My initial message: "Hi Brian, I am just looking for a quote for 2023 tax filing, not to actually start it yet. We will be needing help on a couple of tax situations this year." His exact response: "Understood. I will provide a quote for 2023 during our call. I just sent the questionnaire." He then emailed me the questionnaire; I put I was interested in "Individual taxes" and sent it back to him, I NEVER put I was interested in Investment management or any other kind of financial services. So he knew this whole time I only wanted tax preparation. He still proceeded to call me today and asked a few questions related to our tax situation. Then at the end of the call he asked if I was looking for someone to manage our investments, I said not at this point...we are only looking for tax preparation now. His tone completely changed and he abruptly told me in a condescending manner we are not a good fit because they are saturated with tax preparation clients and he's looking for clients who want investment management. I was pretty shocked at the change in his tone and his annoyance once I told him I didn't need someone to manage our investments. Again, I made it VERY clear from the start I was looking for tax preparation services only from my initial message AND the questionnaire he had me fill out. I honestly don't know why he still called and was rude when he knew he couldn't take on any more clients who only wanted tax filing.

If I could give zero stars, I would. They don't keep appointments and claim they can't get a hold…read moreof you when they don't call. I received an email the prior day reminding me that I would receive a call that never came. I tried calling 10 mins after the scheduled call the following day since they hadn't called, and of course, I got their VM. Days later they emailed and quickly turn it around and blamed me claiming I am "so hard to get a hold of." They request to upload my tax documents which I already had a month prior yet they claimed that I hadn't which causes a delay in processing my taxes and is just an excuse so they can once again shift the blame on me saying I didn't do my part with providing the docs. The date when those docs were uploaded is time stamped so not sure how they can claim that the docs weren't there. These are all items I can overlook but what I won't overlook is when I received a confrontational call from Jose demanding to know what was going on. He would not let me speak and spoke over me the entire conversation. I have never experienced such unprofessionalism and combative behavior from someone you're paying for a service. He was arrogant and rude. I didn't expect an apology regarding his dismissive and disrespectful behavior regarding the service I paid for but I certainly did not expect to receive such an abusive and confrontational phone call. He absolutely made it worse by calling. Absolute horrible service and lack of self control. He would not stop raising his voice and talking over me so I hung up on him. Clearly he is used to talking this way to people. He claimed that he couldn't electronically file my taxes because my identify was compromised and someone else had already filed in my name which makes zero sense and waiting until the day prior to taxes being due to let me know that I had to print, sign, and overnight my taxes to the IRS yet charged me as if he had filed electronically. The most unethical service I have ever experienced. Do not use this person. You'll regret you did.

As part of my green card application I was asked by my immigration lawyer to provide the immigration authorities with a letter from a CPA. The letter was about three lines long and required minimal accounting work, which summed up to estimating 2013 annual income based on previous tax return filings. Basically, a work that would take more time to type up than to prepare the "analysis" (which had already been put together by another bookkeeper who had provided Ms. Suzie with the materials and the analysis beforehand). It seemed that Ms. Suzie, too, was well aware of the minuscule amount of work my letter required, since when I asked for an ETA she indicated that the letter could be produced within less than a day. I'm assuming that my question also indicated to Ms. Suzie my pressing need for the letter, as I had also mentioned to her that I was required to submit it as part of my immigration process. Ms. Suzie told me that writing the letter would cost me $500. Yes, you read that right. 500 bucks for three lines and a few minutes worth of work!! At first, I was certain I had misstated to her what the letter should contain and that as a result of that Ms. Suzie may have been under the impression that I had required more work than what was really needed, since surely no one in their right mind would charge so much for such little work. When I called Suzie to inquire about the fee I was faced with a condescending and rude tone that quickly turned into a full on obnoxious and testy attitude when I tried to make sense of her fee (if it was a flat consultation fee, for example, or an hourly charge). Not only did Suzie avoid answering my questions, but she also hissed at me that she "urges" me to "go around and call other CPAs", since she is "sure" that I would get some other firm to write the letter for me for a smaller fee, and that she is "happy" with that. I have no idea why anyone would talk to a client this way, but I sure am not going to give business to this kind of rude customer service. I hope that Suzie's understanding of my immigration status and pressing need for the letter didn't factor into her decision to jack up the price for me. I don't know. But given that she was so reluctant to explain her fee to me I also can't know better. I would like to mention though that I do not know Mr. Wendroff and I have never spoken to him about the fee I was given nor the work I was asking for, so it might be that he was not involved in my request at all. If so, I'm very sorry for giving his business such a bad rating, which is solely based on my awful experience with Ms. Suzie Korth.

A couple years ago I got the kind of scary mail from the IRS you never want to see, and it's…read morebecause of a straightforward W-2 mistake David made on my income tax return. He still won't pay me back for it. The facts: - In 2021 I got a decent-sized raise at my job. (Brag?) When it came time to file my 2021 taxes, David accidentally COPY AND PASTED the much lower income from the previous year, 2020. So he underreported my income by a lot. Of course he had my accurate 2021 W-2 -- but he was too disorganized, rushed or careless to use it. - Not only that, he copy and pasted some *unemployment income* from 2020 into my 2021 return, so -- to add insult to injury -- not only did he massively under-report my salary, he also slightly over-reported it with non-existent unemployment income. - I ended up owing almost $10K in back taxes, interest, and an extra-high penalty. - After I paid the back taxes, he tried to help with appealing the penalty. But he did this by sending the IRS a half-hearted ashy letter about numbers that were "entered incorrectly" and he didn't specifically request or argue for an abatement in the penalty. - (I also paid a ridiculous amount of interest.) - Unsurprisingly the IRS rejected this attempt and ruled that the penalty must be paid. - It's around this time that communication with David York became especially spotty, where he said he'll call the IRS...but then he fell off the map and it took weeks to hear back from him. - I paid the penalty by the deadline. - He called the IRS (after the deadline lol) then emailed me claiming that the "the penalty and interest have been removed" and I'm like...wtf are you talking about. That's probably because of what I paid already?? - I've asked him to reimburse me just for some of penalties and interest, $1,852.68 -- which doesn't even include an earlier interest payment or state penalties that his mistake bubbled up. Gave him an address to send a check. But he hasn't. It's been radio silence from David York. - "You should hear back from me by Monday" is the last thing he wrote to me, back in January 2025, words to echo on into the void forever. - Silver lining though, I recently learned Rihanna's accountant also owes her money so now I have something in common with Rihanna. Read the one-star reviews. They'll save you a lot of time and $$$$$ in the future. I also noticed his business has a second profile on yelp, which might help him get around these one-stars. You should choose literally anyone else to do your taxes.
