No drink. The items came hot, fresh, well seasoned. Solid. But I'm still hungry, unfortunately. Food came quickly. Are in my car. The space is loud. I didn't see tables but perhaps they were off towards the middle of the oasis. Staff were social, chatting a lot, must have been a shift change as there were lots of folks moving through but not working. The young folks who were working appeared to be very focused and precise. But the restaurant itself is being horribly neglected by its owners, and this reflects badly on the experience of eating there. 1. There are several construction projects in the restaurant that are only half completed, including a wall around the drink dispenser that was built but never painted. It's just drywall and spackle. And there's a strip of floor tile missing near the machine, which causes a tripping hazard. 2. The drink machine's icemaker has been out of service for months. 3. The restaurant installed customer ordering screens at the counter, but for nearly a year these have powered-on but inactive and covered in plastic. 4. For over a year, a security system box on the wall of the lobby has been loudly beeping because its battery is missing. 5. Outside, there are broken bricks and messy planters near the entrance. It's looking very shabby and run-down. Somebody needs to get things in gear, and start addressing these problems. If you're going to run a business people will trust, you have to put in some work.

Four orders in a row have either been incorrect or had items missing. On three occasions, the store has actually had to drive missing items or an entire corrected order back out to our house. I appreciate that the store is willing to remake food, deliver missing items, or offer a credit toward a future order. However, those things really are not what I am looking for. I simply want the order to be correct the first time. Today was especially frustrating because when I ordered, I specifically asked if I could remain at the drive thru window long enough to check the order before leaving. I also asked if the food could be spread between additional bags rather than everything being packed tightly together. Instead, I was told I needed to pull around to the front. When the order was eventually brought to my vehicle, everything had been packed extremely tightly into one bag and stapled shut to the point that I could not reasonably check it. I asked the young lady who brought it out if the order had been checked, and her response was, "I don't know." Of course, I got home and discovered that items were missing again. That is exactly what I was trying to avoid by asking to check the order at the window. When you have kids waiting to eat after getting home from a long drive from the city, and you order from one of their favorite places, you just want to get home, open the bag, and eat. You do not want to call the restaurant, explain what is missing, and then wait for someone to drive the correct food back to your house. A future credit does not really fix that experience. I am asking that someone take a serious look at the quality control at the Belvidere location, particularly the process for verifying orders before they are handed to customers. We only order from Tom & Jerry's about once every couple of weeks, so having four consecutive orders be incorrect seems like more than an occasional mistake. Either we have somehow been extraordinarily unlucky four times in a row, or there is a larger issue with order accuracy at this location. What concerned me further today was seeing employees goofing around inside while a very simple request to verify my order was essentially dismissed. I was not asking for anything unreasonable. I was specifically trying to prevent the exact problem that ended up happening again. We like your food and want to continue being customers. I am not looking for another credit or free meal. I would much rather see the Belvidere store improve its quality control so that when customers leave with an order, they can have confidence that what they paid for is actually in the bag.

When I was a wee lass, I went to the Taco Bell right by my house on Southtowne Drive. This Taco Bell has no personality to it, it just looks like a bland, "modern" Taco Bell. At least the one on Southtowne looked just a teensy bit unique. A few days ago, there was a massive internet, cable, (and for truly unlucky people, cellular) outage that lasted many agonizing hours, and during that outage, I walked right over to what used to be the Southtowne Taco Bell and sat there, on one of those checkered gravel tables, and just thought about life, digital camera in hand, my dirty yellow vans propped up on the seat, and my plushies on the table.
