Lately though, like the last two months, the pastries have all been being cooked a little longer maybe? They used to always be white on the bottom still, but now they are light brown. However, the owner is super passionate with his work and is originally from Japan so you know he perfected his products before opening this bakery. Asides from this one, this family business has other stores in Japan and India. My favorite is the sweet cream cheese even though Mahoroba is known for their Kobe cream, which are both stuffed with fillings. You can say that they don't skimp. It's hard to leave without purchasing a box of goodies even though they do run out super early, especially on the weekends. If you aren't big on sweets, they have savory items. The meatball pan is my favorite the meatballs just does really well with the bread. Not going to lie, but I used to work here when they first opened in 2009 and I would never get tired of eating the meatball pan or the green tea melon pan during my break. After all these years, I would have a craving from time to time so I always return and say hello to the owner. Besides, they make a lovely goodie box for a party and I always throw in a bag of dinner rolls because the quality of their bread is so soft and delicious. I'll be lucky if I still have 1/4 of the bag by the time I get home.

I've been coming to Estelle's Bakery & Patisserie for years since I used to live only a block away,…read moreso it became one of my favorite places to walk to for tea and desserts. I've since moved out of state, but during my last visit in January this year, the treats and drinks were just as delicious as I remembered. This was always one of my favorite spots to spend a few hours catching up with girlfriends over tea and pastries. The ambience is lovely and gives off fancy tea party vibes, making it perfect for casual conversations, book discussions, or just relaxing with something sweet. My personal favorites are the rose macaron and the mont blanc desserts. If I'm feeling hungry, I usually order the ratatouille, and the vanilla bean French toast is amazing when I want something sweet but filling. Matcha is always my go-to drink here too (though it's on the sweet side, so I don't think it's ceremonial grade). I remember my first visit; It was when I stopped by later in the day looking for a birthday cake for my son's 8th birthday about five years ago. I ended up choosing their chocolate mousse cake on a whim since it was one of the cakes they still had on display, and it turned out to be a good decision. My son loved it, but it was too chocolatey for me so he ended up having most of the cake. Still one of the memories I remember most from here. It was something I kept in mind that if I wanted more options and variety, I should arrive earlier in the day. There are a few downsides that keep this from being a full 5 stars for me though. The parking lot is very small and street parking can be difficult, especially during busy hours. The place gets crowded very easily, which is why I usually preferred walking there when I lived nearby. There's often a guard stationed at the front kindly holding the door open, though I imagine that's also due to the neighborhood. Pricing is definitely on the expensive side, but honestly that's fairly expected with a patisserie. My biggest issue is that service can noticeably decline when they're overwhelmed. Depending on when you visit, the line can get absurdly long (almost out the front door), and I've experienced slower service and even had my drink mixed up with another customer's order once. Since I order oat milk due to lactose intolerance, getting the order correct is pretty important. Thankfully, when the bakery isn't overly busy and adequately staffed, the employees are attentive, friendly, and very helpful with the ordering process if you have questions. It is still one of the Sacramento bakeries I miss after moving away. It was so lovely to have a bakery down the street from home.

I dont have photos of what I got for valentines day but remmeber them being ok but nothing mind-blowing Maybe its just the DOCO one that sucks but I went to give them another chance the day before mother's day and sorely regretted it. I got the matcha croissant ive been hearing about, the new blueberry cream croissant and the mango passionfruit entremet. The Croissants were a huge flop. Blueberry had barely enough filling inside-the cream itself was tasty but croissant was rough in texture and not flaky. Matcha was a bit more flaky and had more filling-I wouldn't say GENEROUS amount as some have said but maybe I just got a bad one. The cream was too subtle -it was more like vanilla with a hint of matcha. The entremet was the only one that didnt suck-it was delicious but again I wouldn't say anywhere in Sacramento has wowed me yet with their entremets compared to places in the bay except for the ones that ginger Elizabeth has had in the past-the flavor itself was on point, i will say the texture of the entremets have a majority layer of the jelly part-if they could perfect the variety of layers you're supposed to get in each bite I would be more impressed as thats the whole point of enjoying an entremet. Honestly I should have just gotten one pastry to try in one day as they are pricey-i paid 31 not including the tip fot my pastries, and in this economy one cannot waste that much on disappointing sweet treats lol

Once you're inside, peruse the bakery case, order, pay, and be on your way! They have some picnic tables outside, or you can take it to go. We chose to take ours to go. My best friend got a few pastries, and I enjoyed the Cardamom Bun and the Salty Sesame Croissant. The bun was super cardamom-forward, which I enjoyed, and I loved the savory nuttiness. Both pastries were flaky, buttery, and so soft. I enjoyed sampling my best friends pastries as well! One of the best things about Moonbelly is that there's nothing super specific you have to order because everything is worth trying. This is your go-to place for desserts. The pastries are off the chart. They got everything you could possibly want. I've had most of the things that just listed and they really appealed to my inner fat man. Whenever I walk in there and I see the pastries just waiting for me behind the glass It's like an edible amusement park. Now I've also had breakfast there. You can order pancakes and we often order the blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon and their bacon is perfect, and the eggs are fluffy. It's a solid breakfast. Plus you know I'm not eating that without a pastry on the side. This service is incredible. Everyone is so helpful and even if there's a long line it moves fast. The waiters waitresses and bust people are on it. Dishes don't pile up on tables. Even though the parking lot is packed and you go in there and the restaurant may be packed You're still going to find a table. I like sitting out on the patio because it's not as noisy as being inside. Now my girlfriend and I have been regular customers of elite bakery on Fair oaks boulevard and that place is also five stars. But Ettore's edges them out because of a larger menu, daily specials and a larger selection of pastries. Plus it's a little cheaper. This is a bad place to go if you're on a diet. But other than that go there and get your grub on. I'm there all the time. You'll probably see me there. This place gets the coveted four pigs.

I decided to go for the chicken and mushroom congee. (rice porridge.). I also got a green onion hotdog roll to take home with me. To drink, I had a green tea with lemon. The congee was amazing. A rich complex flavor. It had a little bit of ginger in it, you could definitely taste the ginger, but it did not overwhelm the rest of the porridge. The chicken was good, and for the mushroom, they used black mushrooms, which have a deeper flavor than regular mushrooms. So very good. It looked like a small bowl, but I couldn't finish it. It also came with Chinese donuts to put in the porridge. Chinese donuts are a little bit different. They definitely taste like a doughnut, except they are not sweet at all. The green tea was very good, and they didn't overdo it with the lemon, and that hotdog roll that I had later, the pastry was delicious with just a little bit of a "chew" to it, they were definitely high-quality hot dogs, and it wasn't just green onion. They had something mixed in, I'm not sure what it was, but it didn't taste raw like green onion can. Just a great lunch. I'll be back. Thanks.

I was unable to get the brown sugar biscuit shown on their instagram for the month of February so it's possible it sold out before I could place my order, so make sure to stay on top of that if you want a specific flavor! The biscuit sandwiches were pretty good but since the biscuits are so thick, it's a bit hard to eat as a sandwich. I basically just ate mine without the top half and then ate the top half separately after, with the delicious strawberry butter that I added to my order. If I could round up to 4.5 stars, I would, for that strawberry butter! The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because although they were good sandwiches, I wouldn't say it was anything too unique, especially at $13 for the most expensive sandwich (with andouille sausage) and $10 for the cheapest (egg and cheese). I wish I had gotten the chance to try the brown sugar biscuit because we only had plain and blueberry for ours, which seem to be more obtainable at other places. I want to try something more unique that would bring me back to this place only. I'll definitely keep an eye out because I want to try more of the different butter flavors and more biscuit flavors!
