Their…read morehomemade pistachio lokum is delicious and the best I've had (including compared to lokum I had in Turkey), so I make the trip from Manhattan just for these treats! Gary, the sweet shop owner, makes it himself. Everyone who works here is incredibly friendly and it's nice to support a small mom and pop shop that opens the doors and allows us New Yorkers to have a connection to Middle Eastern culture and foods. Such a gem of a shop we have with Oriental Pastry & Grocery! See you soon, Gary and team!

Very tiny spot with a friendly cat with not so good desserts. The ma'moul was dry and the baklava and bird's nest was somehow dry even though there was a lot of honey on it. The kunafeh was also just wasn't good either . Oddly the Turkish delight was quite tasty and fresh but I am unsure if it was homemade as it was just that much better. The inside of the ashta dessert wasn't dry (as it was well cream) but the filo wasn't good either. I've had their desserts several times and I've had this issue way too many times that it doesn't seem like a rare occurrence. Sure the prices are lower than Sahadi's but there's other better choices on the block for pastries (namely Damascus or Karkanni.) 3 for the spice/nut selection.

They also have a vast amount of goodies, specifically chips, cookies and candy from Japan, Korea and China. There is also a section with stationary items and toys for all ages. The market has a small seating area which is great for grabbing a quick bite or soft serve ice cream, in my case, near the ice cream station. I love black sesame ice cream and put my colleague on to it, and she loved it as well. It was a nice treat on a hot 80 degree day in NYC. This space is in a great location in Cobble Hill, not far from transit and shops. The best part is it's clean and well lit. Will return to try some of their prepared foods and packaged salty items.

Hashi feels like an actual grocery store with aisles of Asian goods. While it's still a bit pricey, it's the next best thing without traveling to Chinatown. My favorite part of their ready to eat hot foods/sushi section. I decided to get a Sashimi/Sushi Combo ($23), which I also got to enjoy right away. They have a dining area for you as well. Plus, you get 50% off at Fujissa located inside with $10+ purchase at Hashi Market (just show your receipt when you order). And don't miss out on the 50% off discount after 7pm for the hot foods/sushi, which is an hour earlier than Ten Ichi Mart.

Walk up counter available for ordering a variety of sandwiches. I had a Caprese sandwich. Was neither here nor there.. Nothing stood out. Would benefit from a really nice balsamic glaze/better tomatoes/lottts of fresh basil. But the service was friendly and I have a feeling their meat-based sandwiches go harder. The selection of items is and charm inside the store is unbeatable, though!

However, for their extensive selection of quality Italian pasta, you're going to want to cook it first. Maybe pair it with the olive oil, artichokes, tuna, dressings, sauces, mustards, broths, etc. A special bonus is the adorable array of kitchen tools that look like pasta. Like the conchiglie lemon squeezer, penne pan holder, and the mafaldine kitchen ties. This review may be spoiling someone's gift coming up, but such is life. All that aside, I'd still come in if it was a panini counter and nothing more. There is an extensive menu of options that I am only starting to make my way through. My first choice was the Parma, which is a generous amount of homemade pork shoulder, fresh tomato, truffle pecorino cheese cream, and a little drizzle of truffle oil as well. It was hot, it was rich, it was delicious. It came recommended by the lovely woman behind the counter, who was very sweet, if not very talkative. There's even a backyard and seating area if you don't want to take it home. If I had any criticism for Tavola, it's minor: I would like some acid on that sandwich to cut the richness (some pickled red onions would go a long way), and I would like everything in the market to be about 20% less expensive, because I want it all and I could really only afford a sandwich and some very nice pasta that I'm excited to make.

Ai Mart is a newer modern Asian market that is located in Chinatown which is very welcoming addition. I purchased two Onigiris, Japanese rice balls $3.00 each which the filling was good and the Nori (seaweed) wrapping was solid. The rice was below room temp which made the rice sticky and hard to chew. Disappointedly, no plum Onigiri. There are spicy tuna, spicy tuna mayo, spicy salmon, and Unagi (eel). Soy sauce condiment is available for purchase at $0.75. It is very well stock with inventory of Asian imported snacks, Asian ice cream, beauty products, home goods, including prepared hot foods tempura, teriyaki, ramen as well as sashimi/ sushi. Price is reasonable specifically in 2026 stagflation era. If my trek home was close to Chinatown I would surely purchase one pint of Matcha green tea ice cream. Customer service is welcoming and friendly and available for any questions at the cash wrap counter.
