Love those peppers

The avocado Shack in Morro Bay is quite a place. Everything is organic it's beautiful and if that's what you want this is the place. the avocados when they're on special or a buck a throw and you can't beat that for organic avocados/ We got some Peaches on our last trip and the peaches were so juicy and wonderful we sat and ate them in the parking lot and then went in and bought more. we are always looking for fresher better more flavorful tomatoes and this place has them. you got to go you got to check it out you got to see what you like and the people who like organic this is the place. Thank you avocado Shack Oh Yes - the staff is super friendly!

A local gem with local, sustainable, and organic produce, that's great for families and kid friendly!

Wow. Beyond impressed, local, organic, sustainable, and so friendly and community oriented! This is a true gem in Morro Bay! The produce is not only ethically and locally sourced, but far more reasonably priced than any big brand stores. A great spot to bring the kids while you look around, they had a free children's books section and corn hole patio games with picnic table! 10/10 would recommend!

Big o melon!

In Morro bay visiting for the week and needed a bell pepper. Of course I left with more than just a bell pepper! The worker was enthusiastic about showing me how to pick a ripe cantaloupe and was very friendly! Got some honey because I loved the bottle! The flavor ended up being yummy!

Bought on Saturday with rotten grapes. It is Monday!

I got the nerve up and went in with my dead produce (review below) to ask for a refund. The owner's son was there and earned an A+ for customer service and making things right. He had read the review I posted and pulled the grapes off the display the next morning. He said he was hoping I would come in. (My suggestion for the owner is next time to write that response in the "comments from the owner" section. I would have gotten an email that a response was posted.) Ways he made it write include refunding my money, replacing the produce and giving me a few peaches on the way out the door. And, most importantly, saying he was sorry and it was not OK. Empathy in this world is sorely missing, bonus points. I said I would update my review since he made it right. Great customer service seems to be a thing of the past, but not at the Avocado Shack. I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. Yes, he made it right, but the produce that day I shopped was still bad. The person that was working has been having personal issues and the owner is cutting her slack. That is fine, I get it and I support it. But, they need a second person to float the floor and keep everything looking pretty to command the prices they are charging. Good presentation is vital when dealing with a store of mostly all perishable fruits and veggies!

Beautiful produce. Bought amazing yellow squash, heirlooms tomatoes, shisito peppers and, of course, Cambria hass avocados

5 Stars - A Hidden Gem That Fuels Both Body and Soul…read more Tucked away in the peaceful coastal charm of Morro Bay lies Sunshine Health Store and Cafe -- a true hidden gem and the kind of place every town needs but few are lucky enough to have. Walking in, you immediately feel like you've stepped into a sanctuary. The store side is packed with thoughtfully curated natural Whole Foods, herbs, local wellness brands, and holistic remedies that feel like they were chosen with genuine care. No gimmicks, just the good stuff. Whether you're a health nut or just dipping your toes into mindful living, this place meets you where you are -- with open arms. And then there's the café. Oh, the café. It's not just food -- it's nourishment. The kind that makes you pause mid-bite and go, "Wait, what *is* this magic?" Everything on the menu is clearly made with love -- fresh ingredients, creative plant-based options, vibrant flavors, and the kind of energy you can feel. Smoothies, hearty bowls, wraps, and snacks that leave you feeling energized instead of weighed down. But the real treasure here? The people. You don't just get customer service; you get connection. The staff radiates warmth and passion -- like they're not just selling you health but living it and inviting you to do the same. Sunshine Health Store and Cafe is more than a business -- it's a beacon. A rare blend of nourishment, community, and consciousness. If you're in Morro Bay, don't miss this soul-fueling stop. And if you're lucky enough to be local, this place is a gift you'll never take for granted. Truly, sunshine for the mind, body, and spirit.

They had Bao buns and sushi, a huge selection of cheeses and delicious looking cakes and pastries. It's a big grocery store and probably one of the main places locals go for their grocery needs. The person helping me at the deli counter was nice and that's kinda where it ended. While I was waiting for my strips and wedges order, I overheard an older man yell across the deli to a young man asking him to come to him. The older man then began scolding the young man, loudly, as I could hear him over the sounds of the deli and store traffic. He was scolding him for not telling him that he had gone on lunch? I understand maybe telling him once and to not do it again, but the older man kept on and on about it. It made me feel very uncomfortable and the girl preparing my order clearly looked uncomfortable as she kept looking back at what was going on. Very unprofessional. At check out, there were very long lines. Self serve was maybe 15 people long and normal lanes about 6 people. When it was my turn at the normal lane, the cashier looked visibly frustrated and speaking under her breath about someone coming to help. She said something like "now they help when the line died down". Also unprofessional. I'm in a beautiful city, doing what I love doing (camping), and I have this ugly and awkward experience. Employees acting this way in front of customers demonstrates what a toxic workplace environment looks like and I won't be giving them my business in the foreseeable future.

The employee in the mobility scooter who believe is named Athena continuously harassed an unhoused man who was trying to shop. She followed him through the store and accused him of shoplifting even though he very vocally said many times that he was trying to shop and would be paying for his items. It was an extremely off putting situation that was wholly caused by this employee and even made us feel unwelcome. I don't shop in a store that treats vulnerable people with such hostility.

A shame. The staff are incompetent. The amount of MISPRICED, MISLABELED, and UNLABELED merchandise is appalling. The amount of times the staff member at the checkout is unable to scan an item because it doesn't show up is surprising. They ask "do you know the price on this? You can't buy it if it doesn't show up in our system" as if it's the shopper's fault. Then they have to run to find out, holding up the ONE line (since they can't manage to do more). The store layout is poor. The employees always forget to move baskets back from under the registers to the front door. The "manager" is mean. I love GO, so I wish this location lived up to the expectations. I'm sure GO corporate would make big changes if they visited this location.

Picked up oysters at 11:30am, Neal was super welcoming (and gave us plenty of ice!). We drove just down the road to the Coleman park picnic area (no tables at the dock). We brought our own shucking tools, but they had ones available. These are the most incredible oysters--deliciously crisp, buttery, and light, and easy to shuck. We had a little lemon and homemade mignonette, but they were so fresh and delicious they hardly needed it. They are midsize, so two dozen was the right amount for two people. It's quite a drive from LA area (3hrs 30min), but was so worth it.

I was surprised to see them being sold at some of the Whole Foods locally in California, a real bonus! This company is a reflection of coastal fishery heritage. I have friends who like to BBQ the larger shell oysters, I prefer the medium to small and raw. The 24 Gold Carrot hot sauce is a real nice accent, it does not overpower the oyster. Either you love or dislike oysters, and these are the only ones I enjoy as I'm not a huge shellfish fan, but I found a home here. Your best bet is to buy these retail from companies who sell them. I was able to have an order shipped direct and they arrived fresh and well packaged.
