I had a slow leak was quoted by other auto service places $15-20. This place charged me hourly rate. Which was $33. Won't go back.

After being bought out when the owner retired, it would be natural to wonder what the new ownership would bring. The answer is an even better version that still kept the core competence and courtesy of the former owner's operation. Al is still there with more experience in repair than can be imagined; he did great work a while back on my '78 Eldorado and has always had an expert eye and a friendly honest manner. The waiting room has been completely revamped; the parking lot relined and reorganized. Phones are answered promptly; receipts and workorders have been revamped and upgraded. The new owner is friendly and very accommodating. I recently had an inspection due and he worked with me to fit it in around my schedule. Last year I had a 20 some year old Cadillac that was overheating, and there was some question about head gaskets vs. anything else. I brought it in and got an answer the very next day - head gaskets. No guessing, no "well maybe it's . . . . ". Xpert did a chemical test of the coolant, discovered the presence of hydrocarbons, , a 100% accurate indicator of a bad head gasket. There was no attempt to sell me one of the numerous "mechanic in a can, just add to the coolant" products that never work, and I was told very honestly that it would be a job with a repair bill about equal to the value of the car. Flat out honest advice delivered with respect and professionalism. That testing and evaluation cost me a mere $50, well worth it for the certainty it provided as to my path forward. At this point I cannot imagine a reason why I would bring my cars anywhere else for service.

I came in for a state inspection... first time in NY, I had no idea what to expect... the first guy…read morejust acted with a bit of disdain ... whatever. I wait a few hours, they found a code P1622 on my Jeep and changed the downstream O2 sensor. They told me to drive around a bit and it should stay cleared. The second I got home, the light came back on. So I drove around about 320 miles over the weekend and light was still on. I come in on Monday and they said they'd take a look at no charge and asked if they could drive it after to clear the EVAP code which was the only one left. I was there from about 10am and they came over to me just before 5pm when they closed. He asked me if I've ever changed the clutch since owning the car (which had over 120k miles on it.... and I had... just once about 4 years ago)... then I'm told that if I'm accelerating and it feels like it's slipping that the clutch is due to fail.... then he drops the truth and tells me that he has driven all kinds of cars over the years... and says it multiple times. Already a red flag. He said that he had to have the car towed after driving about 30 minutes or so... and said that the clutch was completely burnt out. Now, I've been driving that car and yes, there was some slipping to where while I was sitting there, I started looking up locations for transmission places.... but since he drove so many types of cars as he said, I'm surprised he wasn't aware of this... and left me with a car which used to shift in gear but now smelled like there was an electrical fire and the gear does not engage at all now. Then on top of that, "there are 4 tests left that didn't pass on inspection so I can't give you a pass for the light going out since it can't be driven [because I broke it]...but I'm not going to charge you for it." So basically, he's more concerned that he'd be blamed for breaking the car, I guess, and seems to want to blame me for what he thinks is my not replacing the clutch.... my clutch was usable far more than the condition he left it in. So if he didn't drive it, I'd have a partially drivable car which I've been driving around relatively fine for a bit and could've gotten to a transmission place after.... instead of being left with a car I couldn't even move. He told me to call AAA to get the car towed... but no one told me that AAA wouldn't tow off the lot of an auto place without permission from the office who just closed up for the day and went home. They referred me to the Clifton Park Jeep dealership and if you've ever called that place, it sounds like the most dysfunctional service dealership... who earlier told me that they'd not serve cars 10 years old with the statement of "they won't service cars that old." I found another place in Latham, NY that would see the car, but at that point, I was so frustrated with everyone that I decided it's not worth the effort and will just total the car. The Jeep in Latham told me that the clutch is no longer made but they could get a 3rd party aftermarket part... and could probably fix it.... So while I didn't get overcharged for it, this is the 2nd clutch (1st and only one at this location) where someone working in the garage was more forceful with driving it than I would have been and just left the car in far worse condition than I left it.... now the car is being junked and I ordered a new car.... No hard feelings... just multiple levels of frustration and disappointment to where I drove the car there and had to have it towed the next morning back home where someone's going to pick it up and likely just give me enough money to cover for what I ended up spending here which was about $560.

Would not recommend. They first give you a time after 4 days which is normal. Understandable, You…read moreleave the car at 10 in the morning, they will call you at 5pm, hey 1 item is done but if we do the complete job we will get late as we close at 530, so solution is either cancel all your plans for tonight and leave the car or cancel your plans for tomorrow and bring it again in the morning. Unreliable: the guy who did the alignment deliberately made it pull to the right cause he's immature and doesn't care if your brand new tires get cut in next 4 months. He must be high and thinking wow I did him dirty but just shows he could do the same with someone's break lines. I don't even want to go back to ask them to fix it cause you can't ask a unprofessional / untrustworthy person to do his job. I'm afraid if i go in and complain who knows what he does to my radiator hose. Keep that money and tell that alignment guy keep the 32 dollar commission. He deserves it.
