Short story: I just got the exterior of my house painted this week by Cosmos Painting. They did…read morebetter than I expected, which was already a pretty high standard. I highly recommend them. Long story: I asked around a lot for exterior painters, and these guys were only one of two that used California Trouble Shooter Primer. This stuff is expensive (double any exterior primer at Home Depot) and stinks up the house for a couple days, but it's by far the best. I came across this primer when I first painted my house about 8 years ago--I went to City Paint & Supply in Inman Square, and they told me to use this stuff. I painted my house myself, and coincidentally two of my neighbors had their houses professionally painted as well. Within 5 years, both my neighbors' houses were peeling, and by now, their paint jobs were a complete wreck while mine was just peeling in a couple places where I had painted over rotted wood. Point being, you get what you pay for. These painters were meticulous from start to finish. They scraped every square inch of the house and decks, powerwashed everything, and then they primed every single surface with the Troubleshooter primer, tinted the same color as the deep brown-gray that my wife picked out using the free color consulting service Cosmos provides. It looked so good I thought it was the exterior paint. Then they did a light sanding over the whole house to remove any small burrs the primer would have lifted up, and then did two coats of paint. They also painted three small porches and railings, and about 150' of fencing. All for a really reasonable price. And did I mention the color consultant? She was awesome--she listened to my wife's color preferences, then picked out an awesome palette of colors for the fence, deck, posts, siding, and trimwork that all meshed together really well. I've already gotten about half a dozen compliments on how wonderful the house looks! Lastly, John, the president of Cosmos, contacted me before the last day of touch-up paint to make sure I let him know about any details his guys missed. All I could find were two fence-post tops, which they quickly painted. One piece of advice--these guys are very good, so book them early in the year. And keep in mind that weather plays a huge factor in how much work they can get done. This year it rained so much I only had to water my garden 2-3 times, where usually I water about every other day. It was definitely a rough summer for painters, but it was expected that my paint job would get delayed a couple months given how much rain there was. I know several painters personally, so I wasn't perturbed by the delay since I'd kept hearing about how few exterior jobs painters were able to get in this year.

I just finished my interior painting with Cosmos. John and his crew were professional and…read moreflexible. They had to redo my interior and fix many errors from the previous contractor. John is hands on and an absolute pleasure to work with. The crew is meticulous and treat your home as if it was theirs. I have asked John and his team back to complete my basement. I highly recommend Cosmos and am happy to be a reference!
