TL;DR: Ice cream shop in Perth selling ice cream from Kawartha Dairy, Central Smith Creamery,…read moreChapman's and Wholesome Farms. They also sell bubble tea. My husband and I did a day trip to Perth as a part of our staycation. Before going, I did some reconnaissance online and searched for gelato/ice cream/frozen yogurt shops and Bananasplitz popped up. They just opened May 12, 2024, so was relatively new when we went in June 2024. They appeared to be the only place selling bubble tea in Perth, so I figured I could get bubble tea or ice cream depending on my mood when we got there. It was so hot that day we were there, and I really struggled with my decision, but when I saw they had a S'mores ice cream, I had to get it. The flavour I got was called S'more Galore and it's from Central Smith Creamery. This is a brand of ice cream that's not readily available in Ottawa so I was glad to have it. I got the one scoop in a regular cone ($5). It was tasty, but the flavour was not marshmallowy enough for me, lol. The ice cream was supposed to be toasted marshmallow-flavour, but it was rather subtle. I did taste the chocolate fudge ripple and the graham cracker crumbs though. I still enjoyed it though ;) My husband got the Black Raspberry Thunder from Kawartha Dairy (also $5 for a regular cone scoop). I was a bit shocked that he didn't get mint chocolate chip, his go-to flavour, lol. He enjoyed his ice cream, which is what matters. However, we can get Kawartha Dairy ice cream in Ottawa by the tub at the grocery store, including the Black Raspberry Thunder flavour, so when I'm at an ice cream shop, I prefer to get something I can't just get anytime, which is why I opted for a flavour from Central Smith Creamery. Service was friendly. However, the person serving our ice cream did not wear gloves and touched the cones with her bare hands and also touched the little chocolate piece she put on top of our ice cream with her bare hands. The saving grace, I guess, was that a different person worked the cash register, so at least the food handler wasn't also handling money. However, I always prefer it when food handlers wear gloves. I chose the soup and salad with pear and beets. Because I am not a pear lover, granny apple slices were cheerfully substituted. The beets were thinly spiraled on the arugula greens and the dressing was light, flavorful and sparing which was ideal for me. We all chose home made ice cream for dessert which was light, flavorful and not overly sweet. The restaurant hours are daily from 11-4 (call to confirm hours) and well worth a visit while you're in Perth Ontario.

We did not go into the convenience store, we just ordered ice cream from the ice cream window. They have both hard ice cream from Nestle and soft serve ice cream. I initially wanted a scoop of Cherry Cola and half a scoop of Apple Pie (you can get 1 scoop, 1 1/2 scoops or 2 scoops), but they ran out of Apple Pie, so I just got a scoop of the Cherry Cola. My husband, the strange man who he is, got a scoop of Heavenly Hash and a scoop of Mint Chocolate Chip in a waffle cone. Now this order in in itself does not make him strange, but in my opinion, if I'm going to an ice cream shop that serves Nestle ice cream, I'm gonna get me a flavour that I can't easily get at the grocery store. We have Heavenly Hash and Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream in our own freezers at home all the time!! I guess he likes what he likes! And as his wife of many years, I should appreciate that and not call him strange, right? Well, I don't necessarily think strange is a pejorative word. My husband knows he's strange, and he owns and rocks it, lol, but I am digressing from this review. I thoroughly enjoyed my Cherry Cola ice cream. The flavour was subtle and it didn't have that effervescent quality that I was hoping for, but it was still very good. And very different from flavours that I can easily obtain at the grocery store. My husband enjoyed his ice cream too, lol. The one thing I did not like was that no prices were listed. So I actually don't know how much each item cost. We paid $9.16 taxes included for 1 single scoop in a regular cone and 1 double scoop in a waffle cone. The serving size was large. My cone was really big. I really liked that in addition to traditional flavours they had unusual/more exotic flavours. Service was friendly and efficient. Lots of free parking in their private parking lot. There are picnic tables nearby where you can sit and eat. They are right next door to George's Fish and Chips.

You can get regular cones, waffle cones or sundays. I'd call this hard ice cream, but very creamy. This is a must stop place in Merrickville when there during the summer. Sometimes we make the trip just for their icecream.
