Our visit took place on their fourth day of being open, around 7pm in the evening. I will start with the environment we encountered. It was very, very busy. The lines were long, with a lot of people waiting around for their food that they ordered. After talking to some of the waiting customers, they mentioned that they had been waiting on the upwards of an hour for their order. You could tell the business was "new", and the workers were scurrying around. There was definite disorganization, it seemed. My family and I waited around 15-20 minutes for our orders, which only consisted of ice cream options, aside from apple dumplings. I am hoping they quickly work out the kinks in their procedures, as I would hate to see a great business opportunity go down because of stuff like that. People are not going to be forgiving forever with stuff like this. As for our order: everything was very good. We had a sampling of a little bit of everything. A slushie, a root bear float, a "holy swirl", a sundae, and some apple dumpling sundaes. I have to do a big shout out for the apple dumplings--they were EXCELLENT! If you're a fan of apple dumplings--make sure you try it! Their menu is impressive, with lots of options and goodies. Please see pictures I posted with menu, hours, and hard ice cream options. They also are great about alternative options for those with allergies. Lots of props for what they're trying to do here! I do recommend trying them... just be aware of the wait times currently with them being new. If those apple dumplings and ice cream wasn't so yummy, and I was just basing the review off of the wait issues, their rating would've been a bit less. But, the things we had were great, and if it weren't for the waiting issues, I can see that the place would be a hit! I haven't tried any of the actual food items yet, but will update my review accordingly when the time comes.

They have a nice variety of flavors and almost always have some seasonal specialties. What brought me in the first time was the collaboration with Skyline Chili. I was intrigued how the seemingly odd flavor would taste, but it was pretty decent. It wasn't something I'd order all of the time, but I was glad I tried it. My staple here is probably what they are most known for, the black raspberry chocolate chip. It is perfection. Just enough chips to add that chocolate flavor and texture without it overpowering the raspberry flavor. The staff was wonderful! Attentive, answered questions and they let you sample so you can be sure to be satisfied with your purchase. There is a variety of sizes available, cones, dishes, sundaes etc. You can also get pints and family size servings to go. The inside is welcoming and clean with a cool vibe to it. They also have some Graeter's merch for sale (but they don't push it). I highly recommend a visit here! You won't be disappointed.

I'm usually not the biggest fan of citrus-based desserts, but the lemon meringue pie ice cream blew me away. There was a good balance of bright acidity mixed with pie crumbles without being overly tart. Overall, solid ice cream flavors. I found myself immediately planning the next time I want to go back once the weather is nice again. Although Rita's is generally known for their Italian ice, and although they have way more flavors of Italian ice than custard, I feel like their custard is underrated and may have been the creamiest dessert experience I've had all year. While the line was definitely long, they serve people so quickly that you still get your order in no time. Friendly staff, quick service (despite the high demand), and at $3.50 for a generously sized kids cone, I'd say the prices are very reasonable. Although I did feel there could have been more tables, especially with how popular this location is, the tables they did have looked clean and the general area was well kept. One tricky thing about this location, though, is parking, so what I find easiest is parking across the street and waiting for the walk signal to come on.

Make the customer repeat his order at least twice because the brand new drive-thru intercom system apparently doesn't work very well.. 2. Take the customer's order for a float and then inform them at the window that you're out of vanilla ice cream. Bruster's, the region's ice cream behemoth with their headquarters less than 1/2 mile down the street. Out of vanilla ice cream. Out. Of. Vanilla. Ice. Cream. 3. Ask the customer for their registered phone number or some such without explanation. Please...I just stopped for ice cream. 4. Make sure that the small ice cream in a waffle cone barely reaches the top edge of the cone. This happened last time, too, so maybe there's some new portion policy. This was never an issue at the old location Ice cream should be a happy thing, not the cause of angst.

Here are my ratings for what I bought: Dubai-style chocolate bar - 3.5 stars - I have eaten Dubai chocolate for a while now, and this one was not as authentic and flavorful as one that I ate from New York City, but it was still good. Chocolate-dipped toffee stroopwafel - 5 stars - This stroopwafel tasted like other stroopwafels that I have eaten, and I liked its chocolate dip. Pen's Puck - 4 stars - A solid piece of plain chocolate was in the shape of a Pittsburgh Penguin's hockey puck.

I have been going there for years and its the consistency of these observations that keep me coming back. With that said there is one employee that stands out above the rest. Her name is Cloe and she is wonderful. Always attentive to my requests. Proactive by recognizing deficiencies before they happen. I see that she is quick on her feet at making decisions. Burger was so overdone and tough even my dogs would not eat it. Hot dog bun was stale. Kraut was good but too sweet. Chili cheese fries were ok but forgettable. Shoestring fries and a smattering of chili. Cheese was from a can. Best part was the banana milkshake. Super thick, great banana flavor. Hopefully in five years when I forget the food at this location is awful, I will get another banana milkshake.
