D and B taxis is a new company started by two of Ulverston's existing drivers. They are both good drivers, and pleasant. I have only used them twice, but they were on time and competatively priced. read more

The number 6 bus leaves here for stops to Barrow from 06.10hrs and the X35 to Kendal at 06.22hrs. The last bus from Barrow arrives at 23.22hrs and Kendal at midnight. The bus shelters leak in parts, but have bottom rests. Coaches visiting usually drop off and pick up opposite the Kiosk. The Tourist Information Center is between the Bus stops and the center of town, next to the Laurel and Hardy Statue. This may be an uninspireing review but hopefully it will give you what you need to know.

If I book him to pick me up from the railway station, and the train is late, I feel that I can rely on him to wait( maybe that's because I'm a regular. I don't know ). I rang him at half seven this morning and he managed to pick me up within 5 minutes, to go 3 miles into town and then straight back! He is also good with elderly clients and those with physical disabilities.

They is a lot of buses which go from here, including to Manchester, Southport, Bolton and The Trafford Center, but I can't help but feel most of the buses are unneeded and go too far, for example Manchester is only around half an hour on the train, but getting the bus here is 85 minutes and when Southport is also around 1/2 an hour on the train, but still the bus takes nearly 2 hours which is ridiculous, considering services available from Wigan Wallgate. I think it is misleading for people who may not know the area for buses to take so long, when the train takes only a fraction of this, and going on one of these journeys is in a way a punishment, and I'm sure it wouldn't be much cheaper (if anything) than getting the train. I feel to get the best of public transport, the station should work with Wallgate and North Western to encourage people to use the train for longer journeys, and then this station can become a local hub, with more buses going to local destinations which will help benefit Wigan and local towns, and give people a better deal. As a station this is merely average and is your typical bus station, with a newsagents etc, it isn't terrible as it is good to have in central Wigan but sadly I don't feel it deserves over 2 stars.

Until that lottery win comes in though I'll have to settle for a fleet of Vespas. Whilst they are getting their service, it's back to the board and public transport ago. Leeds is pretty well covered on the main buse routes and West Yorkshire Metro are the main suppliers. Now we all grumble about the service and standard in this country but I have to say Metro aren't half bad. What I will rave about is the free city centre buses, excellent. Metro's freecitybus links Leeds' rail and bus stations, business and shopping districts, the General Infirmary, Universities and Park Lane College. Not half bad Jack, especially as they run every few minutes from 6.30am till 7.30pm. You'll also find plenty of buses taking you to the outskirts of the city. Particularly handy if you want to venture to the football at Elland Road or the rugby and cricket at Headingley. They aren't perfect, but hell what is these days. However, after a day hitting the shops or getting home from work you really can't slam the service they provide.
