Tomato and Spicy & Sour Crossing the Bridge soups
    Rose W.

This is the latest rice noodle chain to arrive in Edmonton this year. Inside is modern and bright. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. Also who doesn't love unlimited noodle refills?! I've been here three times now and food has been great for me each time. To order, you have to fill out a sheet of paper to pick which items you want. I highly recommend the items on the bottom of the menu with "crossing the bridge" in its name. This means that all the items for the soup will be given to you in a tray and you can put the items in yourself. The top portion of the menu has the soups prepared with the items dumped in already. However I feel like it's more fun and I think there's more soup items provided if you choose a crossing the bridge soup option. My favorite soup so far is the spicy and sour soup with beef. I love the flavor and it's mixed with the perfect spices to make you want to crave for more. Also the bubble tea options here are fantastic. I rank it high in the bubble tea places in the city. The fruits in the bubble tea are fresh and the size of the drink is decent. The price of the buuble tea and the noodle soups are reasonable. It's definitely a place to check out if you like rice noodles!

Really amazing place. Food was fast and tasty. Really filling and super healthy. I had the Spicy Crossing the Bridge Rice Noodle Soup. It was great. Although I am the one that usually does extra extra hot sauce on everything, I found this too spicy. I love how the soup comes deconstructed. You can add veggies and meat to your liking, and each bite is a different tasty sensation. I decided to be adventurous and tried the sliced beef tongue. It was really spicy. I was surprised on how tender the tongue tasted. It was a lovely combination of crunchy vegetables and tender meat. We also had the fried chicken. The chicken was moist and tender and a nice batter on the chicken. I also had the strawberry panna cotta drink. How delicious! It made the prefect rich dessert. I highly recommend this place. My only critique is that it is not a super comfortable restaurant to sit and chat in. The atmosphere and the chairs are uncomfotable.

Love the hot soups! Especially the beef in bone soup! It was boiling hot and had alot of meat on the bones. Also has a taste of the shrimp noodle bowl (currently labelled as the 'Fresh Rice Line'). The broth was definately more rich in flavour due to the added seafood flavour to the base broth. So if you like your broths more flavorful, get that. Although I knew there were unlimited noodles, 1 bowl of noodles left me super full! The Lotus root stuffed rice is sweet, mushy and cold. The taste was ok, but I didn't like the texture. Also tried the cheese strawberry drink. It tasted like a liquid strawberry cheesecake SO GOOD!!!

The atmosphere is quite pleasant. There is unlimited noodles and their bubble tea selection is great. However, I will note that the tomato broth is quite bland. I'm vegetarian and therefore, I wasn't sure if I could add the chili. Other than that, you can get a nice fully belly

A new fixture on Jasper and 104th. This rice noodle chain makes its way to Edmonton and it doesn't disappoint. You have many options of hot soup and various proteins. And I mean hot, the bowl comes sizzling to your table. I had the sour & spicy flavoured noodle soup with XiangXi pulled beef. It was such a great blend of flavours. The tender beef mixed with the sweetness of the vegetables helped the rice noodles suck up all that flavour. And the noodles were refillable which is a win in my books. I want to experience all that broth! Will definitely be going again.

I just wanted bubble tea - the place across from Dagu was closed (not sure why, no reason on the door). Went to Dagu to pick up a mango cheese drink. It was worth it. I came back to try another drink.

There's a couple of tables inside and a few chairs by the window. There's also a few tables outside in the front yard. We ordered an Iced Vanilla Latte with oat milk and a Chai with oat milk. For sandwiches, we ordered a Veggie Wrap with chicken and a Reuben. I was very impressed to see one guy behind the counter making food, taking orders, serving, and just handling everything going on. I was very impressed with my latte. Coffee was flavorful, sweetened perfectly, and oat milk was creamy too. Honestly, I felt like the coffee here was better than even some coffee shops in the area. Great quality coffee. We got our sandwiches and were pleasantly surprised that they were also served with fruit. We had a couple slices of oranges and watermelon, it was so cute. Our sandwiches were delicious. The Veggie Wrap was tasty, full of fresh veggies, and portion size was great too. And the Reuben was hearty, meat quality was top notch, and overall really good. We even talked to the Leonardo himself. He was very down to earth and friendly. One thing I really liked was that he was upfront about what wasn't available and always told me and other customers when he could get to them. I appreciated the honesty. That man was HUSTLING. I have nothing but great things to say about this place. We'll definitely be back and I'll recommend this place to anyone for good food, coffee, and that cozy comfortable cafe vibe.

I had ordered a wrap instead of a sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff was lovely to accommodate me by removing some items off the predesigned list for the wrap due to diet restrictions. The wrap itself was burrito sized, so be prepared for leftovers if you're only slightly hungry. The cookie I had was massive and soft! Honestly with the bubbly, cookie and wrap it was a full sized meal for supper (for me). The extra Yelp bag of goodies was definitely an added YES surprise! Surprisingly they were quite delightful and aren't too expensive. I went around 12:30pm on a Wednesday and it was quite busy. The line went by quick. I tried the Holiday Turkey and my partner tried their Original 1762. The Holiday Turkey literally tasted like a holiday turkey in stuffing within cranberry sauce. I was pretty satisfied with how spot on the taste was and it made me feel like I was eating a Christmas meal. My partner enjoyed his Original 1762 roast beef sandwich. Both sandwiches were flavourful and warm. They give you an option to choose between whole wheat and white bread. We got the combo so it came with soup and a soft drink as well. They gave us an empty cup for the soft drinks and it was self serve at the counter. The chicken noodle soup was well made also. Overall I definitely recommend checking this place out if you haven't. The sandwiches were filling and worth the value.

PALS!!! I have been a huge fan since their opening day in 2022 and it's about time that I finally…read morewrite about them! Part of the venerable Strathcona restaurant monopoly of The Next Act (the OG), Meat (the meaty one), Pip (the brunchy one), and Marlo (the taco one), Pals holds their own as the sandwich one. This five-restaurant stronghold wouldn't work if each and every one of them wasn't so dang good. But they are. Pals showed up on the scene after Pip moved across the street and there was enough room in the building to fit a delightful little sandwich shop in there as well. Pals to the left and Pip to the right - and one (beautiful) shared washroom downstairs for both. It's a pretty harmonious arrangement as far as I can tell! Pals might be a small little sandwich guy but it boasts a beautiful outdoor patio in the summertime that just about doubles the space. Named Favourite Handheld on the Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2024 list and most recently awarded Best Sandwich 2025 in EDify Magazine, you'll also find them on the Worldwide Faves section of this very website. The interior is somewhat small but very bright and fresh. Casual light wood high-tops, counter seating, a few bench seats near the back, and the aforementioned patio. You'll also note pops of their signature yellow, especially on their unmistakable brick facade outside. The restaurant feels breezy and gives off a comfortable vibe that makes you want to "stop in to grab a quick sandwich." And maybe people-watch out the window for a few minutes. The staff is also super friendly which makes you feel like you're hanging out with your pals. (Ha! See what I did there?) Situated at a table on a Saturday evening, I was looking for the maximum Pals experience! Pals is all about the drinks and offers an impressive array of cocktails and beer, especially for such a small shop. The Winter Sangria sounded like a seasonally appropriate delight while their Caesar made with pepperoncini brine is an ideal compliment to their use of pepperoncini elsewhere on the menu. On this visit I opted for the Strathcona Sling (Gin, cherry liqueurs, orange & pineapple juice, bitters - $15.00) which not only sounded delicious but also might be the signature beverage of the entire neighbourhood. This drink sounds like it might be pretty sweet but I didn't find that about it. It's very refreshing and the grown-up flavours from the gin and bitters hold their own. What sounds like a kid's shirley temple actually tastes quite adult. This would absolutely be the quintessential patio beverage on a hot summer day during the Fringe - a cocktail that lives up to it's name. The Pals food menu is an extravaganza of sandwiches! There are fourteen different sandwiches in two categories; made hot or served fresh. There's usually a feature sandwich as well. Be prepared for sandwiches like you've never seen them before! But the snacks, soups, and salads are incredible as well and the quality certainly doesn't stop with the sandwiches alone. In an effort to dig into this part of the menu a bit more I thought it prudent to order the Soup & Salad Combo (Choice of soup & salad with house focaccia - $19.00). A great option if maybe you don't want a sandwich. Pals usually has two different soups and salads on the go so you're able to customize this dish with whatever combo you like. I chose the House Soup (dill pickle & spicy pepperoncini) and The Other House Salad (iceberg lettuce, tomato, green onion, blue cheese, bacon, buttermilk ranch). Let's start with the soup. How unique!! You've never tasted a zingy little bowl of soup like this before! I don't know about you, but I love a dill pickle soup very much (maybe it's my Eastern European ancestry) but the addition of pepperoncini totally changes the game. This soup packs a punch but in the most interesting and delicious way. And then the salad! I ordered this one because it sounded like a wedge salad (one of my favourites) without the wedge. A deconstructed wedge salad, if you will. And boy did it deliver! The flavours of tomato and bacon together are so classic and the generous chunks of crumbled blue cheese were perfection. I loved how well-dressed everything was - not a dry leaf in the house. A salad may sound like a boring thing to order but certainly not in this case. Let's not forget the focaccia which cannot be treated as an afterthought because it was incredible. This bread was impossibly light while still possessing the unctuous and oily quality that you want from a focaccia. The crust was impossibly crispy and dusted in salt. What a dream! Honestly, I know that you need to order a sandwich... But maybe you don't? I'm going to have an existential crisis about this. But yes, I obviously ordered a sandwich. This might be an unpopular opinion but I highly favour the "served fresh" sandwiches at Pals by a lot. The BLT is the best in the entire city, I swear. The Burrata is completely insane - I've never seen a stack of prosciutto so high.

This time we made it a point to come in time before everything was sold out. When we arrived, we got seated very quickly. The inside was designed very minimal, simple, and clean. My boyfriend ordered the Yuzu Shio Ramen and I ordered the Hokkaido Miso Ramen. We both added chicken to our dishes as well. Both of our ramen were good. I liked the citrus notes in the Yuzu Shio, it was a very light broth. For me, the Hokkaido Miso Ramen was more of my style. I liked the creamy broth. It was robust, I like the umami and savory flavors. All of the veggies tasted fresh. The green onions and the mushrooms were my favorite. And the noodle consistency was just how I liked it to be. Chewy, not too soft or overcooked. Of course the miso ramen had 3 types of miso bases so it would be salty, it was just a tad saltier than I would've liked. But it didn't take away from the whole dish, I still liked what I ordered. All in all, we had a good experience. Also they only take debit or cash. I didn't realize that until later so when I was trying to pay, of course it wouldn't take my credit card at all. So yeah that's one thing to keep in mind. Obviously Tokiwa Ramen is known for their ramen, but I was also surprised to see rice bowls on their menu too. If I ever get the chance again, I would definitely love to try their Tokiwa Style Beef Gyudon.
