We have family from Eastern Europe and it can be challenging to find many items at local supermarkets. They have items from many different countries: Russia, the Balkans, Greece, Armenia, Poland etc. Lately I've been so impressed with how accommodating they're being with the challenges of COVID19. I'm wary or going into large supermarkets right now until we find out more about the virus transmission. I called the store and the clerk helped me find items that would work for me, processed my payment over the phone, and brought the items out to me. At a time when most supermarket curbside pickup slots are taken, that's enormously helpful.

This sprawling supermarket has an incredible fresh produce section, an unmatched area for all kinds of fresh fish (both ones you've heard of and have never heard of before), a lot of really good meals to-go and so many fun and exciting options. It's always super clean, staff are really helpful, and it's truly a place I love to support and shop at when I'm in the area. I'll go 20 minutes out of my way to shop here. That's says something. I encourage anyone in the area or someone who is looking for a new shopping experience to please give Hung Vuong a visit! The ONLY thing about this store (which isn't a bad thing by any means) is that MOST products are labeled in the importing countries native language. Unfortunately, my experience here was very different from what I'm used to back home. We went to the butcher section to purchase meat, and the interaction my parents had with the staff was extremely disappointing. My parents were asking questions about ground pork, as it was out, and wanted to know if there was a leaner cut that could be ground for them. While I stood back to avoid blocking other customers, I saw the butchers behind the counter repeatedly motioning for my parents to go away, using a shooing hand gesture. What made this especially upsetting was that the butchers appeared to be around the same age as my parents and were also Asian. Regardless of how busy it was or whether they were having a bad day due to the holiday rush, that kind of dismissive and disrespectful behavior toward elderly customers is unacceptable. The experience felt unwelcoming and showed a clear lack of respect. The hand gestures toward senior customers came across as a microaggression and were deeply disappointing. Because of this experience, I won't be returning and will choose a different Asian market when visiting in the future.

The orders are trackable through Roadie, the delivery service they use, and the driver marked the order as delivered, but the photo showed it delivered to an apt. that definitely wasn't mine and was definitely not in my building. I tried to contact the driver through Roadie, to no avail - so I reached out to Wild Fork. While they and Roadie both were unable to locate the order or the driver, my order was refunded in full (including the tip) with no questions asked and when I opted to reorder for the next day -it arrived as is per usual, without issue.
