The kitchen is the same, the layout is different - it's much larger now as they expanded it to the west unit, so it has plenty of seating. The flooring is nice (no longer sticky) and new, and the divider between the old and new spaces is nice and clean. I ordered a glass or orange juice and my wife had coffee. It was breakfast, so I wanted to try their roasted apple fruit pancakes with a side order of sausage patties (the breakfast side orders are on the left side of the sandwich menu by the way), and my wife had their farmer's skillet. Ambiance is a typical family restaurant. Big glass windows in the front, a clean, nice interior with nice comfortable booths, and the service was very good. Our waitstaff checked as to whether the food was good, and if we needed anything several times. The temperature inside wasn't hot or cold. I took my coat off and was comfortable, as did my wife, who is very intolerant to cold. This also had several law enforcement people eating there, which is always a good sign. We'll be back. They have changed up the appearance of the place - adding artwork in the building to tie it into the theme, and some curtains between the counter and the back area where the food is cooked. You walk in, look at the menu, make your order and pay. They will provide you with a pager so when you sit down, you know your food is ready. They will set off the pager and call your pager number out. They then had you a plastic bag or bags (depending on your order size) with your food, and you go back to your table. The bag had napkins, 1 fork and 2 sets of chopsticks in it. We found more of the same in the old buffet cart, which is just south of the drink dispenser. With the logistics handled, let's talk about the food. There is the Hibachi section, where they have Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Salmon, Scallops, Vegetable and Filet Mignon, along with combinations of those. There is the Special Yatta section, which has combinations of Hibachi Chicken and California Roll, with a drink. There is a noodle combo section with all sorts of noddle combos, and then they have a respectable sushi section with 29 different rolls available in "basic", "Special" and "Traditional" varieties. So what did we have? We ordered the Hibachi Combo Fillet Mignon and Shrimp, along with 2 Special Rolls - Torch Salmon and Washington Roll. The Hibachi Fillet Mignon (sic) and Shrimp was good - it came with vegetables, rice (not chicken fried or pork fried, just fried which is fine with me) and then a good portion of both meats. This would be great for one person with an appetite. We shared it and the sushi. The Torch Salmon was heated with a torch - you can hear it when they start it up. It was a warm roll, and was quite good. The Washington Roll was also very tasty and was served chilled (not torched). Both sushi rolls came with ginger and wasabi. The wasabi was respectably hot, as expected. They also have appetizers on the menu. To help you out, I have included both sides of the menu in the photos. The drink machine is your typical 8 or 10 selection unit. The drinks tasted fine. This is a restaurant we need in Rochelle. It offers variety that is much needed. Give it a try!

She was very short and rude at the Rockford location, saying "I don't think we do", no checking with a manager to double check, just being short, and rather dismissive. But, the LOVES PARK location went above and beyond, the lady on the phone was SO sweet, asking her manager what changes we could make for the item I'd requested, since it did have wheat products. She was so kind and courteous to my dietary restriction since it could harm me pretty severely, and made sure I got something that wouldn't harm me and land me in a position where I could be in danger.
