Lercara Friddi birthplace of Lucky Luciano and Frank SInatra's father. Not a tourist destination but they do have a Frank Sinatra Museum and the fantastic restaurant Da Peppe. It's like walking into Great Grandma's dining room. Small place, nothing fancy but the food is super local. Since Lercara Friddi is more inland, there are few seafood restaurants. but Da Peppe specializes in seafood. I got the mixed seafood dish. There were about half a dozen different tastings including a fish cake, shrimp, smoked tuna, anchovies, etc. They also have a typical pasta with anchovies and pine nuts. Both dishes were excellent. House wine not so good so I would ask for bottle wines.
Friendly service, spoke very little English but we did manage to communicate and help us navigate the menu. Although if you been to many Italian restaurants in the US you could understand more than half the Italian language menu.
Oh by the way make sure you sit with your back to the wall just in case Lucky Luciano's grandchildren show up:). read more
