The "guaranteed to stand up" promise in their email turned out to be more of a marketing line than reality, and the session ended awkwardly with a long wait for the boards to be collected and no clear wrap-up. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but for the price and reputation, I expected a more organized and engaging lesson.

So, when my friend came to visit us we figured what better than surfing lessons? My husband met Ryan Ragan of Vast Oceans when Ryan was teaching another class. Ryan was patient, thorough and prepared. Our experience was that Ryan was not only prepared for our children with right size boards, but had a tent up for the parents to relax in the shade on a very hot day. (Chair not included. So bring one!). Ryan went over board safety, how to fall properly so as to not get hurt, when to exit the board so as to not get hurt, proper board care, style and grace, how to get out into the surf, the steps of getting up on the board. He helps the kids get confidence and comfort. He does not push them to go beyond comfort zone but continuously reminds them what steps they will be doing. He is patient and kind. Definitely wants kids to have the joy of surfing and solid instruction. What to bring: long sleeved sun shirt (aka rash guard) sunscreen for legs and all other exposed areas, towel, chair (if you want to sit) your cell phone or camera for some great photo opportunity's if you are watching. Bring a snack and drink. You will have a break and it's a great time to get hydrated and apply sunscreen on legs again. Don't forget to tip!

However, when I took the bubble wrap off the middle covering the straps, half of the secure strap was missing, rendering it useless. I messaged the shop and then they "apologized" and pretended to look for it for two days, then zero communication. I asked if they would do a partial refund for new straps from Suspenz. This shop is run by people who don't care about customers or service. Plenty of similar shops in the Daytona area have much higher reviews. Go there. However, when I saw the amazing price of $15 (as of Aug 2025) for a gel polish, I called right away! Booking an appointment was super easy & they have day or evening spaces open. How convenient! The location is clean and inviting with plenty of parking and a bright open interior. I was greeted by the receptionist & soon called in by Karma, the student nail tech. She was quiet but professional and kind. Her instructor was nearby throughout the service. Other students were working on clients in the salon. The atmosphere was upbeat and relaxing. My nails are short and I wanted just a simple gel polish application. I got exactly what I came in for. Karma worked with my soft nails by adding builder gel. She did a lovely job and was impressed at her work. I might just need to start getting more manicures at this rate.
