Food was ok! Pita was delicious!!! Meats were a bit on the dry & salty side!! Fries were ok, definitely needed ketchup!! Service was quick & friendly!! There were 2 tables out front that you can use to eat & go!!

Dner Sandwich and Dner Box with Fries & Salad
Samantha S.

I've visited twice so far with my German boyfriend, and according to him, this is the closest to the real deal that we've tried in NYC. Of course, that's not to say it's exactly authentic, but out of a collection of places we've visited, I agree this tasted the best. This Döner Haus location is not properly a restaurant but a takeout window with two rickety standing tables on the sidewalk in front of it. You can order on a touch screen or with the help of a cashier, and the food takes around 10 minutes to be ready, from my experience. On my first visit, I ordered the chicken döner sandwich. Like others have said, they really pack the bread with filling (which I like!) but the sauce can make it fall apart, so be sure to keep your fork handy. The second time we went, I ordered the beef on a platter over a mix of fries and salad, and I think I enjoyed that more than the sandwich because it was easier to eat. It was also a lot of food! I was excited to have leftovers the next day, but then my new roommate ate it, LOL. (I guess that alone proves it was good.) Looking forward to seeing more of this franchise and hopefully trying the one in Astoria soon (that one has seating!).

Chicken and beef doner wrap

The wrap is quite substantial with a generous portion of meat. I almost wish it was more balanced with the veggies. I got a side of white sauce and I think that made the wrap better overall.

Got the original sandwich with chicken. They put meat on one end and lettuce on the other side, instead of layering. So towards the end, all I tasted was lettuce. Chicken itself is flavorful. The fries is pretty good. Some special seasoning. Take out only. Staff is friendly. Service is quick.

the logo of Döner Haus place seems to be a hat tip to a famous porn site bc the logo is like a parallel of it--weird flex but whatever. but hey it whatever it takes to get people to stop consuming pornography and start consuming food. before you rush to judgement of anyone for knowing the connecting re: the logo...it's not a galaxy brained mystery if you are extremely online you know this and a metric ton of digital information that absolutely useless for anything but memes and gifs. anyway, th döner comes way of Turkish immigrant cuisine out of Germany...it's basically sliced halal seasoned chicken or halal beef coked on a vertical rotisserie, add a layers of fresh veggies, herbs, and a white sauce and sandwich that in a pocket bread or wrap...and there you have the basics of a döner. i may be missing some key details but you get the gist of it. ordered here back in March of this year and forgot to review...not that my order was unmemorable, but it wasn't memorable either...it was a solidly good sandwich for dinner on a cold night that feels fairly healthy and is quite filling. after ordering i regretted not ordering the French fries, but after getting my order I didn't regret it bc my döner was fairly hefty. it was a mixed meat (rotisserie sliced chicken and beef), layers of fresh veggies like lettuce, pickled red cabbage, red onions, sliced tomatoes, & a yogurty herbed white sauce all wrapped up in a thin flour wrap. while being a fairly big stuffed sandwich, it felt like a fairly healthy meal bc the primary calories are from the chicken and beef which are lean cuts of fairly moist meats and add on the veggies...and it's basically a flavorful protein salad in a wrap. overall, it comes together nicely and makes for a filling sandwich when you want something fairly healthy and filling but don't want an absolute calorie bomb. ordered via app for pickup. the wait for the sandwich felt long but at least you know it's bc it's made to order and not prepackaged or something, but i did think the wait was long bc there wasn't much of a line when i got there, but it built up as I waited. this place is obviously on all the major food ordering apps, but you can order in person. there's no seating bc this place is just an order window and a kitchen...no seating. service is pretty basic as soon as your order is up...they call your name...not much personality. glad I ate here bc i never had this type of Turkish food and would try it again, but like most food memories...they fade until they return...hence this review.

Take out window only. No seating. Only 2 high top tables to stand at outside. It seems like they'd get even more business if they had seating. I ordered the original Doner combo, which cost about $18.50 (including an additional sauce). I got the mixed meat. The beef was the standout. The flavors!!! They put a little too much sauce on my sandwich though. Although that didn't stop me from dipping all the fries in the extra side of sauce that I got. The sandwich was more than enough for me too! Just as good the next day (minus the soggy bread, which wasn't my fav either).

I am going to Germany next week so I wanted to try this out to compare for my future trip. I showed my friend this and she already noticed many differences between this and authentic döner from Berlin. She told me they usually use lamb not beef and that the price here is double the price in Germany. I wanted to try it anyway even if it's not as authentic as what the store seems to portray it to be. The breading could hardly contain it. My friend told me the bread is thinner than she'd get. It seems everything is just cheaper in quality but more expensive in price here. The bread was way too oily too and some parts of it were kind of hard or too chewy. The meat tasted like the lamb/beef from halal carts. They give a lot of meat but idk, at $14 after tax I was not too impressed. The sauce was okay. Tasted a bit like mayo and garlic. It was good but not something I would get again.

Delicious, large portions, fairly priced. Highly recommend. I got the doner with mixed and it was very flavorful and I was quite full from it. Def would stop by again if in area and wanted a quick bite

If you are craving döner like you once had in Berlin... well you don't have to go too far anymore since Döner Haus now will satisfy that craving! The service is just like Germany where you just walk up to the counter, order, and your food is ready shortly. I have tried their beef, chicken, and mixed döners at different times and every time it is so tasty! The spicy sauce while it's not German spicy it actually packs quite a punch if you like spicy sauces. They have been very consistent with the large portions and flavor which is great. While they aren't German prices because it's New York they are still very much worth it! If you around the East Village or Union Square, either for lunch, dinner, late night, or just because you absolutely need to try Döner Haus!

Great tasting halal lunch option in Manhattan. Order from Uber eats and not only did it arrive fast but good fresh and tasty. Ordered the chicken sandwich to take home and it was a huge hit literally that sandwich was packed to the brim. Adding to my go to lunch spot.

Burnt plastic I pulled OUT of the sandwich

We usually love Doner Haus. Great sandwiches with great flavor. Today, after picking up my order and opening it up at home to enjoy my sandwich in privacy I took a bite to find something I could not chew. It was a burnt piece of PLASTIC INSIDE my sandwich. I called doner haus and an automated machine answered instead. I tried to complain on their website but they have not replied and you cannot upload photos on to their website. I'm posting this on everywhere I can review because this is unacceptable!!! The least doner haus can do is issue a public apology and a refund. Do not eat from this place unless you want to die from a serious choking hazard! I can only imagine the deplorable kitchen conditions if this huge piece of plastic made it into the sandwich.

Filled to the brim! Delicious!

I'm quite picky with my German Döners, as I've had many in Hamburg and Berlin with family, and these were great!! First off, the storefront is fun, vibey, and intriguing. I kind of love that it's solely takeout with friendly faces to interact with. The service was a 5/5 -- so friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic! I also caught them at a time where things weren't too busy and my order was ready in under 5 minutes. Something to note for folks who may want to visit: they have a regular döner (chicken, beef, or a mix of chicken/beef) for approx $12 (if my memory serves me) but offer a combo for closer to $15 which offers a sandwich, fries, and a drink--seems like a great deal to me! For this time, though, I wasn't super hungry so I stuck with the sandwich. The bread was fresh and just the right balance of crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They truly did not skimp out on the fillings (which I so appreciated!). The chicken was super flavorful, as were the sauces, lettuce, onions, and tomato. Well-seasoned and well-cooked! Not greasy at all. The one thing I was not the biggest fan of was the spicy sauce. I usually like spice, but I didn't feel it was necessary in this sandwich--it felt a tad overpowering for me personally. Having consumed my fair share of authentic German döners, it was an element to the sandwich I was unfamiliar with and didn't love. Next time, I'll ask for more tzatziki and no spicy sauce. It's also a tad expensive (I'm used to döners in Germany being 4-6 Euros), but hey, it's NYC. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and will be back!

Döner Haus brings down the house with its German styled halal which taste better seems healthier and is less greasy! This spot is pick up only! Blast euro music into tue streets and is like a food dance party out in the streets and then in your mouth after you start munching on their food. The guy working the front was nice and took the time to explain the food. You can get their platter or sandwich. I got the sandwich combo with fries and a drink. The fries are so flavorful doesn't need any ketchup or anything the sandwich is delicious I suggest getting spicy. One this that was kinda weird to me is the yogurt like sauce they use on it, I think it's unnecessary and takes away from the flavor of the meat. In short: - Great pick up spot for delicious healthier halal - Perfect drunk food spot - No seating

So thoughtful, and such a great touch to start the evening for us. We decided to order the family style menu and we enjoyed the whole dinner. All of the dishes on the menu were really good and great price for $74pp. I wish we had a 4th in our party so we couldve had the duck, but we'll definitely be returning to do so. The dips were so good and so fresh! I think all of the dishes were perfectly seasoned. I get sad when dishes are overly seasoned or overly salty. Walking in, it's a stunning restaurant and on this night, not too crowded which made us wonder why they would seat us next to the servers station away from dozens of much nicer tables. Note that I booked through Open Table where I have Gold status which I thought meant you get a better table. Next fail, we wanted to start with a Mediterranean dip, but they only offer that if you go with a $39 tray with multiple dips. Not something a party of two would be able to east, so we skipped apps altogether. Sucks too, because several tables had it and it liked amazing, just too much for two. For dinner I had the Yemeni Au Police Kebab, Filet Mignon which was absolutely delicious. The peppercorn Hawaii really sweetened the meat's flavor. So high marks for the steak. My wife had two small dishes which she wasn't as thrilled with, Grilled Artichokes which were too dry for her liking and Manti, which she liked. Main takeaways. Very pricey, beautiful atmosphere (if you get a nice table) and maybe a place that's better for a group than a couple.

There was a short wait, but from what I could see, a variety of tables here and seating. Not the biggest place, dark, intimate, wood accents and small spotlights over tables. We ordered buns and spicy edamame to start. It seemed like we had just ordered when the food came out. Love that. Buns were incredibly good - a close second to a joint in Chicago we ate at last weekend. Succulent meat, plenty of sauce, and just the usual pillowy bun. The edamame didn't seem spicy at first - then my face melted. Still good but a deep burning spiciness to them as advertised. For my entree I got the beef miso ramen, adding corn and an egg. The corn wasn't just a pile of kernels - but a side slice of a cob. Cool presentation. Beef was good and the broth soothed my soul. Top 10 ramen places I've been - well done.

They had a variety of sake and beer options. The inside is small but turnaround is fairly quick. Lots of two seaters and a large table that we were able to snag after just a few minutes of waiting. There was also bar seating. Pretty dark inside to add to the ambiance for a quick date or catch up with friends.
