General ambiance - friendly, inclusive, not at all snobbish about their pizza (although they could afford to be if they wanted to, given the quality). Friendly + unobtrusive staff, but make sure you book way in advance (a week in advance) as it gets fully booked for busy times. For this joint, because the pizzas are so good, I would recommend sharing a few pizzas (say, 2 between 3) so that you get a sample of the range. More variety. We went for the spinach, egg and black olive one and the 3 cheeses. The spinach one was ace. Every bite tasted different. The crust wasn't too doughy, which is often a problem with these pizza places - you feel like you're consuming a whole loaf of bread along with your pizza. It was actually JUICY, which is not an adjective I have ever used to describe a pizza before. Summary: '...and it was good.' The 'Three Local Cheeses' one was also very decent. I like the idea of a 3, not 4 cheeses. That's all Flour & Ash need. You could see and taste all the individual cheeses, too. It wasn't just one conglomerated cheesy mess. The pizza is strong in this one.

I love pizza! I love Gloucester Road. I love Flour and Ash!…read more It's been a while since I've found a small pizza place that I've absolutely loved. There's a few good places to 'grab a slice' in Bristol, but none quite like Flour and Ash. The restaurant is intimately small, with really nice, large windows and a row of tables against each wall and a row a bigger tables through the middle of the restaurant. Now, the pizza. OMG, the pizza! I was lucky enough to go with a few people, so I got to try a slice of a few, but the stand outs for me was the Ox Cheek and the Filler Steak. The Ox Cheek had a béchamel base with Ox cheek and parmesan, which was surprisingly amazing. It wouldn't have been something I normally went for, as it didn't have tomato base, but I saw it on a recent blog post so had to try it. When I go again I'll try something else, but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't been before. The fillet steak pizza was HUGE! The tomato base was absolutely delicious and the steak was perfect; not at all fatty or gristly! They sell lots of local beers and ciders and they actually had one of the best malbecs I've ever tasted. If you like red wine, you seriously need to try it. Flour & Ash? BIG fan!

@Eating.Drinking:…read more @Tamburino.Village (@TamburinoRistorante) (@TamburinoGold) is a small Italian Restaurant chain based in Somerset. The first restaurant opened in Yeovil back in 2005, and since then, Sicilian owner Domenico Taravella has not looked back, with three successful restaurants operating today in Street, Yeovil & Sherborne. * With a fine wine and drinks menu, we enjoyed our meal with a couple stunning bottles of Rose. This complimented the food perfectly as the conversation flowed in a wonderfully relaxed environment. * The presentation of the food is 10/10, and the taste, is easily an 11/10!! We enjoyed Starters and a Main Course. The starters seen here are the Bruschetta Salmone E Caprino, Salsiccia E Patate & the Insalata Caprese. Each dish prepared & made to perfection. * Our main dishes were: Penne Salmone E Asparagi (Penne pasta with fresh smoked salmon, asparagus and cherry tomatoes in a rich creamy tomato sauce.) Tagliatelle Dolce Vita (Tagliatelle pasta with king prawns, prawns and smoked salmon in our creamy tomato sauce.) Siciliana Pizza (Tomatoes, mozzarella, capers, black olives, anchovies and Sicilian oregano.) * This place is simply a must when visiting the Somerset area. All of their branches will no doubt continue their success, and continue with their high quality & high class service and food. * www.tamburino.co.uk *

An unexpected find and a fantastic selection of Italian dishes and pizzas…read more The rigatoni al'amatriciana with spicy sausage in a spicy tomato sauce and topped with grated Parmesan cheese was rich and delicious. The chicken al forno was like a traditional chicken parmigiana dish and was big enough to share and was served with chips and a small portion of salad. Their red sauce is vibrant and simple...not overly sweet or spicy. The star of the meal was their pizza made char-grilled in an oven with a near-perfect thin crust. The San Daniele pie we ordered came with buffalo mozzarella, rocket salad, shaved ham and shaved hard parmesan...it was mesmerizing. We enjoyed this spot so much we returned a few days later for a second visit, once again sampling more of that charred-crust pizza, spaghetti bolognese with a rich meat sauce and their lasagna della casa which was a traditional layered lasagna that was hearty and comforting. Both our meals there ended with a crème Brule that was served cold and creamy...a perfect way to finish off the experience.
