I had the best experience training at this gym while I was in Dallas and am sad to have left it behind for the time being. Whether it was in the weight room or field work/HIIT, I always left the gym feeling both pumped and utterly beat, lol. The trainers were extremely friendly, positive and motivating...maybe even annoyingly so at times because you wanted to hate them for the workout but couldn't because they were just such freaking nice people. I found that afternoons were far less crowded than evenings, so that's when I went. Great atmosphere, challenging workouts, and all-in-all a great gym. I would definitely return! One thing that would make this gym even better is having an open gym period perhaps during non-busy afternoon hours so you could get in some extra work before/after a class either on the field or in the weight room.

When you walk inside the D1 sports arena your mouth drops. This place is cool. Giant indoor football field, weight training room, suspension trainers and more. State of the art. Yesterday we just had my son's 7th birthday party at D1 Sports. This was the first birthday party this particular location has ever done and I was nervous how it would turn out. I had high hopes and everything turned out awesome!! The two coaches, Roger and Scott, kept our group of 25 seven-year-olds organized and having a blast. They led the boys in a lot of fun games and activities: swinging on ropes, agility ladders, sleds, tackle drills, tug of war, soccer and more. The kids had so much fun!

I've been a member at D1 Dallas for close to 3 years. I'm 57 and quite possibly in the best shape of my life. I've always been fit, but this is different. D1 isn't a traditional gym, it's literally a training facility. Strength and cardio are important aspects of fitness, but they're fairly easy to accomplish on your own. The difference for me is that the coached, group workouts I do at D1 daily, test my agility, balance, speed, explosiveness, power, endurance and recovery. Add the competition of working along side a bunch of fit people half my age, it's the fountain of youth. Oh, and the people are really nice and coaches are great. You should join.

Do they have childwatch?

Hi Lina, we do not have a childcare service at our facility. However we do offer youth workouts at the same time as our adult workouts, we start at 7 years old! We also offer discounts for family members that sign up together.

There are 3 sinks on the wall on the outside wall which is away from the open area/locker area. I always use the sink which is to the far left of the 3 sinks in the left corner. The sink has been leaking for several months at the base of the faucet and the leak seems to be getting worse. It would be nice to get it repaired. Thanks!

After class, Rachel gave us a tour of the facility and was incredibly welcoming and friendly, just like the rest of the staff. The gym itself is beautiful, modern, and exceptionally clean. I especially loved the white and tan interior design--it creates a bright, upscale atmosphere. The women's locker room is impressive, featuring lockers for personal belongings, a sauna, and a cold plunge. There are also convenient water refill stations throughout the gym. One of the most unique features is the slide, which definitely adds some personality and fun to the space! There's also an outdoor workout area in the corner for anyone who prefers exercising outside. Overall, Recess offers a great combination of high-quality fitness classes, excellent amenities, and a welcoming community. I would definitely recommend checking it out.

My friend lives in an apartment in the village and she has access to this gym, so while I was…read morestaying with her, we decided to come and work out together. The area where the gym is located is extremely nice, the commons where all of the shared village grounds are (including restaurants and coffee shops, along with this gym) is extremely upscale. My friend told me that in the past, it cost five dollars to bring a guest to this gym, but when we came on a Sunday morning, they told us it was actually $20. We went ahead and went for it since it was just one day, but in the future, just be aware of that. The gym itself is very nice, the facilities are very clean, especially in the locker rooms, and there was a plethora of equipment. Walking in there is a check in desk, and just to the left there is a big staircase next to the indoor space housing a basketball court. If you go up the stairs, there are a lot of machines up there along with free weight /free space areas with kettle bells and yoga mats etc. There's also a small outdoor area with some machines, including a battle rope and a few others. If instead of going up those stairs on entering you keep going towards the back, the locker rooms will be on your right, and there's some additional equipment under the staircase adjacent to the basketball court. Around the corner, there is also a lot more freeway equipment, including a Smith machine (my personal favorite) and free bars for squatting/benching as well as Dumbbells and things of that nature. I noticed also an outdoor area with like maybe a parkour area? I wasn't sure exactly what it was but looked like a grown up jungle gym. And just behind that, there was a large (and busy!) tennis court. On the other side of the gym itself, there were also some large fields that looked like maybe they're for soccer or some other field sport? I didn't see any soccer goals though. There's also a pretty long sidewalk surrounding area that would be nice to walk around, but just be mindful it's not a very shaded area and in the summer in Texas it's pretty hot so I would be careful about that. If you're living in the village, the location of the gym is really great because it's so close by. My friend and I were running late so we actually did drive (took 1-2 min from her apt) and parked in the parking garage underneath the village area; on the Sunday morning that we came it was just free to park there and we didn't even have to take a ticket, the bars were just up when we came in when we left. However, I imagine that if it wasn't a weekend, you may have to get a ticket and pay or validate. Last thing to note: even though it was a Sunday morning, there was a pretty decent number of people in that gym. I never had to wait for anyone to use any equipment or any machines, but I did see some people talking to each other about that. My friend told me that it was basically "empty as far as she was concerned," compared to how it is during the week when apparently it's much busier and you do sometimes have to wait for equipment. Overall, this place is really nice, and given im thinking about possibly moving to Dallas in a few years i am quite strongly considering this area because of how nice it is, and because of the presence of this gym! I wish they hadn't increased the price for guests (or had a fee at all), but for those living here and just using the facilities complementarily, this is a really nice place.

I began classes at The Gym just over a year ago after a leading a completely sedentary lifestyle…read more The workouts are fairly rigorous, but the coaches are excellent and can help modify any portion of the workout, as needed. I attend the fitness classes, which combine strength and cardio work, without the more complicated barbell lifts found in CrossFit classes. If you're already in a healthy place, you should be able to jump in and go immediately. If you're more like I was a year ago, the coaches can help you understand how to ease into an exercise regimen in a healthy way that won't get you hurt. The Gym has a friendly atmosphere/culture. Everyone is encouraging and kind. The coaches are exceptionally helpful and unless you have extensive experience (and even if you do), I believe the coaching/help is worth the extra cost relative to what you'd spend at a mega-gym.

The class sizes are small, so there is a lot of personal attention given, which makes it an excellent value. Before a bike accident I was a competitive off-road athlete and my fitness achieved at the gym helped me to advance further and ride faster than I thought was possible. After the accident and starting over with fitness and mobility, the gym and coaches were great at helping me modify the workouts so that I could participate and rehabilitate. I love just being able to show up and have a plan ready to go, and the group workout environment is great whether you like it for competitive reasons or to just be around some friends. Whether you are a beginner or have years of experience, there is something for you at this gym!
