Phenomenal, remarkable, outstanding, and tremendous are just a few adjectives that come to mind…read morewhen trying to describe this little gem! Hyperbole? Maybe, but hear me out before you jump to that conclusion. I've written it before, and I'll write it again, sometimes eateries that you stumble upon turn out to be so much more rewarding than those you set out for. We were looking for a different restaurant and couldn't find it. So, when standing on one side and looking across the Naab River, in the the quaint little town of Kallmünz, we saw a small patio filled with people drinking and dining. So off we walked across the small walking bridge that was built in 1752 (BTW, this little town needs its own praise). It had been lightly raining, so some tables on the patio were tucked in under the cover, while others were left to the elements a bit. They were at full capacity inside, so out in the elements we sat. We wouldn't have it any other way as it was just beautiful! The rain let up, and the ambiance was just so inviting. The staff (Waitress and I believe the owner based on the fact he was drinking beer while working) couldn't have been more accommodating. I believe we were the only Americans (or any English speaking people) there, so they pulled out the English menus and took it upon themselves to go ahead and precut our pizza for us. Note to new European travelers: pizzas are not precut. Most folk will use a knife and fork to eat their pizza, so if you want it a la American, ask them in advance to cut it for you. Not to belabor the point, but that view was so special. They had a gate for entrance right onto the patio. The river was literally no more than say 10 feet from the edge of the patio, which played host to an array of wildlife. While waiting for our food to arrive my daughter and wife strolled out and about to pass the time away. Speaking of food, yup, it's time to whip out those superlative adjectives again. Ok, for context, just two weeks prior we were in Rome. Obviously we dined out every night and I'm tellin' ya, hands down, the food at this little German Pizzeria beat the pants off of everything we tried in Rome. In my book, that speaks volumes! We shared a pizza, I had tortellini, so did my wife, but with a different sauce. My daughter had rigatoni and obviously we all dug into each other's dish a bit. Individually baked in their own dishes, of course. Very cheesy, great sauce, just awesome. The pizza was spot on as well! Good beer selection and all at an amazingly low price. Trust me, we've been traveling and eating out for the past straight month and by far, this has been the best value to date. Three main entrees, one pizza, three beers and one soda all for 40 Euros. Yes, you read that correctly! Fantastic meal, fantastic ambiance, good service, and a fantastic price! We are so going back, and if you haven't yet, you need to go there. If you have, you know! And you know you'll be going back too. Cheers!

Pasta e Vino does it the right way and it shows. By having such a tight fresh pasta menu three items) they serve great pasta with very nice sauces. We went early, and on a Monday so seating was not an issue, the the tables that had reserved signs on them let us know this place fills up fast and it's not that big to begin with. It's a cool little space with a deli case right at the front so there is no hiding anything. Our two servers took great care of us, explained the menu and took our order. We both ordered the pasta carne with dirty pork and a red sauce. Tagliatelle was the pasta of the day, not sure if that changes or not. We also ordered house wine, red for me and white for the lovely K. The 1/8 litre 4 1/4 ounces for 3.5 euros wasn't expensive, but it also wasn't enough. You can order more (1/4 litre is 6 euros) which we would next time. The food came out hot and quickly and very nicely covered in Parmigiana Reggiano and was a good sized portion for 13.5 euros. Would we rave about it, probably not, but it was great!

They serve 3 specials to choose from for the night. Hubby and I both went with the pasta with sausage. Yummy . And the house red wine was delicious. Reasonable prices. Service was excellent. They also have a deli case and I would be trying that lasagna if I lived nearby.
