Do you love good food, good atmosphere and a restaurant that won't be kicking you out the door at…read more8pm to go home? Wish that you didn't have to traipse into the city of Brisbane to get a good meal? If this sounds like you then Ya Ya's must be on your list of restaurants to try. Located in Samford Village it's an easy drive if you live North side of Brisbane and well worth the effort. This eatery is not about fine dining, it's about sharing great food and drinks with friends or perhaps taking your sweetheart for a special meal where its more about the food and company than linen table cloths. An open air style dining space located in front of a bar area and the day time cafe, Ya Ya's is funky, retro and real. Our highlight and delight has been that 5 months apart our food experiences have been exceptional. Both visits were as a table of 4 which meant maximising the samples off the menu, although I'd go as far as to say you really couldn't pick wrong no matter what you choose to eat. My tip would be share... it's not compulsory but really probably essential given how good the food was. This is just a sample of some of the delights that tickled our taste buds: - chips cooked to crunchy perfection and well seasoned with herbs and spices - half a chargrilled chicken with spiced Couscous and chimchuree - Amazing Cauliflower chargrilled w. Tumaric - Ham hock w cornichons and pickled onions, toasted sourdough and tasty cheese - Crispy chicken pieces with chili sauce - Green salad w. Beans, brocolli, mint and Persian feta - Scallops w parsnip mash, prosciutto and croutons - Beef cheek Ragu w. Orricette pasta - Afragato w. Pedro xeminz sherry, not your basic Add to a wonderful menu a varied and delicious wine list, including one of my all time favourites, Shaw and Smith Chardonnay, plus a good range of beers and great bar set up and you really can't go wrong. Ya ya's service is friendly but not intrusive. Each time I felt like we were valued as customers and the staff really wanted us to have a good time. I would suggest making a booking to guarantee yourself a table, particularly on the weekends for dinner. Whilst it may be some time between visits this is definitely one of my all time favourite places to eat in Brisbane.

I stumbled across this place on my way out to Cedar Creek one day and I couldn't be more happy about deciding to head on in and have a late lunch and a couple of ice cold ciders. There was a number of factors that drew me into this place, the primary one being that the Samford hotel across the road had already closed its kitchen and I was famished. The second of which was the name "Ya Ya", the moment I saw it it reminded me of one of my favorite places in the world called Railay in Thailand and another bar there with the same name 'Ya Ya Bar'. This one is quite different and a far cry from the Rasta inspired cushion dominated space in South East Asia but what it lacks in comfort and $1 beers it most certainly makes up for in awesome cocktails, cold drinks, out of this world tasty food and excellent, bubbly service. The tomato, white anchovy and basil is endlessly moreish and the veal schnitzel and coleslaw rocks the boat of expectations and your taste buds - You could start here early in the day and lose yourself in great food and good drinks, why not do just that - its worth the coin.

The meats were of the cheapest quality imaginable; tough, bland, and downright revolting. Don't even get me started with the steak. It was cold, slimy, and completely inedible. I genuinely couldn't stomach it and couldn't even finish. Even when I waited for a new batch the second time it was still the same. The only remotely edible part of the meal was the dessert which still couldn't salvage my appetite. Another disgusting thing was the self service ice cream station, which I did not touch. Yeah I'm not exaggerating, anyone could scoop out the ice cream, no staff were serving and no gloves were used, which was downright unhygienic. The sanitising bucket wasn't changed the entire hour I was there and the scooper was left sitting in a mix of old gunk. It was obvious that cleanliness wasn't a priority and it was unsettling to see such poor attention to basic food safety. What made it even worse was the response when I complained. I was met with pure hostility. Nelson, the manager, was beyond unprofessional talking over me, defensively rambling, and insisting that all the staff claimed we had finished all of our plates. This was an outright lie. We didn't finish anything because most of it was terrible, but he refused to listen and instead tried to shift the blame. No direct apology, no offer to make things right, just excuses. Very dismissive and trying to get us out. Claimed that they have the best quality in food and service This place is a complete joke. Save your time, money. I'd rather eat dog food than go back here. Avoid at all costs.

Went to Portabella for their Valentines evening and had a pretty disgusting experience. While the…read moremeal started off well with a delicious entree that my companion and I both enjoyed, it steadily went downhill from there. My companion and I ordered the steak option which was Wagyu with a peppercorn sauce and requested his be cooked "medium". When it came out, half of it was quite rare to the point of being quite bloody. He mentioned this to our waitress who apologised but no offer was made to recook or replace despite her viewing the uneaten steak on his plate. The peppercorn sauce was also missing and we had varying portions of vegetables. I was given 6 potatoes + broccolini and beans while he received 4 potatoes with 3 beans (so minimal the amount was obvious). While annoying, we brushed that aside given the restaurant was extremely busy at the time. Come dessert and I was halfway through mine when I noticed something long and stringy hanging off my spoon. Initially I thought it was hair but it turned out to be a long strand of what I can only assume was cling wrap. We immediately informed our waitress and were offered another amid apologies to which I refused given I was feeling quite put off at this point. We ended up leaving immediately at this point and aside from an apology at the register, nothing else was offered. Will not be back and based on our experience, do not recommend at all.

I love it because the menu has a lot of choices and its not concerned with being strictly one school of food or anything. I love the Rib Fillet Sandwich but next time I might go the Linguini!! If you're in the area its definitely a place to check out!!
