It is a literal small cottage in the middle of a parking lot for a small shopping center. Once I went inside I was swept away from the adorable decor and ambiance. I found my finds for myself almost instantly and the price was just in my range. Now when I arrived parking was kind of a pain since it was mostly full. Apparently this is a problem for the business owners and their patrons. I was informed by the owner that many people park in this particular lot but leave to either go to the beach or to other shops on the block. She gave me a parking pass (that I needed to return) so I could park on the lot. There was a parking attendant that was giving out tickets so make sure you get a parking pass from the owner asap.

We had so much fun customizing our own keychains and bib at SUNOA in Kona! The store was clean, had air conditioning (which was a lifesaver after being out in the Hawaii Heat!), and SO many tiny character patches to choose from. It was honestly hard to decide because everything was so cute. I ended up making a personalized Bib for my nephew and a matching bag tag. Our total came to $82.30 for both, I thought it was worth it for such unique, handmade souvenirs. It was such a fun experience and one of my favorite memories from Kona, especially getting to spend quality time with my sister while making them. If you're looking for some creative souvenirs, instead of the usual gift shop items, I definitely recommend stopping by!

You truly have so many choices of where to shop when you come to the Big Island but after walking into Sunset Traders you won't need or want to shop anywhere else! They helped us find everything we needed without ever making us feel pressured to shop. They gave us our space but were close enough when we had questions. This store has everything! What made my first visit so special was finding such a unique piece -- a ray, for me symbolizing one of the best free dives of my life -- and meeting the young craftsman who had carved it. We talked for quite a while and I loved hearing him share stories of his creative life and work.
