Decided to try this place due to its review, but it turned out to be a disappointment. Maybe the flavor is not what I'm used to. We got this thingy slice beef with artichokes that was highly recommended by the waiter. The meat was terribly dry and the artichoke was extremely stringy. The dish definitely needed more salt and flavoring. Next up was the pasta dish. The pasta was freshly made and cooked perfectly. But the mushroom sauce was flavorless and boring. The thick pasta needed heavier sauce to bring out the flavor, which was definitely lacking in this dish. Grill fish was the best dish that we got here. But, again, the salt needed more salt. I squeezed tons of lemon and added salt and pepper myself to bring out more flavor. It was good to have not the fish overcooked though. This would be the only dish worth ordering if you were to come eat here. Tip: Not a place I would recommend eating in Milan. read more

During the whole time in Italy, I had a whole bunch of different pastas. Honestly I was never a fan of pasta until I tried some in Italy!This pasta (pennette speciale alle bruno) made part of my top 5 pastas that I've ever eaten during our trip. The pasta was boiled to perfection and tasted quite fresh. The flavor was 5/5 and the customer service was outstanding. Our waiter really took good care of us and was very patient with waiting for me to figure out what i wanted. There's a whole lot on the menu but I'm glad I chose an excellent dish. It was probably a 2-5 minute walk from the main city center area but it was not far at all. read more

We had high hopes for this place based on the reviews, but we were let down. The risotto ala Milanese was disappointing. Didn't taste like a risotto at all, not creamy, more like an over cooked rice pilaf. The Milanese pork cutlet "looked" amazing, but was terribly bland. I don't normally like over seasoned food, but did expect some flavor in there. The papradelle pasta's flavor was really nice, but the pasta was over cooked. It turned mushy after a little while and was pretty much a clump if indistinguishable pasta and sauce. I was in Milan for a day before heading off to Brescia. This place is fantastic!! Great meal and great service and very reasonable prices for Milan (been here a few times). Loved the pasta and my gf had the Branzino (sea bass) which was amazing. Highly recommended and come and enjoy the amazing experience! read more

We got in late and wanted to try a place close to the hotel. We were recommended this place by the hotel front desk and based on the reviews, we expected a great experience. Not only was the food awful but the service made the experience even worse. Our waiter did not understand English which made ordering more of a challenge than it should have been. He continued to insist that we couldn't order a certain dish because it was too much food for the table. When we tried to explain that we would like the dish anyway, he gave us a firm no. A pleasant surprise. Ambience: Odd location but nice place inside and out. Service: Second to none. I gotta a waiter who was really nice and accommodating even when there was a mix-up due to a language mis-understanding. Food: I got one of their specials (a fish/artichoke pasta) by mistake but even though it wasn't what I originally wanted, it was terrific. Nice crusty fresh bread and a very generous poor of a very decent house wine. All good. Price: Good - especially compared to a lot of other lower quality places in the neighborhood. Loved this place. We went here 4 out of 5 nights. We came back because it was excellent every time. We came across it by chance as we had an apartment in the area. Wonderful food and service. Frequented by many locals and regular customers. The breaded veal - fantastic. Pasta Carbonara and Bolognese very good. The vanilla ice cream or gelato was the best we had in Italy and we have been here 3 weeks. Penne Abbreata was my wife's favorite. Come here and you won't be sorry. read more

My sister and I always enjoy a restaurant that appeals to the locals. We searched and found da Bruno's. We had been vacationing in Italy for almost 3 weeks. Each day we always ordered the red house wine and we're delighted with the taste and cost of the bottle. We did the same at this restaurant. The wine and food were good but when we got the bill the 1/2 liter bottle of wine was 30 euros. I felt certain this was a mistake because we ordered a house wine. The waiter told me it was not a mistake. We felt ripped off and disappointed. This was the only time during our time in Italy that happened to us but we wanted everyone to be aware of this occurrence. We wouldn't recommend this restaurant. read more

The atmosphere at Da Bruno is pleasant, unassuming, and decidedly Italian, which was exactly what we were looking for on our first night in Italy. The welcome was friendly, the white-coated waiters were efficient and accommodating, and the walls were lined with an eclectic mix of art, framed soccer (football) jerseys, and signed photos of famous people. However, the meal disappointed us thoroughly. They did not have the wine I wanted, a vino nobile de Montepulciano, and substituted a bland, unappealing wine in its place. I had spaghetti vongole which was extremely salty with dry pasta that didn't taste fresh. My main course, Veal cutlet Milanese primavera, was just plain terrible: a fried piece of veal with sliced tomatoes and arugula heaped on top. It was dry and bland. My wife's meal was better, which is what led me to rate 3 rather than 2 stars. Her pasta with porcini mushrooms served in a type of pastry bowl was delicious, creamy, and fresh. Despite the attentive and friendly staff and the homey environment, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more
