I had the best experience here today. I had originally purchased a bunch of shoes for my son online and he ended up getting ingrown nails at a year old :( my poor little guy that's when I knew I needed to come to the professionals. This place was highly recommended by all the mommy groups on Facebook. I went it and was greeted warmly. They measured my babies foot and turns out he was wearing sneakers that were two sizes too small. Owner even discounted the shoes for me and then gave my baby a balloon. The workers are friendly and provide personal service, from sizing of the foot, to putting the shoe on, and ultimately deciding if the shoe fits properly. This is the place I always go to for sneakers because there is a wide selection and I know the shoe I'm purchasing is the perfect fit for me no matter what brand. Local and I try my best to support local business. Winter 2014 has brought a ton of snow to NYC and my daughters foot is growing so fast. After the first snow storm she says, "Daddy my snow boots are tight!" So I decide that after school we will head over to Da Bar for snow boots. We walk in and there is no one in the store except a young lady and a gentleman who was on the phone and eventually walked into the back room. The young lady pointed out the snow boots and indicated that there was a 20% - 40% sale on snow boots. My daughters picks out a pair but before the young lady goes back to get them she measures her foot. Wow - I am thinking that there measuring tool is just broken. She says ok she is a 12.5 on one foot and 12 on the other so I'll bring a 13. I say no - bring a 12. Needless to say the 12 were roomy. Comfortable and not too big but big enough that I won't be back this winter for boots. The place has a decent selection of shoes/sneakers. Pricing and selection is obviously better at a bigger store but for a quick buy this works. We visit Da Bar once a year for uniform shoes and it is always a struggle to get the size that we want vs. what they are saying it should be. A little roomy is ok - kids looking like clowns - not so much. Be weary of the size and of course purchase the size you feel is the right one. read more

A colleague and I went into this neighborhood shoe store looking for some boot and shoe laces after eating at a local establishment. We were first greeted by a nice young lady who seemed to want to help us. However, a diminutive fellow came out of the back and was extremely rude to me and my colleague. There was no reason for this rudeness and I was taken aback by his abruptness in stating that he had no shoe laces or boot laces when in fact we could see they were hanging on the wall behind the counter. I am at a loss that this man would treat customers so badly. I frequent other stores in the neighborhood but I will never frequent this store again. His acumen to customer service was appalling. I cannot recommend a store that would treat its customers with disdain. I then when across the street to the local hardware store where I had two keys made. The guy in that store was so friendly and since it was the first time getting keys made there, he gave me a break 2 keys for $3 instead of the usual $2 each. What a difference between two store across from each other. One I will definitely give them my business and the other will never get my business. STAY AWAY from DA-BAR TOO located at 70-05 Grand Avenue. A MUST AVOID unless you want to be INSULTED!!! read more

so i returned the shoes to Reebok as the owner said to...Reebok returns them back to me with a letter stating to go back to the store...this is where these problems afe handled......I just donated the shoes because its just not worth the aggravation of dealing with THOSE people...and a young mother recently told me she has the same problem there...soon they will be gone and we will gwt another 99 cents store ....only giving one star because u cant post with less.. read more

We went to Da-Bar Too to buy a first pair of walking shoes for my granddaughter and sneakers for my husband. We had a wonderful experience at this store. The staff was extremely responsive and attentive. We found a large selection of shoes and sneakers, more choices than expected and at great sale prices! Our granddaughter is loving her sweet walking shoes and the prices were so good we also picked up sneakers for her. My husband bought sneakers and a pair of his favorite brand of shoes. I have been shopping at Da Bar Too Shoes for years for my children's school shoes. This store has the most amazing customer service, they are currently the only place that sizes children accurately and I can rely on them for proper fit as shoes are very important for a child's feet. Their prices are extremely fair and they always have a great selection of merchandise on sale to choose from if you are looking for a good deal. They always have sizes in stock and if they do not, they will special order for you which I find to be extremely gracious of them. The staff is very friendly and welcoming and I am so grateful that this store exists. I even find stylish name brand sneakers for myself such as Nike and Asics.
