They fit me in the same day I called and were very nice on the phone. When I got there and started picking out the color, they wouldn't let me do the one I wanted because it was too light (?) Shortly after, my nail tech cut my thumb and it started bleeding. It wasn't bothering me until she dabbed a blue liquid on it (which I feel is unsanitary if she just dabs the bottle on everyone's bleeding fingers) and kept jabbing it in with her nail. That made it hurt a lot more and then when I put my hand into the uv lamp, the area she had put the blue liquid on kept burning and when I told her that it was hurting, she told me not to worry LOL the nail tech was also extremely harsh and forceful when she was shaping my nails, it felt like she had cut too deep and was filing extremely close to my nail bed at this point. The manicure was fine, the thumb that she cut is still kind of swollen but being put through that pain and paying $37 was not worth it. I would have appreciated if she didn't gaslight my pain and said sorry or just took a little break on my thumb. She also tried to cut more skin at the end of the appointment and I stopped her bc it felt like she was cutting too deep again and it would start bleeding. At least she listened I guess! read more

This is probably the worst set of nails I have ever gotten. I made an appointment for 5:30pm, but the lady doing my nails didn't show up till 6pm. She didn't file down the previous color I had on my nails and just started painting over with the new color. This resulted in my nails being super thick, and she didn't do any kind of shaping of the nails. My nails turned out unsymmetrical, they're different lengths, and super bumpy. Full disclosure, I've been going to D&J nails for about eight months. Initially, I liked them but overtime they have gotten worse and worse. This set of nails is probably the last straw for me, and I will not be returning. read more

This location tends to do a really great job with nails. There was one encounter where their credit card machine was down and another where the techs were definitely saying some not-so-nice things about my nails and the nail tip/color choice I made. They didn't realize that I also speak their language. I've had other and much nicer techs since then. read more

She seemed to be oblivious to the fact that she had injured me until I told her to stop. I am not new to pedicures so know this isn't "normal". Very very disappointed. Went in for an acrylic fill on a set I'd gotten done at another salon. Asked for a fill and dip mani. Manicurist started by going to cut down my nails without ever asking if I wanted a trim - if I hadn't said anything she would've cut off my nails. After filing she started to paint my nails with gel. I told her I had asked for a dip manicure and if she could please do that. Told me that dip is not possible on acrylics which is simply not true -- especially considering I had come into the salon with an acrylic set with dip I had gotten done 3 weeks prior at another salon. I had been here once previously and remembered the experience being decent; most likely won't go back after this time. read more

I was very frustrated when I came in with an appointment and didn't have a nail technician with me until almost an hour later. If there isn't enough staff don't schedule as many appointments! Once Kay came she apologized for my wait and was very kind. She did a fantastic job with my nails. I love them. I have always had great experiences here! The owners are so sweet and attentive. They always make sure you are taken care of. The place is clean and relaxing. I've had gel, regular polish, and full sets done. They've always been phenomenal. At one point I broke my actual nail under my acrylic nail and they were able to fix it and repair it so that I wasn't in pain. read more

I've gone to this particular place before a few times. Never had a time that specifically stood out to me good or bad until the last time I went to the salon. I went to get my eye brows waxed for a big job interview coming up in a few days. My experience. See the photos. What I'm very upset about is the fact that I was rushed out before I could even notice what really happened. She made a comment about wanting to even them out the best she could. Which in my head I was thinking okay. Yea. Good idea..... But when I got to the car after paying and actually looked more than 1 second at my brows. I saw my skin had been waxed off in some places and the brows were completely uneven and one even had a few places where she went too far. Now I have to show up to an important interview for my future with scabs on my face. And uneven eye brows. It was incredibly painful the rest of the day. I had to purchase ointment and stuff from the store. And that's on top of the fact that the nail salon made me pay for this terrible experience instead of just owning up to it when it happened and letting me leave without charge. At first, it was a great experience. When I first walked in a man, who I presume is the owner, and a woman kindly greeted me asking how I was and asking what I wanted to be done. I showed the woman my nails, and she said they were really cute they would be $60, but she recommended gel-x instead of acrylics as they would be healthier. Of course, I went with this option as it was the same price. They sat me down at a chair and had me wait for about fifteen minutes to move me to another chair and start me. This was no issue, the man doing my nails was kind and kept doing and saying things to make me laugh. Overall, the treatment was great and the design was beautiful for the price. Unfortunately, I am writing this one day after getting my nails done and the gel is already peeling off in multiple places. For what ended up being $65 nails I expected much better quality polish, I am also a bit upset as I drove an hour and a half one way to go to this salon, I leave for my trip tomorrow and am unable to go back in and get them fixed. They treat customers well, I even saw them wheel an older woman who couldn't walk terribly well in a chair to make it easier for her. I just cannot get over the fact that my nails are peeling after ONE! day. Mind you, I have not picked or pulled at them, I have just gone through my work day, and regular day. neither of which cause any distress on my nails. Unfortunately due to this, as lovely as the service was, the quality has not lived up to what I hoped for and I cannot see myself returning soon. Update two days after! (08-12-2022) I called to let them know that my nails were chipping off after a day, I spoke to him on the phone telling me that she was sorry, but because I couldn't come in I would have to do a brand new full set. Mind you as I said in a previous review I live an hour and a half away in the summertime. I'm a student up in Lafayette but during the summer I stay in my hometown. I explained to the woman I would not be able to come up today or tomorrow as again I live an hour and a half away she kept asking for days I could come up soon and I said the soonest I could be off is the 22nd now I do realize that at this point a full set would be needed, but we did not come to any conclusion other than I would need another set. She offered me a 30% discount I told her that I'm still not willing to spend another $50 on nails that would be ruined in one day. Mind you, the job I mentioned in the previous review is a substitute teaching position the only thing I had done that day was stand in front of the children and write on a whiteboard. Nothing about this could've damaged my nails nor ripped them the way they were ripped. I told her that I don't want to schedule but you still continue to ask for my name, once I gave her my name she told me we could figure out a bigger discount when I get there depending on what I needed. I don't plan on coming back however as I don't wanna pay $50 for a set that I will not be happy with. I was not expecting a full refund of any sort as I understand this is how the stylists are paid most of the time and how I can afford supplies etc. However, she seemed like she did not necessarily care that my nails were messed up as soon especially right before such a large event. She kept pushing me to come in and said we can figure out a discount later when needed when I said OK I want to continue to speak and she just hung up the phone on me. My review prior was a three-star I do this experience it's a one-star and I will not be coming back I highly recommend anybody who wants to get gel nails to go somewhere else. read more

This place used to be good, but has gone down hill. I made two appointments a week in advance and then they took others at the same time and I waited over a half hr. The girl at the front desk is rude and unprofessional. The nails were then hurried and sloppy. I have been previously and the owners were there and they did great. But not anymore. I also made my daughter an appointment on another day and showed up early only to have her wait over 40 min past the appointment time. Not to mention it was over 30minutes in the chair soaking and that's way too long to have anyone especially a kid waiting in the chair. read more

I have been searching for a quality nail salon for some time and I was pleasantly surprised by the services I received at D & J! Doug did my nails and he is always extremely accommodating and also great company during the visit. I came with problematic nails from a previous salon and only after a short conversation and description of what I wanted he fixed my nails beyond my expectations! Doug is clearly very experienced and it's always a treat to work with him. The salon is intimate and well ventilated providing a comfy atmosphere while you're pampered. Their deluxe pedicure is a relaxing and affordable option including foot and leg massage, hot stones and towels, and soothing oils. Not to mention the massage chairs which are also incredible! What can I say? These people went above and beyond to make my sister's wedding party look and feel great! We made reservations for our wedding party, so they knew to bring in extra help. When we arrived, they had set out wine and homemade eggrolls for us. Talk about awesome! They did not accept any customers while we were in there, so we had the place to ourselves so we could enjoy the big day and sip champagne together. I was completely satisfied with the service. Everyone's nails looked wonderful, and everyone got exactly what they wanted. I went with a gel manicure, and it still looks new. Usually my manicure chips by the end of the day, so I'm very happy. All in all, this place really goes above and beyond to satisfy their customers. I will definitely be coming back here when I am in town. read more

I got a full acrylic set and they looked very good but lasted less than a week. While I was in the waiting area, I witnessed the manager/owner argue with my aunt because she was not satisfied with the final result of her manicure. After my aunt had asked for a gel manicure, the nail tech forgot to remove her cuticles. When my aunt kindly asked the tech to remove her cuticles again, the tech pushed back the cuticles, instead of cutting them, resulting in the manicure looking grown out. The nail tech was kindly fixing the problem by re-doing my aunts natural gel nails but the owner noticed, then raising her voice saying "No, you only have one hour, your time is up!". She continued to blame my aunt by saying "You never had an appointment anyways", despite accepting my aunt as a walk-in herself. My aunt was so upset, she left without a finished manicure, while the owner/manager was literally 'shoo-ing' my aunt out of the building. I would give it zero stars if I could. Horrible. read more

My last gel pedicure lasted 3 weeks and was still in excellent shape, after wearing steel toes and socks at work 40+ hours/week. Went in for a trim on my nails, nail tech was very rude to me and handed me a file to fix it myself. I then asked if she would change the polish, she replied with "no I have clients" in a very harsh tone. After she trimmed my nails, she just got up and walked away, not saying a word to me . I have been probably going to this place since early 2020 this happened during July of 2022 and I have got my nails done multiple times but the last time was not it I was getting these simple nails with a a little design on them for only them to look very sloppy like I think I could have bought a Amazon kit and done better saying she wanted to charge way to much for them and was so rude and like I don't mind if you talk in ur Language but like I felt like they were always talking crap abt people not only that they always took in walk ins over people who have booked appointments. After waiting 45 minutes they came over and wrapped my nails in nail polish remover (practically trapping me here for another 30minutes). Finally, the woman came over and did my nails on a pillow in the waiting room and they looked terrible. I love going to this place! There are a few nail salons in the West Lafayette area that I have visited, and my experiences always range from great to terrible, depending on the tech. Not this place, I always have a great experience here, be it for a fill or a pedi. Also, a few weeks ago I was desperate to get a fill for a special event I had and needed to get it done Sunday morning. Unfortunately, no one in the area is open before noon on a Sunday, if they're open at all.
