5 Stars - A Hidden Gem That Fuels Both Body and Soul…read more Tucked away in the peaceful coastal charm of Morro Bay lies Sunshine Health Store and Cafe -- a true hidden gem and the kind of place every town needs but few are lucky enough to have. Walking in, you immediately feel like you've stepped into a sanctuary. The store side is packed with thoughtfully curated natural Whole Foods, herbs, local wellness brands, and holistic remedies that feel like they were chosen with genuine care. No gimmicks, just the good stuff. Whether you're a health nut or just dipping your toes into mindful living, this place meets you where you are -- with open arms. And then there's the café. Oh, the café. It's not just food -- it's nourishment. The kind that makes you pause mid-bite and go, "Wait, what *is* this magic?" Everything on the menu is clearly made with love -- fresh ingredients, creative plant-based options, vibrant flavors, and the kind of energy you can feel. Smoothies, hearty bowls, wraps, and snacks that leave you feeling energized instead of weighed down. But the real treasure here? The people. You don't just get customer service; you get connection. The staff radiates warmth and passion -- like they're not just selling you health but living it and inviting you to do the same. Sunshine Health Store and Cafe is more than a business -- it's a beacon. A rare blend of nourishment, community, and consciousness. If you're in Morro Bay, don't miss this soul-fueling stop. And if you're lucky enough to be local, this place is a gift you'll never take for granted. Truly, sunshine for the mind, body, and spirit.

The staff are very sweet. People walk by with pups and treasures from local antique shops. It's great for people watching, and there was live music coming from across the street. I had the Sunshine Hummus Wrap and loved it, next time I will order it with double hummus. If you like a little kick, add their Jalapeno sauce from the condiment cart.

I wish I had asked names, so that I could shout them out! One woman, light brown/blonde hair, seemed to be in training, and she was very helpful, the young man helping her, and who also helped my fiancé choose a lobster he has blonde hair, so very helpful! We are out of towners, but will be back! **went back! Fiancé could not stay away from the fresh/live lobster! The names I want to SHOUT OUT are Justin, and Heidi! They are kind and helpful! Thank you both so much!

The chowder lacked potatoes and clams. The fried combo-and chips was good, I really liked the fried scallops... so fresh and juicy. There's really not enough seating, people are hovering tables waiting for folks to finish up. We weren't too bothered, as we guilty of hovering as well. After our long long wait and hussling for a table and completing our meal... we strolled down road... guess what. There are other restaurants 1 min walk away. I would recommend Giovanni only if the line is a decent wait. DO NOT wait one hour. Your tourist time is too valuable to waste in line.

For me, every trip to Morro Bay requires a stop at the Morro Bay House of Jerky. Been dropping in…read morefor a very long time. The last visit didn't disappoint. Same great beef jerky from familiar flavors to the more exotic meats. Over the years the staff has been great; welcoming, engaging, and helpful. To name a few jerky options they have .... beef, shark, alligator, ostrich, rabbit, turkey, duck, trout, tuna, salmon, python, elk, boar, boar, buffalo, and kangaroo. I know some of you are intrigued while others are perplexing out.I usually stick to the beef. But I have ventured and bought shark, alligator, and buffalo before. Pliable, softer but not mushy, tasty jerky. Made without MSG, preservatives, or nitrates so alot healthier. Family recipes. They sell in a variety of sizes/pricing and flavors such as black pepper, teriyaki, srirachi, and habanero. Mmm. They also sell novelty candy including chocolate bacon, hot sauces, cold case drinks, snacks, and small gifts (plushies, stickers, cards, etc). The chocolate bacon is one of my go to buys because it's less than $5 and come on... it's chocolate AND bacon, nuff said. The actual shop is in the small shopping plaza on the street side of the three stacks and maritime museum which by the way the museum has outdoor displays and small museum (all free and accept donations). The jerky shop has free parking in a lot with plenty of spaces. Can't stop in the shop in person? Check out their website for their online shop.

And the employee working is very knowledgeable and can quickly give recommendations on you might like based on your 'usual' snacks. My only real complaint (beyond being somewhat overwhelmed with the sheer amount of flavors and meat types they offer) is that when you start to get in to some of the more unique animals, the amount of jerky you are going to get is much smaller and much more expensive than the normal beef jerky. I understand why, but when I'm interested in trying a new animal jerky, I'm often not willing to spend up to $20 when I'm not even sure if I am going to like it. I really think they could benefit from some sort of 'taste of jerky' pack or something that includes basically bite sized samples of various exotic jerky. I would absolutely play $20~$30 for a variety pack knowing that while I might not like everything, I am trying a bunch of new things but in small portions. From there you will then know what to pick up the next time you are there. So, I highly recommend swinging by House of Jerky when you are in the area. If anything to just see some of the unique offerings they have. Just know that if you want to go that route, you're going to be paying a bit of a premium for your unique jerky snacking experience.

I was going to go around them, but then they all went into the store. Only one put his mask on, the other two just waltzed right in. Turned out these were the owner and his buddies, or at the very least someone who worked there. I waited a bit for the air to clear and then went into the store to start to gather my items. I should have just walked away then!! I got through one row and was starting on the second row when I saw one of them go get a soda - with no mask!! He saw me and quickly put on his mask, sort of like an afterthought. I immediately returned the items I had chosen and walked quickly out the door. I will NOT return here, they don't respect the safety of their customers or their workers!! And this during the worst time in the pandemic, where cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are increasing at an alarming rate. They should be ashamed of themselves. Throughout this pandemic I have shopped here several times a week, buying a lot of overpriced goodies. I have probably spent $30-$50 a week here since April. They will definitely notice that they have lost a good customer since I won't be shopping here again. The one star is for the cashiers who are always polite and wear their masks.
