Mr. Spruce is a family business on steroids. I expected a few workers, but I think that the entire extended family was there that day. They removed and ground the roots of my ash trees while also working at my neighbors.. The entire crew was professional, efficient, and friendly. They cleaned both my and my neighbor's yards completely of any debris before they left. The short story: -They underbid my job and per several other…read morereputable companies and arborists I personally know they could not have performed the work safely at the price quoted. -They advised me to perform services that were later determined unnecessary by several other tree contractors. -They became non-communicative and ended up missing the "safe window" of time to trim the trees based upon the outdoor temperature. -When questioned about the timing of the tree work (oaks can't be trimmed when temps are consistently above freezing) they got combative and condescending. The DNR website later confirmed they were incorrect. In general, top to bottom, their service was horrible. Full of excuses and always very willing to berate me if they were questioned, even when they were wrong. I wouldn't hire them and you shouldn't either.

I let em know, they said the owner would be out first thing in the morning. After noon today, I see 2 guys on my property adjusting hoses/sprinklers, no acknowledgement or telling us they were here-no call or reach out from the business, nothing. I go out, turns out one is the owner, I asked him to cancel and remove his equipment and refund all monies paid this year. Owner didn't even say sorry or acknowledge the issue. Only positive is an hour after that, director of ops, Kenny called me and owned it and apologized, offered to bring my check out today, so at least he did the right thing. I am a first-time homeowner so I had some worries going in, and had never had any project done like this. I have a particular tree of concern with big branches that overhang my house, and it really needed some attention. John was very friendly and helpful in figuring out what I was looking to do. He discussed options and helped figure out the best, affordable solution. There are also loan options for people, like me, who maybe need that. John said that he'd worked on getting those options sorted and I appreciate that effort because it really wasn't too bad finding something that works for me. Some options have no interest if paid in a certain timeframe and that is great and doable! The cost was another worry of mine with it. On top of that, they went above and beyond in their work! They even left us firewood stacked up next to the outdoor fireplace and more. The crew also cleaned up everything afterwards and left the place honestly better than they found it, which I respect a lot. You can tell they care about their customers' experience and they are good folks. I am so relieved at how smoothly the process went as well as to have it taken care of! Had my appointment last week rescheduled due to the storm that came through. Totally get it, they can charge those people alot more than me because of the emergency situation. I said fine, reschedule me for next week. They confirmed 5/30/24 was my appt date. About 10am on 5/30/24 I still hadn't heard from anyone with Tree Hugger regarding the window of time they would be arriving. I had to text them to ask. Original time window from the original appt was 11am-2pm. So without being told different, thats what I assumed for the rescheduled appointment. Stupid me I guess, they said it would be between 1pm and 2 pm on 5/30/24. It gets past 2 pm and they call to say that they are going to now arrive at 3 pm. 3 Pm rolls on by and I get another call about how they aren't going to be able to make it to do the job I contracted them for and I need to reschedule again. Needless to say I cancelled as fast as possible. Additionally the woman that runs their so-called "Customer Service" shouldn't even be on the phone in my opinion. Was extremely rude and threatening to not send the guys out. Word of advice - stay as far away from Tree Hugger as you can and go with a company that stands by their word and has more than 2 employees from the sound of it.
