This barber store is great for a few reasons: 1) Jenny! She has been my barber for the last 4ish years and she does high quality & very consistent haircuts. She also works so so hard, just check the work hours on this barbershop. I love that everytime I call to schedule a haircut she is able accommodate for when I hope to get my haircut. Very bad experience. -Unfortuntly they don't have commitment to their price table sign. At the end you will surprise with another price which they push you to pay in Cash. -unfortunatly after 4 times going there, I find out they won't cut hair enough to force you come back early. In overall if you interested to go there consider below things: 1- when you got there at the very first tell them what you want and finalize the very final price that you should pay. I know sounds ridiculous but at least its better to surprise you at the end. - Be sure to brought cash by your self - Be sure to provide a picture of the model that you consider to have. They have a little bit language barrier and they may not understand exactly what you want. But if you know Chinese you can easily communicate and ask for it. read more

I got serviced by this old man and the haircut was decent, but when it came time to pay he wanted me to give him my card without showing how much it would be charged for and kept demanding aggressively that I hand him over MY credit card to pay without showing me the amount I would be charged. He had the audacity to tell me to leave without paying 3 times just so he could call the cops on me, mind you I had NO PROBLEM paying just wanted to make sure I see the amount before I hand him over MY credit card! I ended up calling the cops and the cops had to intervene just to have them let me pay my $23 tab?!? So ridiculous to the point that I really think this was racial discrimination, and I never say that EVER. This man was so unprofessional and rude and was demanding to have my card without showing me the price! Will not be going back to this place and future customers be aware! read more

Been coming to see Kim for about a year now and she is fantastic. I had previously gone to Mojo and Premiere but had a tough time getting bookings. I decided I would try something else out and stumbled on Banyan Barber. I lucked out because Kim always does a great job and Banyan's prices are about half the price. Well i just did research about haircut around here I found this one this a reasonable price and the man who did my haircut took over 40 minutes!! While his coworkers finished more than 2 customers. I have some errands to do after i get my haircut so i told him it's okay it's looking good and he acted like he upset by brush cleaning my head a little bit hard and speak something in Vietnamese finally i have to make a payment and he printed the receipt and I asked him for the pen so i can write him tips his coworker told him to bring me pen but he waved his hand like go away !! ‍ I didn't came here for this so sorry The others staff are great and welcoming but I won't be there again!!! read more

Disregard the negative comments before this year. Jenny, my go-to barber, recently transferred here and took ownership, and below you will see why this place will be making the headlines soon! Hopefully my review of Jenny reflects on the other barbers here as well. She has recently renovated the location and continues to provide the quality haircuts as before. She really is a master of the trade and has great attention to detail. I don't know what she does since my glasses are off during the cut, but she uses a variety of tools to give the perfect cut. If you are a loyal customer, she will most likely memorize your "usual" cut. The 30-40 minutes I'm in the chair is really my weekly highlight since the trim honestly feels like a head massage--it is super comfortable and sometimes I end up falling asleep in the chair. Embarrassing, but that didn't ever use to happen at other places. She is also very big on safety, which is important due to COVID-19. She ends my haircuts with a nice hair wash and head massage. She also offers to gel my hair, too! This is all for an incredibly reasonable price, so please tip well! You can just do a walk-in, but I recommend calling the location and setting up an appointment since it can be busy at random times. There are a few metered parking spots in front of the store, however for a more safe bet you can park at Don Quijote and walk over (~3 mins walk). read more

The last time I went in I sat down and the lady says oh I know how you like it, I said cool let do it, well instead of cutting and trimming my hair she tells me she will be leaving for a month and that she would trim my hair shorter so I don't have to come back until she comes back... well she literally shaved my head!!!! One of the best haircuts I've ever gotten in my life and that is saying something since I'm from Seattle where there are a lot of good barbers, especially the fade. I'm not sure what their names are but, I got my haircut by the lady near closing and she still took her time with me. Her husband and her were very friendly during the whole experience, they even recommended me to try a nearby pho restaurant which I did by the way! Took a stroll around my neighborhood and came here because i saw the sign advertising only $12 for men's haircuts. In this case, guess you get what you pay for... As soon as I entered, my barber greeted me with a thick Vietnamese accent. I can barely understand her. OK, well, no need to understand her since she will just cut my hair, right? I tell her to 'trim' off about 3 weeks worth. OK, she carries on like business as usual... Now, I have learned a pattern with these Viet expatriates: they only know how to cut hair one style... buzz it short! Hair cut too short, not symmetrical, blending bad near the top... I could go on. Bottom line is I didn't like my haircut. Would I return? Possibly! What?!? Return after I don't like the hair and rated it with two stars?! Yes, I'm not picky when it comes to my hair. I called Banyan and asked if they specialized in medium to long hair styles and the worker said yes, so I scheduled an appointment with them. Before I got the haircut, I showed the lady hair stylist a reference picture with different angles of the haircut (parted haircut). She said okay, but she used a pair of scisscors and instantly cut my bangs to a bowl cut which made me upset. She then proceeded to finish my haircut in 15 minutes with having crooked bangs a and crooked right side, it was such an awkward 15 minutes with the worker only asking me where I lived. The stylist only proceeded to tell me AFTER she finished cutting my hair that my hair was too coarse for that style. I walked out feeling so much regret that I gave this place a try. read more

The banyan Barber Shop is on Kaheka Street, mid-block across from Don Quijote, the world's most schizo store. This place has been around for maybe 40 years but the sweet and ancient lady who used to own the placed finally retired and Lee took over. Lee does a great job at a very affordable price; in fact, I feel guilty getting so much scissor treatment for 12 bucks that I over tip as compensation. This is not a fancy place, anything but fancy, but you get a good haircut. No ex-barista "stylists" firing mousse cannons at my balding scalp. No hipster sound tracks, no piercings, no drama.
