A single burger runs close to $9, and a double cheeseburger is $18 -- without fries or anything on the side. That's double the price I remember, with no noticeable improvement in quality. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and unfortunately, the chicken just wasn't great -- a little chewy and not the best quality. The highlight of the meal was the Irish nachos, which thankfully taste just as good as I remembered. The ambiance hasn't changed much -- which is expected and even a little nostalgic -- but things like the bathrooms are definitely starting to feel dated. Service was fine, though I never did get a drink refill before deciding to just go ahead and pay. Overall, I hate to see a local classic like Schoop's decline, but based on the prices and food quality, I can understand why folks might think twice about coming back. I know I am.

Schoop's is a local Mom & Pop close to our hotel and The Hammond Sports Complex, that had pretty decent yelp reviews, how about we sample the dinner yummies here??? Yelp directions are on point. Designated parking is available in the lot next to the restaurant which is definitely convenient for the customer! Thank you! Didn't have to wait long to sit down. Interestingly, there are quite a few booths with "decorations" on it, very cool for sure (Who doesn't like the Three Stooges and Lucy & Desi!?!), however they limit access to sitting in those areas, which is unfortunate because the booths have the best lighting compared to center of the room tables. Now while you can also dine in at the limited seating inside, it is more fun to do it the old-fashioned way. BTW the carhops who work the drive up also work the dine in seating, and they were excellent ... always showing up just about when you needed something. Great service. The only hard thing here is ordering outside because one can't always see every part of the menu boards tacked up under the awning ... lucky enough, the carhops bring you the full menu. Food wise: we shared an order of Fried Mozzarella Sticks (4 star good, and they only needed just a bit longer frying to make the cheese inside creamy) and we shared an order of what they bill as the largest/best serving of fries in the world (another 4 star offering that was good, but barely fed two ... let alone being the "largest"). For mains: two of us had the Cruiser Burgers (both 5 star burgers), and the last in our party had the Blue Top Burger (4 star excellent with grilled onions). Just for fun, we also tried a Chicken Taco (3 star stuff, and not really their specialty). Our group had two shakes (5 star stuff here). As a drive-in, Blue Top also knows how to have some fun: they have live music outside from time to time, and they offer "cruiser nights" when customers can drive in their muscle cars and park in the attached lot. You just have to pass by every day and read the marquee outside to know what's going on that evening or weekend. Definitely worth the 26min drive:) This place brings back all the "feels" from my childhood as I had a Schoops near my home growing up. The restaurant on the inside, still that old hamburger joint look from the 50's. And the smell, that hits you in the nose as soon as you open the door-DELICIOUSNESS! I ordered 2 Special E's: These are double cheese burgers with one piece of cheese. A double cheese: a double cheese burger with double cheese slices. 2 orders of Irish nachos(loaded cheese fries with bacon bite, fresh green onion, and ranch sauce on the side). An order of regular fries with a cheese cup. A large strawberry shake A large Coke no ice And a small Green River Shake (mine). My order was packed up nicely in a box (including the drinks). The transporting of the food and drinks home was secured by my trucks selt belt. I was determined to get the grub home with out issues. To my surprise, the food was still piping hot when we sat down to eat. The shakes were still shaking, and the fries we as yummy as I had remembered. Everything tasted great. The burgers were so huge, I couldn't take more than 3 bites. Can someone say "LEFTOVERS!!" Score! The only thing that wasn't amazing, was that my well anticipated "Green River Shake" didn't taste like Green River,nor did it look all that green.
