough that she can't have regular ice cream. On finding the Dairy Twist serves vegan ice cream I was ecstatic to be able to come in to try it out. My daughter was thrilled that she got to have her very own ice cream from an ice cream shop on telling them that she had a dairy sensitivity they immediately told me what ice cream's nearby could've caused Cross contamination. Longs lines on warm summer nights but great service. It is also dog friendly, which is a huge bonus. But do not be fooled by all the cars parked along the driveway and Rt. 53. First off, this place is cash-only. Yes, the lines may be a little long. However, just be patient and tolerant of the little screaming kids trying to get their Suburban-driving-soccer-mom's-attention and the gaggle of high school kids. Like other Yelpers have said, the menu is a bit all-over-the-place, but I've noticed that if you just ask for something you really want... chances are they have it or they can make it. I really like the homemade signs and the construction paper artwork. It's a family run business! The ice cream is, in fact, THAT good. The portion sizes are massive. Even just the kiddie size is more than enough for me. I typically get a kiddie size soft serve since the large size would easily put me in a diabetic coma. Bonus for Fido: they have doggie "pup-cups" available; soft serve ice cream and a milkbone. The area around the shop is dog friendly. A summer tradition! read more
