This is the cutest little food/ice cream shack in Weston. My mom and I came just for ice cream and it was really good. My mom loved the hot fudge sundae and said the fudge was real fudge not chocolate sauce. It comes with nuts and whipped cream too. My cone was great. The soft serve is really delicious and creamy. It was 20$ for both our ice creams so this place isn't cheap. A few picnic tables for seating. Came on a Monday night around 7 there were people there but not that crowded. We were meeting relatives for dinner during the summer, and they suggested Dairy Joy. Their menu showed that they had fried clams, which I love. However, I had no intention of getting them at an ice cream place in Weston. But then I read reviews, and people raved about their fried clams. So my husband and I shared a medium size, and they were really delicious (more than enough for both of us)! It's just the clams - no fries or slaw. One cousin got a hotdog and the other got a tuna salad. We were all very pleased with our meals, which we enjoyed at a picnic table outside the place. I would definitely return. read more

We have eaten here a numbers of times and but yesterday we stopped by for lunch. My wife got their fish sandwich special. She enjoyed it. I ordered a clam roll which was market priced. When the clam roll came out there were only eight small calms which did not even fill the hot dog round. I was a bit disappointed. I wished they had put more clams in and changed more. We may be skipping Dairy Joy this summer or I will just get a burger next time. read more

Was looking forward to a farther's day treat and was left very disappointed. we ordered medium fried clams. There was between 10-12 clams. It was so small and was about39$ so not worth it. The prices here are simply shocking. More than $8 for a very small soft serve in a cup with a teaspoon of sprinkles. The burger and fries were $18 for a very average amount of fries. The woman said their prices were comparable to other restaurants but this is a 'sit at a picnic table with food scraps all around you,' not a RESTAURANT. It was very dirty outside with all kinds of food on the ground. And the staff at the ordering counter was incredibly rude when I simply (and calmly) said I thought the prices were high. I couldn't agree more with everyone's comments. I came here for the first time because my cousin highly recommended it. She said it's soft serve ice cream dipped! I usually go to Pizzis which is a lot closer but decided to try. I was so shocked when I got the 2- "kiddie small vanilla cone and dipped and the total was $16! I assumed it was no more than 10-12... and had to get more cash from their conveniently places ATM machine that charges ridiculous fee for using it and the a fee from ur bank! A simple visit ended up to be more expensive and left a sour note . It's soft serve icecream, and it's the prices as if it's freshly homemade prepared ice cream!!! It's Time to jump into The TimeMobile & scour the Earth & take you to places from a different time that you won't believe still exist.  We have set the dial to 1961 in the town of Weston MA outside of Boston. We've landed at a Vintage Ice Cream Shack called Cedar Hill Dairy Joy. You can get an Old School Classic Soft Serve Flavor that has pretty much disappeared from today's ice cream landscape. Dairy Joy serves an Orange Sherbet Soft Serve mixed together with a Vanilla Ice Cream soft serve in a Twist. They call it Creamsicle & was hugely popular on ice cream trucks & stands in the 60's & 70's. The Creamsicle soft serve flavor tastes completely different than the frozen one found in the supermarket aisles. If you want to taste what people were eating for desserts Back in The Day then you've got to make a pit stop here. The Creamsicle was GOOOOOD & the Vanilla & Chocolate Mix which they they call Marble Twist was also GOOOOOD! They also serve - Javaberry a flavor created totally by accident. It's a Raspberry Sherbet swirled with a Coffee Ice Cream Twist. Yet another Sherbet & Ice Cream Combo. They also serve burgers, chicken fish & onion rings French fries etc- Beach Staples. I can't comment on the food because all we got was the ice cream. They are only open Seasonally & Cash Only but they do have an ATM onsite. After a long cold bitter snowy winter everyone on the East Coast is desperately waiting for spring to finally arrive. There's the chirping of the birds, the rebirth of the flowers & trees & then there's the re-opening of Dairy Joy. This is a right of passage & tradition for many people. Yup, it's a Big Deal. Then they do it all again when they close up shop in October & people try to catch that last bit of summer before the cold winter sets in again. They have Free Parking & you can eat your ice cream on their classic picnic tables & umbrellaed tables surrounded by lots of trees. Their large letters on their logo sign looks like Kids arranged Blocks that have been placed in a slightly ajar pattern just like kids would do. It's not perfectly aligned. It's just a Return to a Much Simpler Time. When the sun starts to set, on comes the old school fluorescent long tube white lights that have a slight tinge of yellow to them. The Creamsicle isn't something new that they are bringing back from the past. They've been doing this for over 60 years, but locals have kept it a secret to themselves & didn't tell anybody else. Most people didn't even know that this Creamsicle soft serve even existed. Dairy Joy used to have 3 locations including Hudson & Watertown. This Weston shop is the last one left & it's still family owned by The Maxwells. Boston Magazine had a featured article called Where to Find the Best Soft-Serve Ice Cream in Greater Boston Dairy Joy was one of the shops they named. It is important to note that they are one of the rare places that only accept cash, that it's an outdoor seasonal food stand with no facilities for guests, and that some of the picnic table areas outside often have a lot of bees. The ice cream is very good, with nice soft serve flavors such as raspberry. They also serve fried seafood and sandwiches. It is pretty expensive, though, so we don't visit as often as we otherwise would like to. read more

I get their chicken tenders all the time. I was just starving and craving them on my way home. They've always been expensive - but worth the money as a treat, in my opinion. On the way home I are an ice cream which was great, but the cone was stale. Not normal for them, so I thought just a one time thing. I got home so excited, to take a bite into a chicken finger to discover they are completely different. (I have gotten their chicken fingers MULTIPLE times this season. I'm POSITIVE these are different.) I called and the girl told me they are the same. I literally would bet anything on this, as I am POSITIVE they are different. This is someone that just drove 25 mins extra on a long drive home to get them, because she knows how good they are (or used to be....) The chicken is normally amazing white meat. This was gross and creepy chicken- mushed together. More like a nugget than a tender. I literally cannot eat these and am throwing them out and about to cook. Truthfully, Dairy Joy does not have the best fried clams or ice cream, but the roadside stand offers a quintessential taste of summer in New England. If you are looking for something nostalgic, I would recommend stopping by. I believe Dairy Joy is at least 60 years old by this point. They have it listed as having dairy free options, but when we came there weren't any available. We came around late lunch time, so there was a line and I was excited to try the creamsicle soft serve. While we were waiting there was a lady who came back and said the creamsicle flavor was off, so I ended up just getting a plain medium twist cone. They are a cash only spot, but they do also have an ATM if you need. This medium cone was no joke huge and very filling. It was soft and creamy and could in itself be a meal. They also have fried seafood and plenty of tables if you're looking to sit down and have a meal outside. If you are looking for a simple classic that is the soft serve Diary Joy can satisfy. Diary Joy's soft serve is soft yet not the creamiest of soft serves. Some of the ice cream tasted icy like it had some sheets of ice within it. I do appreciate Dairy Joy's simple menu with not too many flavors and weekly specials. Dairy Joy keeps it simple and doesn't overwhelm you with flavors which can be nice. Sometimes you just need a spot to go to that always has their classic flavors and keeps ordering easy and uncomplicated. Diary Joy is cash only and has no public restrooms. I've been driving by this place and always want to stop since it looks so cute! Today was the day. They're cash only and only soft serve ice cream. We thought the ice cream was okay, not great. The prices were pretty steep for soft serve. We asked for a root beer float and were served a regular soda float. Gave it a try and wasn't our thing. The chocolate dip cone was fine. My son and I went there tonight for food, and the prices are way too high for a drive up ice cream joint. The veggie burger was ok...not much flavor and it fell apart. My son got the smoke burger which definitely isn't smoked and if you get it with their bland fries its 15$. They also don't ask if you want fries so you automatically get charged for them. Its 13$ without. 15$ for a large sweet potato fry...yup. I changed my order to a small because of it. The quality and price don't match up. The girl helping us was incredibly rude. I asked for a pixie sundae, she came back with soft serve in a cup with nothing else on it. Then dumped the toppings on it so messily they were all over the sides of the cup. We've NEVER been to an ice cream/soft serve place that doesn't have a single flavor or item without gluten - we're not picky about serving spoons/cross contamination, as our daughter has been fine. It was clearly that they didn't want to check ingredients or be bothered to look into it. I've been going to Dairy Joy for 30 years and it's only gotten better. It's a real New England experience, especially if you like seafood (lobster rolls, fried clams, etc), and they have some of the best soft serve ice cream around, including some swirl flavors you won't find elsewhere, like Javaberry. My family and I love bringing friends and family from out of town because it's outdoors, it's old school, it's casual, and the food is really excellent. It's very thick and creamy, and their hot fudge was also the perfect consistency- highly recommended! -Chicken Finger Specialty Sandwich Combo (w/Fries & Soda, $13.90 + Lettuce/Tomato $1.75 + Cheese $0.80): Now I know why everyone is complaining about the exorbitant prices here, since it cost a total of $16.45 for a fried chicken cutlet sandwich, a small tray of fries, and a small soda- crazy!! The chicken cutlet was at least pretty big, and was wider than the bun, but it needed seasoning. At least it had a good crisp on the outside. I wouldn't get this again. I also tried a sample of the Javaberry soft serve, but I'm not a big fan of raspberry so this wasn't my favorite. I would definitely come back for their soft serve, but avoid ordering any other food here! They have some tables to sit at if you want to dine there.
