Both were bland, barely had any meat, and felt like no effort was put into making them. When I took a bite, it was honestly so bad it made me gag. Up to a few years ago, D'Angelo used to be everywhere in the state. They are now down to only a handful of locations (though still all over the place in Massachusetts). Having worked near this location for a number of years over my career it was a fairly regular stop for me and they've always had the same consistent quality and service. While I'm usually going there for their specialty, grilled sandwiches (notably steak and cheese) I've had many great meals here, whether it's a quick to-go lunch to taking the time to eat in the restaurant. They do just as good of a job on the less usual items like the toasted BLT and chicken salad their 'regulars' like the #9. Going to this location you know what to expect, the sandwiches are prepared fresh to order, the location is kept clean and the service is good. As you can see in the pictures this is what a large steak and cheese is supposed to look like. For as many times as I've been here I can't remember them messing up my order. Because it's a chain my 4-star rule applies but these guys go above and beyond. They're not quite 5 stars but they're above 4, 4 1/2 stars! read more

I went to D'Angelos about a week ago on a tuesday around 12:30-1ish. Right as i've got there i was instantly greeted by the person working register his name was Elvir and since it was my first time there i didn't know what to really get but he helped me choose out what i wanted. Spend about $20 for a large Thanksgiving Toasted delivered. Not worth it. The sandwich was falling apart and seemed smaller than back in the day, and was also cheaper back then. After a long day, my husband treated me to a Vermont cheddar chicken sub from here, and it was absolutely amazing. I hadn't ever been to this D'angelo's and have actually been avoiding them since I had had a few bad experiences at the one over in East Hartford, so I was pleasantly surprised that this one in Rocky Hill has good quality food and quality customer service. We were in and out in under 10 minutes, and I'm glad this is right around the corner from our house. Understaffed and underwhelming. This shop is pretty busy, and there were only 2 people working. While "help" arrived making the staff 3 members, a number of visitors still didn't get their food. The staff seemed to be joking around in the back instead of checking on people who were sitting and waiting for food. They did end up coming out and apologized for the wait, but for someone who had recently entered. We ended up waiting over an hour for our subs and they were barely warm and inedible. I was in the area, and I decided I wanted some comfort food--a Number 9 (steak, cheese and veggies). I ordered extra meat (somewhat odd because I don't eat a lot meat in the first place) because I remember the last time I got it that it was more bread than meat. I have to say, the grinder was great! It was what I remembered (although I used to get it as it was originally served - in a pita). My only complaint (and the reason for four stars instead of five) was the price. With a water, it came to nearly $15! Next time, I'll get the small and skip the water (or think twice about whether or not I want to spend my money that way). This place tried my last nerve. I am sitting here waiting on my 4 sandwiches that I called in 30 minutes ago. I walked in then they decided to put it on the grill. 7 minutes after I walked in a guy walks in and orders and gets his food before me and leaves and I still have 0 sandwiches in my possession. Not great. This has been my experience with this place after multiple purchases over a period of a few years. They take no pride in what they do. Cash register person lacks people skills or doesn't care to apply them and obviously does not care much about the customer. Sandwiches are not made with care. Order the jalapeño topping? Be prepared to get a few jalapeño rings on a foot long sandwich. This all adds up to leaving the customer dissatisfied with the whole experience from start to finish. No love here. I used to go here all the time when I was growing up. I remember it always taking forever for them to make the sandwiches. So when I planned to go recently, I called ahead first to place our order over the phone. By the time I got there to pick it up, it was ready. Service was friendly and accurate (we had 4 sandwiches ordered over the phone and they were all correct). The quality is much better than that of Subway, in my opinion. I would definitely recommend this place but I'd also recommend calling ahead if you don't want to risk waiting around a bit. read more

Tried the surf and turf special and was very impressed. It was a Korean steak n cheese and a lobster salad sandwich. That Korean steak n cheese is absolutely amazing. It's much like beef bulgogi with kimchi; although it has this sweet and savory sauce which is awesome and its topped with cilantro. Hands down great taste. The lobster on the other hand, not a big fan. There were big chunks of chewy lobster that tasted more 'fishy' than it should have. It's also not as good when it's not on that buttered new england hot dog roll. Overall, another good experience. read more
