This company's quote was slightly less, but both quotes were high because of the need for a bucket truck. On the day of the service, they did not bring a bucket truck, nor did they take it down in pieces. Fortunately, no pipes were affected during the tree removal, but this company did not do what they said they would, nor did they use the equipment they said would be required for the higher price point. Our bank had recently been bought by another bank and our new checks had not arrived yet. We bought a check from our new bank to pay for the service. Our bank put a hold on the check and contacted us to make sure it was legit because of the high check amount. The owner also contacted us and said that we owed him a bounced check fee. My husband and the owner met at the bank. Our personal account and his business account are kept in the same bank. The bank apologized profusely and cleared up the misunderstanding immediately, but would not reimburse us the $30 bounced check fee because they had not charged any fees to him. We ended up paying him an extra $30 out of pocket for a check that did not bounce when he was sitting right beside my husband and knew full well it was a bank error.

You're EXACTLY correct! We made the mistake of hiring Mitchell Concrete when we first moved to Gulf…read moreshores in 2023. We did a 50 x 12 patio across the back of the house and a driveway extension leading to the walk-through door on the side of the house. Within six months, the concrete started cracking and now the side parking pad is so badly cracked that the concrete has actually shifted down in one section about a half an inch. Why? Because Mitchell Concrete, like you said being unlicensed, and not pulling the proper permits, brought in unapproved dirt to build up under the parking pad. Now that that dirt has settled, the concrete has cracked. Not to mention that he uses absolutely no rebar in the concrete like the other local concrete companies, and he also uses SRM concrete, which is the cheapest in the area in both materials and quality. I would stay as far away from Mitchell Concrete as you possibly can and they definitely don't even deserve a one star review in my opinion. and when you call Mr. Mitchell to ask him to remedy these problems, his lame excuse is that "well Concrete cracks". He also designed a "grate" to go over the access portal for our irrigation system, and when he brought the great to the house, it was made out of two by fours and left over steel mesh that he probably had laying around his yard. Some of his workers also appeared to be under the influence the day they were working at my house, but I have no way of proving that. Do yourself a favor and call Foxcrete or Mike Lewis instead. You'll get a much better job done.
