They had Bao buns and sushi, a huge selection of cheeses and delicious looking cakes and pastries. It's a big grocery store and probably one of the main places locals go for their grocery needs. They have a nice customer service desk if you need help and the store is very organized and clean inside.

The person helping me at the deli counter was nice and that's kinda where it ended. While I was waiting for my strips and wedges order, I overheard an older man yell across the deli to a young man asking him to come to him. The older man then began scolding the young man, loudly, as I could hear him over the sounds of the deli and store traffic. He was scolding him for not telling him that he had gone on lunch? I understand maybe telling him once and to not do it again, but the older man kept on and on about it. It made me feel very uncomfortable and the girl preparing my order clearly looked uncomfortable as she kept looking back at what was going on. Very unprofessional. At check out, there were very long lines. Self serve was maybe 15 people long and normal lanes about 6 people. When it was my turn at the normal lane, the cashier looked visibly frustrated and speaking under her breath about someone coming to help. She said something like "now they help when the line died down". Also unprofessional. I'm in a beautiful city, doing what I love doing (camping), and I have this ugly and awkward experience. Employees acting this way in front of customers demonstrates what a toxic workplace environment looks like and I won't be giving them my business in the foreseeable future.

5 Stars - A Hidden Gem That Fuels Both Body and Soul…read more Tucked away in the peaceful coastal charm of Morro Bay lies Sunshine Health Store and Cafe -- a true hidden gem and the kind of place every town needs but few are lucky enough to have. Walking in, you immediately feel like you've stepped into a sanctuary. The store side is packed with thoughtfully curated natural Whole Foods, herbs, local wellness brands, and holistic remedies that feel like they were chosen with genuine care. No gimmicks, just the good stuff. Whether you're a health nut or just dipping your toes into mindful living, this place meets you where you are -- with open arms. And then there's the café. Oh, the café. It's not just food -- it's nourishment. The kind that makes you pause mid-bite and go, "Wait, what *is* this magic?" Everything on the menu is clearly made with love -- fresh ingredients, creative plant-based options, vibrant flavors, and the kind of energy you can feel. Smoothies, hearty bowls, wraps, and snacks that leave you feeling energized instead of weighed down. But the real treasure here? The people. You don't just get customer service; you get connection. The staff radiates warmth and passion -- like they're not just selling you health but living it and inviting you to do the same. Sunshine Health Store and Cafe is more than a business -- it's a beacon. A rare blend of nourishment, community, and consciousness. If you're in Morro Bay, don't miss this soul-fueling stop. And if you're lucky enough to be local, this place is a gift you'll never take for granted. Truly, sunshine for the mind, body, and spirit.

The menu is extensive but I only had one thing in mind and thus I got the CLAM CHOWDER BOWL $6.99 and HALIBUT fish and chips $24.99 plus $2 garlic fries upgrade. Sorry to say this place is as many have said, a tourist trap. The halibut batter lacked seasoning it was practically tasteless. It's freshly fried however. Fries upgrade helped the fries only. The entire basket didn't taste much like anything and the tartar didn't help. The clam chowder was very salty. And I mean, very. It barely had clams in it and didn't taste rich and mostly had big cubes of potato. It was disappointing. The lines can get very long very fast. They have a good spot with greats views or Morro Rock. Parking is free everywhere to my knowledge.

And the employee working is very knowledgeable and can quickly give recommendations on you might like based on your 'usual' snacks. My only real complaint (beyond being somewhat overwhelmed with the sheer amount of flavors and meat types they offer) is that when you start to get in to some of the more unique animals, the amount of jerky you are going to get is much smaller and much more expensive than the normal beef jerky. I understand why, but when I'm interested in trying a new animal jerky, I'm often not willing to spend up to $20 when I'm not even sure if I am going to like it. I really think they could benefit from some sort of 'taste of jerky' pack or something that includes basically bite sized samples of various exotic jerky. I would absolutely play $20~$30 for a variety pack knowing that while I might not like everything, I am trying a bunch of new things but in small portions. From there you will then know what to pick up the next time you are there. So, I highly recommend swinging by House of Jerky when you are in the area. If anything to just see some of the unique offerings they have. Just know that if you want to go that route, you're going to be paying a bit of a premium for your unique jerky snacking experience.

I was going to go around them, but then they all went into the store. Only one put his mask on, the other two just waltzed right in. Turned out these were the owner and his buddies, or at the very least someone who worked there. I waited a bit for the air to clear and then went into the store to start to gather my items. I should have just walked away then!! I got through one row and was starting on the second row when I saw one of them go get a soda - with no mask!! He saw me and quickly put on his mask, sort of like an afterthought. I immediately returned the items I had chosen and walked quickly out the door. I will NOT return here, they don't respect the safety of their customers or their workers!! And this during the worst time in the pandemic, where cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are increasing at an alarming rate. They should be ashamed of themselves. Throughout this pandemic I have shopped here several times a week, buying a lot of overpriced goodies. I have probably spent $30-$50 a week here since April. They will definitely notice that they have lost a good customer since I won't be shopping here again. The one star is for the cashiers who are always polite and wear their masks.
