Delightful little ice cream shop. They serve Tofts, which is an Ohio classic. You can get favorites like chocolate/vanilla swirl soft serve, or my favorite, a cherry dip cone. There are a few picnic tables and benches and zero inside seating. Also note they are cash only. Very friendly young ladies working at the window. The first visit was last week. As a rule I rarely carry cash. The credit card machine was down. Well, the staff gave me an order and said, "just pay the next time you're in the neighborhood." Another local favorite for ice cream. Dairy King has been around a long time here. It has a menu of custards and hot greasy stuff. Good to cool off on a hot day. They are still cash only. Came here with a friend to get something cool. It has what you expect. They have a good selection of slushies. It's about $2 for a medium. They are best known for custard though. It's fairly cheap. This comes in chocolate, vanilla, or twist. It's about $2 for a medium cup. They also have hot food if you want a meal. It seems like a good old school place to hang around. This is the best ice cream ever! I've been eating it since I was a kid and I love how it had nostalgia to it and their items. Feels like I'm a kid again and not just because of the items, the pricing it cheap and the cups have that 90s feeling. DON'T READ THIS REVIEW. Just added these lines a few days after reviewing. Quite honestly, I'm having second thoughts about having written this review, and might just remove it entirely. If you happen to read on, you'll probably agree. Oh, well. I'll mull it over for a few days. . This is where you will find the frozen custard recipe from the old EUCLID BEACH Amusement Park. When it's your turn, just say this: "OLD FASHIONED." Simple---that's all there is to it---the only thing to order. Regular soft-serve is also offered---and I'm sure it's probably very good, too, and the perfect choice for less descriminating kiddie and pooch palates. But it's the phenomenal Old Fashioned style that my 5 Stars are based on. Flavor: vanilla Sizes: small, medium, large Cone: sugar or cake (yellow) Price: about 2.00 to 4.00 (more than standard soft-serve) The best frozen custard EVER---maybe on earth. Cannot imagine how this recipe could be improved. It's impossible. This far and away exceeds in flavor, richness, smoothness, and quality, of what's offered at East Coast, Webers, and Rosati's, which are all much closer to my home. Went about 3 times to East Coast, once to the others, and haven't returned. Because it's a rare treat that I allow myself, when I have a taste for frozen custard this is where we go, and the only thing we've ever ordered. They have what's probably typically offered at these types of stands---standard soft-serve, sundaes, shakes, etc.---but never tried them. You could certainly have an Old Fashioned sundae or shake, but the purpose would be defeated---any syrup or fruit topping would only overpower the distinctive flavor of this unique custard. (Of the dozens of times family members and myself have visited, only a single time was it less than stellar. Very tiny bits of egg weren't completely broken down, but it didn't effect the flavor in any way.) About ten years ago they had hung a long banner across the front, advertising their "Old Fashioned" custard recipe as the one from the old EUCLID BEACH Amusement Park. Never had that one, but from what I've been told and what I've read, it was considered the best---the same way we and others we've told, feel about Dairy King's. This stand was discovered by my father---in the eyes of family and friends now, much like a modern day fairway-wood-wielding German equivalent of a 16th century Spanish conquistador---who happened to see that sign one day when driving home from a golf outing. He loved that original decades ago, so pulled in out of curiosity, and was soon taken back to those 1950's Euclid Beach days. An unofficial "ice cream expert", he had passed on all soft-serves until that day. If not for that roughly hand-printed, and obviously home-created banner, myself and dozens of others, might never have had the opportunuty to try the best frozen custard anywhere. I've just selflessly, perhaps foolishly, let you in on a best-kept-secret, and hope that it doesn't back-fire for me. I haven't seen that sign for 10 years, so whoever orders the Old Fashioned found out about it by word-of-mouth. Now I feel a little guilty at spilling the "vanilla beans". Kind of like coming upon a flourishing patch of truffles off a footpath in Rocky River Metroparks while walking my dog, and not keeping the discovery to myself. I'll probably end up paying for this one---maybe the next time that I visit those cone prices will be $10-15.00. It will still be worth it, but as soon as I get home, this review won't be updated, it will be REMOVED. And it would be wise not to post YOUR reviews. Once you taste this creamy fabulousness---one of the true "Wonders of the Dessert World"---you won't want to risk telling anyone else. And the absolutely LAST thing we'd want is to see this stand featured on Food Networks' Best Things---as well it could be---if we don't keep our mouths shut. (Chef Symon: Being a local---I doubt that you will, but if you ever happen to read this review---and end up sampling---PLEASE---I beg of you---don't tell a soul. Very close family members, okay---and they must be sworn to secrecy. But NO ONE else ! And, please, PLEASE don't write a review. Thanks.) Faded posters of ice cream photos---dissolved into various shades of blue and pink from heat and age---and hand-written signs listing what they offer, cover the windows of this 50's corner stand. 'Dairy King' may very well have the absolute best tasting, authentic 'old fashioned' frozen vanilla custard this side of the Mississippi! Think Coney Island, Euclid Beach, etc. good! Whereas East Coast, Rosati's, and other notable establishments serve great tasting custard as well, 'Dairy King' takes it to a whole other level! This could very well be the original, classic great amusement parks formula of yesteryear.
