He asked if I wanted his company to remove the branches from the street and take them away. The branches had fallen from one of the two very established ash trees that had been showing signs of EAB infestation despite preventative treatment. I hired Shane and his company to take the fallen branches and both of the ash trees.. At the same time, Mr Spruce took a tree down for my neighbor and did dirt work for her. Mr. Spruce is a family business on steroids. I expected a few workers, but I think that the entire extended family was there that day. They removed and ground the roots of my ash trees while also working at my neighbors.. The entire crew was professional, efficient, and friendly. They cleaned both my and my neighbor's yards completely of any debris before they left. I have had tree work done many, many times over the years, and this was the most completely satisfying of all those experiences. The short story: -They underbid my job and per several other…read morereputable companies and arborists I personally know they could not have performed the work safely at the price quoted. -They advised me to perform services that were later determined unnecessary by several other tree contractors. -They became non-communicative and ended up missing the "safe window" of time to trim the trees based upon the outdoor temperature. -When questioned about the timing of the tree work (oaks can't be trimmed when temps are consistently above freezing) they got combative and condescending. The DNR website later confirmed they were incorrect. In general, top to bottom, their service was horrible. Full of excuses and always very willing to berate me if they were questioned, even when they were wrong. I wouldn't hire them and you shouldn't either.
