We were seated quickly upstairs with a great view of the lovely painted ceiling. My expectations rose. Ordered some sausages and schnitzel. Schnitzel was a hearty portion served with spatzle. The sausage was rather bland and came with even blander sauerkraut and unmemorable red sauce. A brass band started up just as we were leaving and it immediately changed the atmosphere to that of a beer hall at Oktoberfest. I think this would be a great place to go out for beers with friends, having eaten elsewhere.

If that's too chilly for you, and it does get freezing out there, you can watch from inside the bar where they have windows looking out onto the slopes. They have a range of tables, so whether you're just with one friend or you've got a bigger group together, they have plenty of space for you. It's just generally quite a big bar and, possibly because it's at Braehead, I don't think I've ever seen it totally packed. Perhaps that changes when they have events on, and they certainly do cater for parties. The food is what you'd expect from a German Bier Halle: Sausages. Also pretzles. The portion sizes are pretty hearty and, to be fair, they do have a few other options on the menu, but where would the fun be in that? The WiFi is free, the staff are friendly and won't smirk at you if you order a coffee (I hate that, but here they seem to take some pride in it). The theme perfectly compliments the location. Sitting there, drinking bier and eating wurst, watching the skiers go by, you could almost forget you're at Braehead.
