I hired these guys to trim two trees, grind a stump, remove patio slabs, grade the lot and clean…read moreup. They ended up taking the trees completely down at the neighbors request. Which is fine but they still wanted to charge me full price for trimming some branches before taking the trees completely down. And the homeowner heard the house get hit twice. They denied it. After their truck was gone there was noticeable damage to the new roof and siding. When sent pictures of the damages they still denied it and then did not show up to finish the job. They did grind the stump and cut through several internet cables even though they knew they were there. Their attitude was that it happens all the time. Well, these cables were visible above ground. They just plowed right through them. So they left a big hole in the ground, never cleaned up or removed the slabs or graded the lot. Their trucks left oil and gas all along the road and I had to put down stuff to soak it up. Now they want payment for the trees and take no responsibility for the mess. Good luck to whoever else uses these guys.

Additionally, I had shrubs removed which ran the entire length of the front of my house and needed them to be put in a wood chipper. Mike came out and gave me a quote for the entire job. In fact, he took care of the shrubbery that night. Because they are so busy, I was given a start date of November 20 for the tree trimming. Yesterday, I got a call asking if it was OK to start the job that day. Of course, I said yes. Jeremy, the job foreman, and his crew arrived at around 9 AM and didn't leave until after 6 PM, They came back today and finished the job. Not only did they do a fabulous job on my trees, Jeremy blew all of the leaves out of my backyard. That was definitely an added bonus. I cannot recommend J&M Tree Service enough. They left my yard looking much better than it was when they arrived.

My parents had a 70ft+ tall tree in their backyard, and the trunk was pressing into their garage…read morecausing the garage to lift and shift. I requested quotes via Yelp to remove the entire tree, INCLUDING stump and received four quotes. GTG was the second to most expensive quote, but as a real estate developer, for the risk associated with taking down such a large tree, I would not hire a company that didn't have basic credentials including license, bond, and/or insurance, and was not registered with the state of MI, and in good standing. GTG provided proof of their business insurance, is registered in good standing with MI, and has a A+ BBB rating, although not registered with the BBB. This was a complicated job: tall and wide tree stretched between my parents' yard and their neighbors, touching and shifting my parents' garage, and the 6ft chain link fence separating the yards had been consumed by the tree. Mike, the owner came out to the house for an in-person estimate, and I clearly communicated our main concern being the growing trunk. He put in writing at least three times (texts and quote) that he could remove the stump. When the day came to remove the tree, his team did that work quickly, but once they got to the stump, he said they could not do it due to risk of the chain link fence ruining their saws and stump grinder. We agreed to pay less than his quote for the work ($800), but he also said he would find someone else to do the work. Two days later he emailed a quote ($1400) that was more than what he quoted for the stump removal and said they had to come the same day (a Saturday, and I was out and about) and by another company that he did not tell me the specifics for, so I couldn't research them. Ultimately, GTG could not do the work, but Mike kept trying to tell me how difficult/complicated of a job it was... my response was, "but you knew that when you came out to see the tree before you bid the job!" Mike kept making excuses but would not accept responsibility for sending a bad quote. I think he purposefully misled us to get the work, knowing that he couldn't remove the stump. So, now I have go through finding, meeting, and vetting contractors yet again, to get the stump removed. I'm getting quotes, and one is $3000, so either Mike doesn't know to to bid work, or is dishonest. Mike is very charming, and he uses that to mislead customers. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!
