I love carribean restaurants and takeaways because of the fun and the passion which goes into the food and you definitely get that sense when you enter this establishment. As soon as you enter you sense the community feel, the place is always full of people chatting, eating and enjoying themselves and it is a real feelgood place. As well as the atmosphere this place has the food, it is excellent and they really know what they are doing. I have to admit I am not an expert on this type of food but it does not take an expert to taste the quality of flava at d'flava. The place is run by a Jamaican and you can tell by the authenticity of the food.It sounds obvious but try the jerk chicken with some rice and a nice refreshing drink and you will feel as though your soaking up the sun in the west indies which is exactly what you want to feel with this type of food. I have been looking forward to stopping by this place for some time as West Indian food is not as readily available around here unlike London or Birmingham. I was therefore upset at my experience despite the promising set up of the place and the tantalising offers. I get the impression that D'Flava is more of an evening place - at least I hope so as it was empty when I arrived - as the decks near the bar and liquor behind the bar hint at a lively evening set up. However when I made my order, the young girl behind the counter clearly spoke no English and instantly set my alarm bells about my order but it gave me time to look over the menu and the specials board - I really want to know to what sexy juice is but I thought now was not the time and place to try this or the Guiness punch! I'd waited a long time to come here; I was starving and had hiked all the way back from town by passing take-out after take-out to try D'Flava. I shouldn't have bothered. As I got in there, it was empty but for two grumbling women who had been sat waiting for their food for over 40 minutes when they had been told 10. I stood at the till, expectant, excited for some curried goat or jerk chicken (decisions, decisions!), and continued to stand there, unserved for at least 10 minutes (but what could have been a millenia). I had been spotted and ignored. And the place was practically empty! Terrible service. When (if) you receive it, the jerk chicken wrap and the ackee and salt fish might be delicious, but for me, not worth the hassle. Raggas all the way. Found this restaurant on the internet whilst looking for somewhere to go for a special meal was impressed by the web site . Pity the place didnt live up tp itwas a hovel with about 4 tables a tv with childrens programs blaring out & kids asleep in the dining area . as for the food .when i placed my order they had no starters ,no side dishes & what was supposed to be jerk chicken rice & peas turned out to be chicken brushed with reggae reggae sauce not what i knew i should have been getting no drinks available avoid this place like the plague read more

Placed my order over the phone, arrived to pick it up some 20 mins later to hear the microwave pinging , when I opened the order at home the dumpling was as hard as a rock , obviously had been over heated, fried chicken was soggy steamed veg was bland , overall tasteless meal , will not be wasting my money there again. read more
