Not sure if Auntie was having a bad day or not but after going here for close to a decade this last time was my last visit. I've always tried to find small places to get my haircut with a decent price so I can " tip big " and usually end up having to fix the job they did when I get home with my own shaver or a few clips with scissors cause there has never been a good consistent haircut here but I go to " tip big " cause it usually brightens someone's day but this last time Auntie kind of snapped and made about 10 quick scissor cuts and barely boxed the back of my head ( yep, had to do it myself) after spending $30.00 on cut and tip. I stay loyal where im respected and that respect has been lost so now I " TIP BIG " somewhere else. read more

Didn't get the name of the male barber but he did my Low fade haircut. The lady is also good and gets her normal male customers in and out of the shop while I was there. This barbershop is a flash back to when I was younger. I enjoyed the fact that my barber used the buzzer to do my sides and actually cut the top of my head with scissors. Now days are just straight buzzing fade haircuts. Good vibes from the barbers and they are hard working people. Parking maybe an issue but once you find a spot you will not be disappointed with the service. I live in Kapolei and I was looking for barber in the Kapahulu area and found this gem. If you just want an inexpensive standard men's cut with side of good conversation , this is the place to get it on Oahu. The lady asks you want you want but doesn't really much heed to it once her scissors start working. Doesn't matter if you've asked her not to touch the top and front, they're going to get mowed down sometime in a most unconventional way. Take solace in fact that they will grow back . Had really high expectations from seeing the high ratings which were almost met. Everything mentioned about the speed, efficiency, friendliness, and overall vibe of the shop and the stylist were spot on. Aunty listened to my son but she also checked in with me, although she reminded me that he's now a big boy and has his own ideas. (Which was nice and I'm sure the kid appreciated that.) I had sent her a photo of what the kid said he wanted (tapered fringe) when I scheduled the appt via text. (The appt was made on the same day; I peeked at her appt book and she had squeezed us in an otherwise full day! Today's a holiday.) Anyway I dropped him off while I drove around the block to find parking. When I came in they had just completed their "consultation" (I guess he showed her a different image) and she was about to start. In the end I think she aimed for somewhere in between to please both of us. The rates didn't seem to have changed. Kids and seniors $12, regular men's cut $14. But I didn't ask which rate applies and had the kid give her a $20. Aunty invited us to come back and she'll know exactly what to do next time. Honestly, maybe 3.75 stars for overall value. Their prices are REALLY AFFORDABLE for what the trade is charging these days, so be sure to tip well (as of Aug 2024, a standard men's cut - including skin fade - was $16). Not only are the prices good, but they do it fast and efficiently. I came here while temporarily staying in the Waikiki hotels and even though I've moved from the area, I still make it a point to go to that side of town for a cut. Cash preferred, but they take credit card with added transaction fee. You can also call to make appointments, which is sometimes recommended as they're a hot commodity. Parking is all on the street, you may have to drive up the side streets to find a spot. If taking rideshare over, check out the area for good eats and stores before or after your cut! read more

We were in HI for a ceremony and my son needed a haircut bad, so we saw this 5 star shop and called in. She told us to come in 40 minutes. Score! We came in 5 minutes late and she was just finishing up with someone, so the timing was just right. Anyway, it's a very small shop and I could tell a lot of regular customers come here. The lady was really sweet and sparked up a conversation. It was too bad the haircut wasn't the best. There were a couple bald spots and we pointed it out, so she said she'd take care of it. Unfortunately, they were still there. I still have this place 3 stars for friendly service and efficiency, but quality was only a 2 star. I've been going to Lisa for the past 7 to 8 years. I have a unique haircut that she has mastered. Not sure on the price but its cheap, I think 15 for a mens cut, I just give 30 every time. Her husband cut hair too, but ever since Lisa cut my hair, I only request her. You Can make appointment but with my busy schedule I just walk in and get lucky. Sometime have to wait 15 minutes but Lisa is fast and good! I used to pay 60 to 120 for haircuts and they didn't know what they were doing. Lisa is the best and more affordable. Worst experience ever. I just moved into this part of town and thought I try it out and they had all these awards hanged up I assumed they was gonna be good. Wrong, lady was purposely trying not to cut my hair but have me sit there as she ran her clippers thru my whole head and bald me. when I ask for a low skin fade. i got upset kept my cool and just asked if she could clean me up I'll pay for that and leave but she forced my head up and tried to trim my bear to secure beard trim pay as well as a fkd up haircut. I simply a asked her to stop and finish my haircut but she interrupted me and said later?! First for me to ever go to a barber and they leave me side bald and starts on another cut such as my beard. got up upset and told her what's my bill she said 5$ I handed her a 20$ told her keep the change n walked out. dont know what i did to upset this business but they sure took time out there day to ruin another. but I hope that 20$ helped yall read more

What's great about this place is the fast service. The one barber lady in there was cutting hair fast and efficiently and I believe that comes with her experience which showed. I asked her for a military style haircut and she proceeded promptly. She understood when I asked for short, not to cut it TOO SHORT. And asked the whole time if the length was alright. Other than great service, the haircuts are only $12, it's a deal! The only other time it's that cheap is on base. I love the location, in town and close to home. I will be back for this lady. She was all I could ask for when getting a fast, affordable, very decent haircut. 4 stars! read more

When asked why she only charges $14 when she could be charging double, her answer was simple: "It makes me happy to be able to offer a good haircut to those who might not otherwise be able to afford one."
