Have had their lunches catered at my workplace in the past and was impressed with the quality. Have had their bourbon chicken and pepper steak before, both delicious. Tried their lunch special again today and pepper steak was again very good. Shrimp and mixed veggies with jumbo, quality shrimp cooked perfectly tender. Also got kung pao chicken and the peanuts in there were delightfully crisp and fresh. Their portions are very generous for a reasonable price and service at the counter was efficient and pleasant. This is our go to for Chinese food for the last 10 years. Last week we placed our usual order and I ended up with food poisoning. We think it was the dumplings since I am the only one who ate them and the only one who got sick. Delivery is usually right on time or early. Long time customer who orders at least 3x a month, sometimes twice a week. I spent a lot of money there. We are a family of 4 adults and 2 children. The food is always fresh and tasty. The girl who answers the phone has always been nice to us. Around the holidays we had a large order. I made sure she heard me say "chicken nuggets" for our very picky 4yo. The reason I double checked is they were missing them in a previous order. She told me I didn't order them. I figured she was probably right and it slipped my mind. So this time I i double checked. She read my order back and yes, she said chicken nuggets. Satisfied, I went about getting ready. Food comes, no nuggets At this point I call back confused. Before I could even say what's wrong she saidd "but you didn't no order nuggets"". I kept calm and explain that I double checked. She's was furious and raising her voice and taking over me. I then told her that she is losing a customer over 5 dollars. I'm not even sure she heard me, but I'm positive she didn't care. We haven't ordered since. Years ago there was a lady named Mae. Oh how I miss her. She would occasionally call and say "why you no order!?" Loved her. She was checking to see if we were ok, not demanding we order. I don't expect excellent service from dai Kim, I do expect good food and not to be argued with over 5 chicken nuggets. Worst chinese food I have had since moving to Pasadena 19 years ago. I used to love their food at Daikim. Today I ordered carry out beef & broccoli combo lunch -- includes fried rice and spring roll. First, spring roll was moderately crispy on outside but inside was soft and squishy -- gushy uncooked wrapper on the inside. No flavor. They used to have great food but no longer. The beef is old tasting and chewy. The broccoli is wayyyyyy over-cooked. Almost mushy. And there is little flavor for the meal. The sauce (very limited) is on the bottom of the carry-out container but not really on the beef or the broccoli. The fried rice has very little flavor and too many chopped onions. A few are nice but I've had to pick out about 1/4 cup of onions. Not too many peas and carrots (looks like they used frozen peas and carrots from the local grocery frozen section). I've poured soy sauce over the whole thing to get some flavor! Very disappointing and I'm going to put this restaurant on my "not any more" list. i'll have to try a different restaurant in the future. read more

It's steamed chicken mixed with cabbage and onions. No noodles to be heard of. Ima try the dumplings fried next time cause I felt the dough was a little soft for me but definitely bomb with the sauce. I usually get shrimp lo mien with hot and sour soup from other places but for my first time here I went simple. The shrimp egg rolls are amazing with the decent number of shrimp in it. Typically we get Chinese food from our old spot, the problem with that is we moved last year and our old spot is about 25 to 30 minutes away. So I decided to give this place a chance. It was local and had a decent rating, why not? We ordered something pretty basic, house lo mein and chicken and broccoli. Neither were well flavored, the noodles were overcooked, overall it was just kind of meh. Needless to say we won't be getting food from here again. The food is not bad but the customer service is awful. The worst I have ever experienced. The woman who answers the phones has a poor attitude. I placed an order and she got it wrong. When I arrived to pick up, she yelled at me and refused to correct the mistake. She has been rude to my husband and I in the past but we endured it since this is the closest Chinese restaurant to our house. Her attitude and the way she spoke to me today sealed the deal. The first time I ordered takeout from Daikim Express was over a year ago. I ordered bourbon chicken and I just couldn't get with it.I had to throw it away and ended my evening upset and hungry. I haven't been there since. Being that this is the closest Chinese restaurant to where I live and considering that this place gets a lot of 4 and 5 star reviews, I kept telling myself that I'm going to have to give this place another chance. That other chance came yesterday. It has been nothing short of disgusting here in Maryland...cloudy, cold, rainy weather for the past week and now, reports of a possible hurricane. All I wanted to do was pick up some takeout and crawl in my bed after I left work. On my way here, I was struggling with what I wanted...shrimp lo mein, shrimp egg foo young, or something "new"? Since it was so cold and rainy, I decided to get something on the more comforting side...shrimp egg foo young. I also decided on an order of shrimp toast as an appetizer. The shrimp toast was disgusting...slightly burnt and overly greasy triangles of bread topped with a shrimp mixture that left me wondering if there were even any shrimp in there. Yuck! Do not order the shrimp toast from here. It will leave you disappointed. So far, the best shrimp toast that I've had is at The Canton Restaurant in Annapolis. Then it was time for the egg foo young. They give you a good amount of rice and keep the gravy separate, which is good. I opened the container to the egg foo young and there was a liquid at the bottom of the container. It looked oily but it's hard to tell what it is because the container is black. I knew it wasn't gravy because the gravy is in a separate container. Should that liquid be there? I don't know. I began to set myself up..grabbed a bowl, threw in some rice, topped it with an egg foo young pancake, and then the gravy...the gravy had a smell that began to make me nervous and it had a lumpy/gritty texture to it. But hey, I'm an all or nothing type of girl so I went for it. All in all, the egg foo young was pretty tasty. I didn't encounter much shrimp in it, but it was good and that is something that I'll order again. I decided to wait a day before writing my review to make sure I didn't get sick but all is well in that area. Lol! I gave 2 stars because my 2 experiences with this place have not left me with the greatest impression. I don't know what it is...am I ordering the wrong things from here? I feel like in order to give a place 4 or 5 stars, EVERYTHING should be pretty solid. Next time, I'll have to stick with the basics...lo mein, beef with broccoli, or fried rice to see how that goes. It has to be something good about this place if the majority of reviews are 4 and 5 stars or are the reviews not legit? I don't know. I will say that when I went here, the phone was ringing off the hook and the lady at the front counter had to juggle the steady stream of customers who came in to place orders and pick up food along with the phone constantly ringng. For the most part they have pretty decent Chinese food. Especially for a little carry out delivery joint. I think out of all the times I've ordered from Dai Kim , I only had 2 bad experiences. Not terrible tho. I'd also like to add that their delivery always arrives in a timely manner. I think the longest I've ever waited was an hour max. But most of the time it's here within a half hour to 45 min. So I definitely recommend this place. Update: Ordered delivery from here recently and it was fantastic. I have had food delivered from this restaurant for years. I live 2.6 miles away. Tonight, 24 minutes after placing an order, I was called because they couldn't find my address. They said it would be another 35 minutes because "they don't like to deliver way down there late at night, they only like to go to Glen Burnie". I live in Pasadena, 2.6 miles away, in a very safe community. I placed my order at 7:20 on a Friday night. In the summer. It's still light out. You be the judge. I canceled the order. I am incredibly disappointed with Daikim. After using Yelp to order, I was given an ETA of an hour approximately. After calling an hour and ten minutes later, the gentleman I spoke to said its only been 45 minutes. I told him it has not, and then he said well, we're very busy, and you ordered online so the processing time was longer. I argued the ETA provided, and he still didn't know when the food would be there because the driver left less than ten minutes ago and had to deliver about five orders. He then handed me to the "manager" without me knowing or asking or the transfer. The pleasant "manager" continuously talked over me and continued to say that they are a "popular and busy" restaurant, and can't be held accountable for the food yet to be delivered. I've had food be delivered late, but I have never dealt with such indifferent and frankly insolent service. The "manager" could say nothing other than that their restaurant is popular and busy. She consistently spoke over me when I was talking. After this debacle of a call, I called back ten minutes later to cancel the order. I asked to speak to the manager again. Who instantly went into her speech of them being busy and me ordering online. I told her I wanted to cancel. She starts talking to someone in the background in a foreign language, then comes back to me and tells me that I told the driver to skip your order and go to the next. She then told me she was busy in the kitchen, and if I wanted to talk, I need to call back. THIS IS THE SERVICE I RECEIVED FROM THIS "POPULAR AND BUSY" RESTAURANT. NEVER AGAIN WILL THEY RECEIVE MY BUSINESS, AND WILL MAKE SURE NONE OF MY FRIENDS IN THIS AREA GO BACK. IF THE MANAGER READS, KNOW THIS, YOUR PEOPLE SKILLS ARE DESPICABLE. Don't let the somewhat sketchy shopping center Daikim is located in fool you; this is one of the better places for Chinese in Glen Burnie. It's pretty good, but I would recommend sticking with the more Americanized fare like the orange chicken or beef and broccoli. The Sezchuan beef was too watery and didn't have enough flavor or spice. However, the prices are fair, and the service is speedy. Daikim is my go-to Chinese place and is coincidentally reasonably close to where I live, so I find myself ordering food from here each time I have a craving for Chinese. read more
