I wrote a review on another website and I cannot edit it yet but wanted to update my review, so I thought I'd post it here. My sisters and I got cones and blizzards at this establishment on 5/1/21 and there was something off about the ice cream. Texture, taste, everything was off. My review stated this but that the staff was wonderful. Shantell, the owner called me this morning and said because of my review, she realized the ice cream maker needed servicing and now the ice cream is back to its delicious, original form. I will not hesitate to patronize this establishment in the future. The owner cares enough to call and ask we give them another chance (after I said in my review, if this is the new ice cream, then forget it!) I even wrote to DQ HQ and commented that the ice cream we received that day was not up to DQ standards. Again, the staff was great and we had no problem whatsoever with them. We will DEFINITELY be back!!! Thank you Shantell for setting me straight! It was not the store's fault, but the machine needed some attention and now everything is A-OK!. I can't wait to visit this store again, meet Shantell and have another cone, a large this time! read more

Can't give worse score waited 20 minutes in drive thru left after one car had been help in that time

The worst! Stopped here on way back to Houston and they're awful! Employees stand around doing nothing on their phones, chit chatting and ignoring customers but sure made time to give food to family and friends. Don't bother going in the dining room because they don't even bother to acknowledge you. Waited 15 mins and left because they never even bothered to greet us, take our order or acknowledge us. Acted like we weren't even standing there. Service sucks!!! Need to hire all new staff! read more

Welcome to Speed Trap, Texas. Where speed limits are also enforced on the speed by which your order can be made. We stopped here on our way from Houston back to Waco after the Texas Bowl. There were about 4 people in front of us. Once it was our turn we placed our order for 3 mini blizzards (one turtle pecan and two nutty banana). The people in front of us got their order. The 5 people behind us got their order. Finally when the 6th person behind us was being brought their blizzard we said very loudly... Um... where's ours? Seriously, sitting in Dairy Queen in Podunk, USA is not really our idea of fun and we'd rather not sit here all day. Once we finally got our blizzards, they were as good as we have all come to expect from the DQ... sadly, having your order skipped over is not the way to maintain a positive review that the product deserves. read more

Stopped here on my way back to Houston. I always love walking into a place and being stared at for being an "outsider". Was it the bebe shirt, the Prada sunglasses, or the fact that I wore them inside? Who gives a damn!! I needed to potty and I was hungry ... and Chick-Fil-A is closed on Sunday. I wasn't in the mood for tacos, so I ordered a #2, sandwich only. It was fine I suppose ... better than McDonald's, but way slower, too. The onion on my burger was incredibly strong, the tea was not. I ordered a chocolate shake. I was given milk with chocolate stuck to the bottom of the cup. Over run with excessive cinnamon and no freakin ice cream to even thicken it up. All in all it was like a glass of shitty chocolate milk. I won't be going back. read more

We were driving by a little before 8:30 on a Sunday night. We saw the open sign was on so we drove up to the drive-thru. Our little boy was thirsty so all we wanted was a drink. We waited for a full minute before someone came over the speaker, and then all he said was "We close in 4 minutes." We said "Ok" because we just wanted a drink, but when we started to order he just repeated "we close in 4 minutes." We asked if that meant we could not order anything and he replied "yes." I am never one to like to keep someone open late, but we knew we were not ordering food and the open sign was still on even after we were denied service! We travel through Calvet often, but will NEVER stop at the Dairy Queen there again. I would encourage everyone else to do the same! read more

We like to stop here on our travels to Waco but never again, how is a Dairy Queen out of ice cream? How is a dairy cream out of Dr Pepper? The self serve soda was out of order and the men's bathroom was out of order. I did get a greasy cheeseburger that I wouldn't even let my dog eat. At least that was available to order. The only reason it received one star is so I could review it. Besides this place looking like a building prop for the Walking Dead, I stopped there on the way to Waco because my kids really wanted a dipped cone. The next DQ was about 30 minutes away, so I stopped here. Went to the drive thru and he guy asked me could I hold, even though there were no cars in front or behind me. I politely waited. When he proceeded to take my order, i never got to finish my order because he cut me off and gave me a total for one cone. I explained to him that i was not done and he cut the head set off. I ended up driving off. It's funny the guy at the drive thru taking orders look like he probably would stand in line all day for some Jordan's, by impatient in doing his job taking orders. If he didn't want to be at work, he should have called in or quit. There is no reason for poor customer service. If you are going through HIGHWAY 6, I would advise you to go to DQ while in Bryan, Tx or Hearne, Tx, but bypass this one. There's another in Marlin, Texas that's a further was up. Don't bother with this one. read more

This is one of the few places to eat in Calvert, and I think that is what keeps them in business. We only go to Dairy Queen when Roy's (across the street and hard to notice) is closed or we don't have cash on hand and there is absolutely no other option available, including finding something to cook at home, and we only go through the drive-through. Every time we have gone, which is not very many, our order has been a disappointment. For starters, we usually have to repeat our order multiple times regardless of what we are ordering. Also, the definition of large fries at this location does not meet the national standard of every other burger place you will ever visit. I would honestly hate to see what a regular fry looks like. Most of the time we have to pull out of the drive-through to wait, and wait, and wait for our order. When it finally does arrive, it is often wrong, but we've just kind of given up on getting what we actually asked for and make due with what we get. read more
