Listen... When I moved to Lafayette, IN, my hopes for finding a great wax salon weren't high. I've lived in NYC and Los Angeles where competition is very fierce (we're talking the top salons booked out *months* in advance) so I wasn't expecting anyone local to come close to the big-city quality I'm used to. The first couple of wax salons in Lafayette I went to were fine, but nothing special... But then I found Sphynx Waxing Studio, and ladies, I'm telling you: Kelly is hands-down the BEST waxologist I've EVER HAD!! Kelly is attentive, caring, and knowledgeable: she gives the best tips on how to manage in between waxes to prevent ingrown hairs. She clearly cares about her customers, too -- even when I couldn't make it in for a few months, she remembered me & the family drama I told her about during our very first appointment. She makes the process as painless as possible, too. There's still some discomfort involved (she's ripping out hairs, after all) but she knows how to get it done quickly and gently. The best part, though, is Kelly's fun vibe. She's by far the friendliest and warmest wax professional I've ever met -- every time I go to her for a wax, I end up cracking up because she is HILARIOUS. Her infectious energy makes me actually a bit bummed that I don't need to get a Brazilian more often! How is that even possible?!!?!? Kelly is amazing and let me tell you that this wax was painless. I don't know if it was the ease of the conversation or just the relaxing energy she has or all of the above but she's amazing! I've been waxing for years and she gave me great advice on the questions I had. Oh and the goodie bag with the candy was the cherry on top! Kelly is so amazing and kind. She definitely takes the time to know her client's skin and how to best serve them. Her studio is beautiful, welcoming, and super clean. She doesn't double dip and is super careful with her work. After she gave me a French bikini and a lip wax and she gave me great advice on skin care techniques to prevent irritation and ingrown hairs. She is also SUPER AFFORDABLE, and as a college student, that's always a must. She is much closer to Purdue University than some of the other waxing studios here, so getting to her is not impossible without a car. I am definitely coming back to her in the future! read more

Kelly is a waxing magician! I've always had "difficult waxing experiences" due to my hair type, but Kelly really knows her stuff and the result was wonderful! In the past, I have been an "occasional" waxer, as the length of the waxing session, pain, and resulting inflammation was always pretty intense, and the thought of keeping a regular regimen was daunting. My experience with Kelly was very different - she is efficient, minimizes pain, and is very professional and personal at the same time. My day-after inflammation is so minimal - im blown away! I just got a signature organic facial from Kelly and it was amazing! Kelly took the time to understand my skin needs and explained the different treatments and products she offers and recommends for me. She's very knowledgeable and professional. Her facial room is nicely decorated and neat, which adds to the experience. I went in expecting an hour long facial but got that and more! She's an amazing masseuse as well. I had a wonderful experience. Kelly was efficient and friendly, and the finished product was spectacular! She was very thorough with my Brazilian wax, and gave me great tips about exfoliating and upkeep between sessions. I loved the atmosphere, too--soft music and dim lighting made the experience quite relaxing (she uses a light to focus on the area she's waxing). This is the best place to get a wax in Lafayette. After deciding to go for a wax before my wedding day at another establishment in town and being extremely disappointed not to mention terrified to ever get a wax again because of the pain level inflicted on me I decided to try again, I went to see kelly and the difference was night and day!
