The small family-owned restaurant in a lazy strip mall in Moreno Valley provided some of the most amazing Mexican food in Southern California. We visited midday on Sunday and the place was only about a third full, with plenty of indoor seating in booths and tables. You order at the counter and the friendly young woman guides you through the menu prominently featured on the wall. So many different options. For our group, we went with the King Burrito, the Carne Asada Torta and the Beef Taco and Enchilada Plate. Within 10 minutes, the nice young woman who took our order, came by with our drinks and shortly thereafter, our orders. The King Burrito I order was HUGE. Covered with an amazingly delicious salsa verde (mole or dry options also available), this 10-plus inch burrito was packed with Shrimp, Carne Asada, Home Potatoes, Mexican Guacamole, Chipotle Sauce & Cheese. Also came with a side of Sour Cream. Seriously, one of the best tasting burritos I have experienced, there is so much flavor with the surf and turf combination, that will make your tastebuds delight, and feel a little bit of heat in the process. My girlfriend's Carne Asada Torta was also delicious. She let me have a few bites and the meat was seasoned and cooked to perfection, just like it was in my King Burrito. The sandwich was also quite large had plenty of stacked ingredients to offer. Overall, the quality and portions of the food here at Los Reyes are amazing. You get tons of value and huge portions to boot. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant (and restrooms) and clean and welcoming. Plenty of parking in front, with lots of space inside. There is also a large TV featuring sports (football on Sundays, soccer other days) for your enjoyment. Come check out this family-owned restaurant in Moreno Valley.

Dining at Mariscos Mazatlan is an exercise in managing expectations. On one hand, the kitchen…read moredemonstrates a robust command of Sinaloan flavors, delivering punches of heat and acid that feel genuinely coastal. On the other, the front-of-house operations--and occasional textural missteps--remind you that potential is not always performance. The atmosphere leans into the festive spirit typical of a family-style marisquería, but the true test, as always, lies in the molcajete. I opted for the Molcajete Azteca, a bubbling cauldron of surf-and-turf ambition. In terms of protein, the kitchen largely succeeds. The steak was a highlight--expertly seared, yielding a tenderness that often eludes similar establishments where "chewy" is the norm. The chicken followed suit, absorbing the savory depths of the broth without losing its own identity. However, the chorizo introduced a disappointing inconsistency. While this particular serving was crisp and savory--providing that necessary textural crunch against the melting cheese--I have noted in the past that this element can arrive unpleasantly soft and under-rendered. A dish of this complexity relies on every component firing on all cylinders; a limp chorizo can dampen the entire experience. That said, the Molcajete Azteca is rescued, perhaps even elevated, by its sauce. The Salsa Negra is the undeniable star here--a dark, brooding concoction packed with umami and a lingering heat that ties the disparate proteins together. It is a sauce that demands to be mopped up with a tortilla, showcasing the kitchen's ability to build deep, complex flavor profiles. On the colder side of the spectrum, the Ceviche Chiltepin offered a sharp, refreshing counterpoint. The heat from the chiltepin peppers was assertive--bordering on aggressive--but appropriate for the varietal. It is not a dish for the faint of heart. The addition of mango was a stroke of brilliance; its tropical sweetness cut through the capsaicin and acidity, creating a harmonious balance that kept the palate engaged rather than overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the dining experience was marred by "ok" service that lacked the polish one hopes for. While there were no disastrous errors, the cadence of the meal was interrupted by a lack of attentiveness. We found ourselves reminding the staff of missing sides--a basic logistical failure--and our glasses sat empty far too often. In a cuisine this spice-forward, the absence of drink refills is not just an oversight; it is a discomfort. Recommended Dishes: Molcajete Azteca (ask for the chorizo crispy), Ceviche Chiltepin.

We were a little hesitant at first, but decided to give it a shot and I'm glad we did! Carlos took great care of us from the start. Super friendly, attentive, and welcoming. He let us know about their $8 Cadillac margarita special, and we couldn't pass that up. The margaritas were strong, smooth, and definitely did the job. We were served chips and salsa while we waited. The salsa was fresh and flavorful, but the chips tasted a little stale (my husband still enjoyed them though). For my meal, I ordered the mojarra frita and it was a solid 10/10. It came out hot, perfectly seasoned, and was a large portion with a beautiful presentation. The rice, beans, and salad were all fresh and delicious. I cleaned my plate. My husband had the trio fajitas. They came out sizzling hot and had great flavor overall. The chicken and shrimp were really good, but the beef tasted like it may have been previously frozen and was a bit rubbery, which brought his dish down to about a 7/10. Overall, great service, strong drinks, and good food. We'll definitely be back!

The chips and salsa were very good and fresh right out of the kitchen. The tacos were excellent -- super flavorful with that authentic Michoacán taste. The beans were nicely seasoned and served hot, and the rice was honestly some of the best I've had at a Mexican spot lately. Everything came out well-prepared and tasty. For the quality, the prices were very reasonable too. The only thing that kept me from giving a full 5 stars was the service. Our waitress wasn't very attentive, and things moved pretty slowly even though there weren't a lot of people inside during our lunch visit. The atmosphere was quiet and casual, which was fine for a relaxed midday meal. Would definitely go back for the food -- just hope the service is a little snappier next time!
