I have been going to Jessica Mears for 2 years at D Allen's and I must say I am never disappointed. The staff is very professional , no wait time, and accommodating to last minute appointments. I have very curly & dry hair but she always has me come out the shop looking and feeling amazing. I also get color with highlights but she is very professional in telling me what would fit me best with my skin tone and type of hair I have. I hated giving this place the 1 star I did, but no other options existed for poor, poor, poor customer service ! My wife had a 1:15 appt, and at 2:00 I picked her up with no haircut ! The stylist said she didn't know she was there EVEN THOUGH she was checked in ! No one offered to let her see someone else, so she left after waiting an hour ! I hate finding a new place to get my hair cut after moving. However since I'm in the army that happens quite a bit. D'allens was the second place I went to get my haircut in Columbus. I went only two weeks after it had been completely butchered the other place. Trey cut my hair and did a superb job. He listened to exactly what I wanted and made my hair look gorgeous. I made an appointment with CHERYL on the advice of family. Family members who sent me to her have short hair. My hair is very long. I explained the previous cut to her and told her how long it had been. Then I told her how I wanted my hair and showed her a picture. She pulled my hair a lot while complaining about clients who complain about pulled hair and saying "they shouldn't have long hair" if they can't stand the pulling. My scalp was sore the next day. The reason she pulls hair so much is because she does not know how to do LONG hair. She would comb it up against the growth and let it fall back down then try to comb through. When it falls onto itself it naturally tangles... DUH! But she did this the entire time. She ignored the points I was concerned about and cut my hair how she liked then heat styled it as I was telling her that I do not and will not heat style my hair. I gave CHERYL 3 stars because what I ended up with looked good but definitely not what I asked for. CHERYL is good if you do not have a schedule to keep. she yaks so much she won't be able to hear you and appointment times are bupkiss CHERYL is good if you have or want short hair CHERYL is good if you don't care what hair style you get CHERYL is good if your scalp has no nerves and is made of leather. CHERYL is NOT GOOD if you have LONG hair. read more

I recently moved to the area and was a little anxious about finding a new stylist. I had my hair done here the first time and was happy with it and the price of $50. I returned for my second trip and this time was charged $65. Hmmm. I need to go again soon so I will ask about the price. Hope they don't plan to increase it by $15 again. haha If the price had remained $50 I would give the place 4-5 stars. The stylist I saw did a decent job with my color and the place is pretty friendly. Reminds me of the place I used to go. There are a LOT of stylists here (I like that) so getting in to see someone on short notice shouldn't be an issue. Also, not sure if it is true for all stylists here but the one I see doesn't take cards, debit or credit, so bring cash or your (old school!) checkbook. And good luck!! read more

Leigh Anna's got good hands and a good feel for what she's doing. Much better than the half-hearted massages I've gotten at other "Spas". I'd give a better rating if the entire experience had been as nice. I had to wait a while and some of the staff seemed downright stuck-up. The massage room felt a bit too much like a closet or an afterthought. It wasn't very soundproof. Leigh Anna talked, a lot. That may be my fault somewhat. But it made me uncomfortable when she talked about church and god. Leave it at the door and give me a massage I say. Also, if you're a "heavy" person, don't be surprised if she points that right out to you as well. Duh. Technically there's much potential with Leigh Anna. She's got the massage skills. I hope her people skills improve too. read more

I had a cut, color, and highlight with Skylar and am absolutely in love with the results! She did a fantastic job helping me decide which direction to go, choosing the right colors, and then executing it exactly the way she explained. I have been to a lot of high end salons and have never walked away as happy as I did today. The staff is all extremely friendly and welcoming and the prices are MUCH better than the competitors. Decided to get some highlights in my hair by a professional, What a horrible disappointment. I asked for a few subtle highlights, But instead I got a lot of bleach white streaks in my hair. I called to speak to the stylist, never got a call back after 2 days so I went in to speak with her and she said she couldn't do anything to fix it unless I want to wait 2 weeks, do lowlights and pay more. I've been here a few times and I'm so disappointed. The first time, I had to change who I had a confirmed appointment with because they double booked. Then I make an appointment online which THEY confirmed and Cheryl is 15 minutes past the appointment start time (with no end in sight or urgency) and all they could do is offer to move the appointment for me. Why make it in the first place?! Horrible and unprofessional. Cheryl is a nice lady, but is slow, talks way too much (which slows her down more), and doesn't do a great job at keeping her appointments. read more

Her area was very warm and inviting. She explained the process and listened intently to my requests--keep highlights tight so no big stripes. She did a great job on my color and the cut was great. Just moved into the area a couple of days ago, and n my search for a great Hair salon I found D'Allen's on the Local news paper, Ledger Enquirer's 2012 Readers' Choice awards as one of the best Hair Styling Salons in the city, Also I find great reviews of Skyler as a great hairstylist. So, I made my appointment with her for a haircut. She executed all my expectations, she was patient and knowledgeable.Love the salon's atmosphere too, clean and modern. The color change did not match my hair. I had to call several times to attempt to reach a resolution. Ultimately, the color was supposed to be corrected. I booked Lindsey Grubbs for a bridal makeup appointment months in advance and was told I needed to secure my appointment with a deposit. I was told that the deposit would go towards my future services. On the date of my trial run, my appointment was cancelled without advance notice, via email, and Lindsey did not make any attempts to reach out to me for rescheduling or explanation. Her next available appointment was 30 days after the cancellation, and only 10 days before my wedding. I was apprehensive about doing business with Lindsey due to the fact that she had cancelled on me before without explanation and was afraid she would do the same on my wedding date. I found another makeup artist and notified Lindsey a month prior to my wedding of my cancellation of services, ensuring that she'd have plenty of time to fill the hour of available time slots. She refused to issue a refund for the deposit I made and even so much as blocked me from her business's Facebook page so I would be unable to leave a negative review. My first impression of the place was good. The people seemed nice and were very helpful. My appointment was at 4:00. I got there at 3:45 and ended up in the chair at 4:30. After waiting 30 minutes after my appointment time, my stylist was very "out there" telling me way too much information about her personal & sex life, I really don't want to hear all that. Then, I asked for a full hair color throughout all my hair, but my stylist insisted a million times that I only color the "top" part of my hair and not the bottom. She would not take no for an answer. So even after I told her what I wanted, I did what she insisted on. I also received a trim. When I went to pay, the guy at the front desk asked my stylist what she wanted to make me pay, in return she said "umm how about 115". Do these people make up their own prices or something!? In the end, I paid $115 not including tip for half hair color and a trim. Definitely will not be returning there. read more
