The Mens Room Adelaide is a great CBD barber half way down Hindley Street (109). Adam and Darren…read moreare both very experienced and offer either a basic clipper cut and shampoo or a more detailed scissor-clipper cut/shampoo/style service. Check out www.themensroomadelaide.com.au. Walk ins are okay although they prefer bookings. Hindley Street doesn't offer much parking but a few streets to the south-west do. Obviously it's also perfect for those who spend more time in the CBD be it for work or leisure and don't drive in. The salon itself is suitably decorated for the grand old building it's in, with wooden floors and just the required amount furniture, being two comfortable barber chairs, a third (old) one just for show, a sitting area with some magazines, the main counter and a wash/shampoo area to the rear. Lenny (Adam's dog) seems like he's part of the furniture but will respond to some patting, love and admiration (see his picture on their website). I've been coming here for quite a few years and can honestly say I haven't been disappointed. It's not one of those large unisex places where you feel like you're on a conveyer belt and your nostrils are filled with the smells of hair dye and nail technician chemicals, nor is it one of those latest trend places where you get a beer, a facial and a shoulder rub at the same time, but your haircut never looks like it should. I don't mix my massages with my haircuts although the beer idea...oh well. There is something very inviting about The Mens Room. It's a place for 'men', where conversations can be centered on sports, or girls, or something in the moment, or even nothing at all. It's a quick little 'time out' where you're treated well and leave the salon looking and feeling great.

I should of gave up then but i gave them a chance anyway so i went into the city paid for parking and went and found it in adelaide arcade on the balcony level. So i understand the idea of the idea of the place, a place that lads want to go and hang out and get their hair cut at the same time. So the decore is nice and the place has a cool feel but the service is really shit and unprofessional, so much so after i spent an hour waiting i decided it wasnt worth it and walked out. When i arrived there was Dodgeball on the tv, ok thats a funny lighthearted movie for customers to pass the time great. They have 4 barbers chairs they were all full, with 4 guys waiting at the time. So i was sitting there watching them cut, and they were incredibly slow, like ridiculously slow. Im glad I wasn't catching a bus because I would of missed it. But at a place that only does walk-in cuts, in the city on a Friday afternood/night (late night trading) you would think they would be trying to pick up the pace a little... but instead it was appropriate to physicaly stop cutting and watch a scene of the movie and it was most of them not just 1 worker. Plus stopping cutting to have personal conversations and joke around while they are suppose to be doing someone's hair isn't acceptable to me either. I know im dribbling but i am really dissapointed. Its suppose to be a retail buiseness and they weren't professional at all, i personally dont like being called bro 5 times in the first minute i enter the store. But if you have 2 hours to kill go ahead and get a haircut but be prepared to wait. Definitely the destination for metro scene kids, but definatley not for men. Poor effort boys....
