Parking along both sides of Sheridan Blvd. wasn't to bad with people coming and going often. Kudos to those (groups/companies) responsible for building this section up. Years ago there wasn't much desireable here...but they've really built it up into a place where not only locals can enjoy, but others can come to visit...doesn't happen to much is the less desireable neighborhoods, or boroughs for that matter. The waterside view isn't the best, as the water is stagnant and pretty dirty as the dredge is about 1000 feet ahead in the next park over: Concrete Plant Park. Needless to say, it's got a lot of greenery, and is overall peaceful. As this is a new park to the area, it's is a great area park for the neighborhood. It appears they will be expanding it to connect to other area parks in the future, like Concrete Plant park and another park to the North. I'm looking forward to seeing the Bronx River House, which will be a NYC Parks facility that will serve as a community education center and boat house for the park.

They don't have a bonafide baseball park, however. And I've noticed that with soccer becoming very popular, this park has become awfully polluted with trash, not to mention flooded ground after it rains. I would really like to see the parks department start enforcing a "carry in- carry out" rule. Because of this reason, I have to take a star off.

There are plenty of activities available, here, including several racket ball courts, several basketball courts, a baseball/softball field, a swimming pool (not sure if active), a nice gazebo, and plenty of BBQ spots. It feels totally safe (during daylight), and looks like it's well utilized by its community. I don't live nearby, but would definitely go more often if I had easier access.

Free parking. John D. Rockefeller, Jr. began acquiring private parcels in 1917 as part of his vision of developing a beautiful park with majestic views of the Hudson River and Palisades for the public. Rockefeller gifted the land to the City of New York in 1931, and construction began soon after. The park is about 70 acres in area. Decades after its creation, park goers can run or walk on the park's 8 miles of pathways, play on the lawns, and enjoy the city's largest garden with unrestricted public access, the Heather Garden. We saw tons of nice flower beds and blooming plants. Fort Tryon Park is home to the Cloisters (separate Yelp review), a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art that houses nearly 5,000 medieval works in a building comprised of several structures from Europe. Fort Tryon Park is home to Manhattan's largest dog run, complete with a gazebo for dog owners to sit and socialize, as well as two playgrounds, volleyball courts, and built-in ping pong tables. The pristine views of the Hudson River make the park the perfect setting for exploring, meandering strolls, and picnics. The George Washington bridge can be seen from one of the vintage points. If you are in the area, check it out...it's located on the northern part of Manhattan close to the border with the Bronx on the NW corner of the island.

Parking and tolls were my only cost for the trip, so that's always a bonus. Did the tram tour and that was very nice, but maybe I was just off-season a little. Really only saw 2-3 areas that had flowers. It's a big park and great for a walk, but would have like to have seen more flora - it is a garden, but felt more like we were in the forest - more trees than flowers. All in all still a very nice visit.

Tremont Park is a medium-size green space in the middle of Tremont neighborhood in north-western…read moreBronx. It borders to the north with E Tremont Avenue, to the east with Arthur Avenue, to the south with E 175th Street, and to the west with Third Avenue. On the north-west corner there's an ornate staircase that climbs to some grassy fields. In 1995 the park was renovated, and several additions were made: chess/checkers tables, a baseball/softball field, spray showers, racquetball courts, and some new trees. The place is peaceful... I was here last weekend and there was barely anybody around. You would think that those amenities would attract locals, but it's just not happening. You can tell that, despite its huge potential, this park has been neglected by the city. The staircase is heavily damaged, the grass is a couple of feet high in some places, and there's a feeling of partial abandonment strolling it's paths. It's a pity, because it could look awesome. The close vicinity of this park with commercial and touristic Arthur Avenue could play a vital role in resuscitating its usage. However, the Italian Arthur Avenue is several blocks north, and a few minutes walk from here.

But unlike Central Park, once you are inside, you don't see the outside busy streets like cars or roads or houses etc. Like I said the park is huge and once you are inside it kind of separates you from the city. Yes so you will see greenery after greenery and trees after trees.
