I had some work done on my 2018 CVO LIMITED and a cam put in. I got a TTS Mastertune and called Geoff and scheduled a dyno tune. While tuning there was an issue that came up and he called me to discuss the the problem. He diagnosed the problem and replaced a bad crank position sensor and finalized the tune. I had just broken down on the freeway. I towed my Harley to Geoff's shop because it was near home. Upon arrival, he gave me the unfortunate news that he was backed up and wouldn't be able to look at it for a while (whoops, I probably should have called first). He offered to charge my battery and hopefully fire it up so I could ride it home and avoid another tow charge. It worked, and he also showed me an intermittent spark issue. In summary, Geoff saved me money, got me back on the road, and showed me a definite problem all with time that he didn't really have to spare. He also pointed me in the right direction on things to look at if I wanted to try to tackle this on my own. I wrote an honest and glowing report of The Cycle Doctor and Geoff Gaites, the owner back in May and I continue to be amazed and thrilled with his service. His team does everything on my year old Fat boy. I was hesitant to take it to him for such a minor thing, but I could not buy a T50 star wrench anywhere in town to be able to put my new luggage rack on with (something I could easily have done myself if I'd had the tool). He was glad to help me the same day without an appointment, though I could clearly see he was busy. And, to top it all of, I was getting ready for a long trip the next day and did not notice my back brake pads were shot after only 8,000 miles, something he caught and is also replacing within hours of my coming in, once again, with no appointment. I waited a couple of weeks after picking up my bike to write my review. I took my bike in after Thanksgiving. I had recently purchased it and it just wasn't running well. I took it in and met Geoff, he showed me the shop and explained his process and I dropped it off for a complete service and dyno. During the time Geoff had my bike he would reach out and let me know where he was and what's happening. The day I picked it up, I was excited and nervous. Upon arriving Geoff let me know what he had done and we went over some minor lighting issues that I previously told him I would repair. After firing it up, I was thrilled that it idled the way a bike should. I headed home and the motor felt like it had been completely refreshed. It was powerful through the entire band, responsive and sounded incredible. Now that I've had her back for 3 weeks I am still thoroughly impressed when I fire it up. My bike is doing what a bike should do and Thanks to Geoff and his team I no longer worry about how she'll run that day. Cycledoctor, Geoff Gaites did damage to my front wheel, my wheel is badly stained and nicked around the entire wheel. I had new tires installed. I also ordered chrome lowers for my FLHX. The chrome lowers were wavy and distorted,look like a fun house mirror, but worse I suspect a bad polish job. I told him the worst pat of all this is "that he would actually put that junk on my FLHX Geoff would not even consider backing these parts or remedy my front wheel staining and nicks. Extremely disappointed. After I told Geoff Gaites I may have to dispute my credit card charge, because he wouldn't back his parts or work, obviously this has happened before, he totally went psycho!! He jumped on my bike in the lot and tried to start my bike, nearly dropping my bike three times! When I demanded he "get off my bike" he assaulted me by striking me three times in my chest. I had to call the police to get him off my bike. I am strongly considering filing assault charges against him. Geoff is an extremely disturbed individual. He has zero eye for detail, and won't back up his work. I've disputed the payment, a hefty sum. I will see this through. If you want a shop that will do right by their work, do NOT go to cycle doctor! He is the one that needs a doctor. Ride safe! read more

Geoff is by far the best tuner that I have ever had tune any of my bikes and I'm pretty anal about who works on my bike. I had toyed with the idea of rebuilding my 01 RK and after speaking with Geoff, I decide to purchased a 2011 RGC instead. I had the dealer install a Thunderheader, bigger air cleaner and a TT Mastertuner per Geoff's suggestion. My goal was to get the motor to run better and still be reliable, so this is where Geoff suggested that I start. When I rode down to LA on 2010 to work on a project I had him pick the bike up and tun it for me. It came back with 84.6 HP and 101.3 TQ. Decent numbers for a totally stock 103" motor. He was also able to eliminate that flat torque spot that Thundeheaders are notorious for and sounds like it has an aftermarket cam in it, not to mention that it runs great. Adding a Woods 777 cam next week and planning on taking the bike back to Geoff for the tune, because IMO he's that good and worth the trip from Nor Cal. When I bought my 2016 Harley Davidson, Breakout, it was a good-looking machine but I wanted to customize it to my personal specifications and really make it pop. A fellow rider suggested that I look up Cycledoctor in Costa Mesa. He said they had been around for more than 20 years and that he had been following their Custom creations for some time. He pulled up their website and showed me the level of detail and quality in the custom Harley Davidsons and general repairs that they had been doing for two decades. So, I reached out to Geoff Gaites, the owner of Cycledoctor, and he sat down with me and asked if I knew how I wanted to personalize my Bike. Geoff took out a build sheet and we went over every detail that I wanted. A vision of something is great but then, there is reality and that's where Geoff's expertise came in play! There were a lot of modifications that had to be made and recommendations to refine things but when it was finally finished and I picked up the bike, I couldn't believe it was the same one. It was like nothing I had seen before, nothing short of spectacular. The details, the fitment and finish, It looked like I just took it off the showroom floor, but customized in every minor detail. I purchased my 2011 Forty Eight a couple years ago from a previous owner, and in the last several months it has been giving me a lot of trouble. From the moment I brought my bike to Geoff he's been incredibly helpful, and honest. I am riding a 2013 RoadKing CVO I had not ridden in a couple of years due to my 5 year old being diagnosed with Cancer. My anxiety was too high to ride but riding is what helped. My Bike had been giving me some slight issues from when I had it Dyno tuned in 2015 from a reputable tuner with a Power Commander. With those issues being present and the recent events with my son, I was not going to be able to ride until the bike was dialed in. Took my bike in to have it dyno-tuned and new pipe installed to the tune of over $2500. I trusted Geoff's recommendation of a tune and new pipe for performance as he was 'the expert'. Yea! The bike had issues ever since the tune, including poor performance, hard starts and engine pinging. More problems arose five months later that prompted me to go to Cycle Doctor to ask him to correct his work. He adamantly denied that it wasn't his tune and blamed the problems on something being loose on the bike. Geoff refused to even look at my bike unless I agreed to sign a work order for an additional $250!! What ever happened to standing behind your work??? Took my bike to another shop to diagnose the issues. They informed me that the dyno tune was totally off and the pipe that Geoff recommended "as the expert!!" was for a bike with a much larger motor, not delivering the back pressure HDs require. Needless to say, the bike needed to be re-tuned with an appropriate pipe for more, a lot more $$$. If you value your money, bike and quality work DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT!!! take your bike to this shop! read more

I first went into Cycledoctor to get input on changing my exhaust on my 2013 Street glide. Right off the bat, Geoff sat down and went over various options for me. He was patient and took his time with me even though his shop is a busy place. I got a good feel for this shop and I made an appointment to have exhaust installed, a tuner and have Geoff Dyno test and tune my bike. First appointment was in three weeks and I'm glad I waited! First, the install of my new exhaust system (Dirty Bird's Sinister Up Yours) was done perfectly. And I'm hard to please. Not a scratch on the new chrome, ceramic coating or anywhere else. Next the tune. Geoff takes his time. Even after it was done, I went back with a question on a small decell pop. He worked with me and took several test rides on my bike to "dial it in" If you look at a 2013 HD Parts & Accessories manual. Page 473. They have a chart on 103 performance: Stock HP 66. Stock TQ 81. My Dyno info is as follows: Intake: Screaming Eagle Heavy Breather Exhaust: Sinister Up yours Tuner: TTS Master Tune. Max HP 83.84 Max TQ 100.61 Increase over stock is for my bike is 17.8HP and 19.6Lbs TQ!! Needless to say, I am a VERY happy customer. My bikes got a new doctor, Cycledoctor's Geoff Gaites. read more

Took my 14 CVO Breakout to Geoff a while ago to have a sneeze diagnosed and have a dyno tune done. Geoff was slammed with work and told me it could be upwards of two weeks before he could get to it. I left my bike there for a couple weeks so he could get to it when he was able. With my work schedule if really wasn't an option to drop it off if a spot opened up on short notice. Geoff was very understanding and had no problems with my bike staying there in wait though I am sure it took up valuable shop space. Fast forward a couple weeks. I get a call from Geoff and he tells me he is having trouble getting fuel to the bike during the pull and that he wanted to investigate. Music to my ears. These days most shops and stealerships just take your money and throw parts at a bike until the problem goes away so it was good to know he wanted to dig. Not long after that he calls and tells me that my fuel pressure is about half of what it should be and likely the fuel pump. This was in line with my suspicion as the bike would turn over for a few seconds longer than normal before catching. Keep in mind this was with full amps to the batt and the starter not breaking a sweat. Once the fuel pump was squared away Geoff spent the next day or so getting the tune dialed in and verifying things with street time. The dyno tune made the bike much more fun to ride. Idles better, doesn't try to cook me at a stoplight because of the lean fuel conditions the motor company has to use to meet smog nazi regulations. Power delivery is so much smoother and there is more of it! I should note that the bike does have a Vance and Hines big radius exhaust. Not the most free flowing as exhausts go, but it works for me. Peak torque is 114.76 and 3700 RPM with the stock cams and just the exhaust. I could not be any happier with the tune that Geoff did on the bike. Top notch! As I had mentioned above, it was good to see a person and shop actually wanted to trouble shoot things instead of just take my money. Lots of dealer techs can't find their ass without a diagnostic tool these days. Well, tools can only point you in a direction, and often the limit to getting it fixed is how many parts a dealer can replace at the expense of your wallet. Geoff is as much an artist as he is a tuner. He takes personal pride and invests a lot of time to insure things are done right. It is a shame today's point and click society does not have the patience to appreciate that kind of attention to detail and thoroughness. If you want a canned tune, or a generic one size fits all map, this place is not for you. If you want a tune that will be tailor made and optimized for your bike, this is where you need to come. I called up cycle doctor since it had great reviews. I needed to get my forks taken apart for powder coat and fresh fluid put back in. Also I had new tires mounted. They quoted me one price and when I got there they raised it more than double! They said it was because my forks were adjustable for my bike. (I told them what kind of bike I had on the phone) I decided to do it anyways since I had already drove 35 miles to get it done. I pick up my stuff and take it home, one of my forks would no longer adjust. I called them and they took it back. They "fixed" it. Well it wasn't fixed, the adjusters on it wouldn't turn the right way. I contacted them again and they told me to bring them back in. I opted not to since it was so far away and I feel like it shouldn't take three tries to get it right. To top it off, my wheels were scratched... The thing that really irritated me was the attitudes there. When I dropped off my forks I asked him if he wanted the manual for them. Geoff says, "why would I need that?" I said I thought maybe he could use it since they aren't normal forks, I didn't know how much experience he had with them. His reply? "what gave you that impression." I was just trying to be nice. Ironic since they messed them up twice. Another comment he made when I brought my wheels in, I said "here ya go freshly powder coated wheels." He said, "as opposed to what?" umm... huh? Just seemed to make unnecessary comments that had a condescending ton. To top this all off, I had Harley in Fullerton do my forks the next time and it cost half the price! At a dealership! Cycledoctor ripped me off. If you followed my he said she said, my point is that this place is expensive and has an attitude problem. I won't return. I gave an addition star because they stuck by their work in trying to fix my forks. read more

I had my HD Roadglides motor rebuilt at another shop....and then tuned out in Torrence. I was having some issues so I took it to Cycledoctor. Geoff ended up retuning it which was interesting as the tuner in LA is VERY well known but Geoff was able to improve it's characteristics quite a bit. He also diagnosed a loose compensator that was making some noise and discovered some other issues. Now having spent a pocket full of cash for Geoff to identify several issues.....I was finished as I wasn't prepared to rebuild the motor AGAIN (and Geoff wasn't recommending it) as it was physically running pretty good. But Geoff did call me up and offer a substantial amount of additional help (more fine tuning and adjustment) at no addl cost to me. I'll be taking him up on it next week and I'll update as I go along....but so far....I'm wishing I'd come here much sooner....and it would seem I've found my new go to mechanic for my Road Glide. These people parts service are the worst. Cant speak to there service, which I needed, which I will not be having them do. Tom I think was the gentleman I spoke with. I go in on a Friday the 11th, to order a couple screws and aux lamp bulbs. he scribbles down my number on a post it, which I thought was awkward. he says probably should be in Monday or tues. I don't hear anything back so I call by thurs the 17th. I speak with Tom again and he says oh yea whats your number? probably scribbles it on a post it again and tells me I will call Harley right now and call you back today. Sure enough comes COB no call. I wait to call back the following week on the 22nd at 2pm and im told he's 'at lunch'. i speak with an employee that probably writes my number on a post it and says he'll him return my call. its the 29th. still no call. In the past I've had good experiences with Geoff over at cycle doctor. He has saved me money on routine maintenance by using his services over the Harley dealership. Recently he left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Took it in because my Dyna was stalling and having idling issues. Ended up paying for a bunch of unnecessary labor and an IAC motor that I didn't need. Once he figured out the issue (after him having it for a week) I had already decided to take it elsewhere. I feel ripped off and the highly experienced harley mechanic that I ended up taking it to, felt the same. In the end I had to pay almost double of what the fix should've cost me. 01 Heritage - hydraulic cam-chain tensioner upgrade, new Andrews cams, and then dyno-tuned Unbelievable results! Runs better than new!! The original issue was that my spring-loaded cam-chain tensioners were shot. Since the cams were coming out, you might as well upgrade them, right? But Harley no longer makes an upgraded cam for my motor, and they won't install a non-Harley part. The HD service guy saw the frown on my face and suggested that I go see the Cycledoctor. I knew that I had some choices, but Geoff took the time to ask me about my riding habits and what I really wanted out of the repair. Then, he explained why the cams he suggested would be the best fit for me, and how the dyno-tuning process brings it all together. I'm sure that the new bits and pieces are a nice plus, but the real art to what they do is in the dyno-tuning process. Yes there is a cost, but hey, this is a motorcycle that I plan on keeping for the rest of my life. The EFI has now been programmed to send the most efficient air/fuel mix based on the specific set up of my air intake, engine compression, and exhaust pipes. And it's been tested and adjusted across all gears and rpm's while under a load. It doesn't get any better that that! Now, I have quicker throttle response, more torque (especially at he lower rpm's that I use the most), better gas mileage, and no overrun ever. This bike never ran better, and it's all because of Geoff's passion for what he does. I would highly recommend a Cycledoctor dyno-tune to everyone that loves their bike. read more

Took my bike (03 wide glide) here for the first time because I needed a carb rejet since I removed the baffles out of my pipes and added a big sucker air cleaner. They did a great job with a fast turnaround time. Took my bike in for a second time for the hydraulic cam chain tensioner upgrade. I had it done along with the 20k mi service. HD dealer quoted me $2000. Cycledoctor did it for $2250 BUT with what follows...A complete set of upgraded Andrews cams, adjustable pushrods, carb rejet, front/rear brake pads, new clutch lever, adjusted headlight, and I did not have to wait 2 weeks for an appointment . They even sent me photos of the destroyed spring loaded cam tensioner sets before they replaced them with the hydraulic ones. This bike is better than new and absolutely fantastic now! To top it all off, you actually meet the people doing the work instead of having some random HD hire who doesn't care about anything doing the work. A close friend of mine altered my 2011 CVO Street Glide with a stage II Sleeper kit from Fullsac Performance in Az. He also ported the head and replaced the primary drive gear from a 32 tooth to 30. These changes made a huge performance improvement over the stock bike. Fullsac provided an updated fuel map so everything ran really well immediately. Per the gear change I needed to have the speedometer adjusted so I took it to Cycle Doctor. After riding the bike Geoff from Cycle Doctor convinced me there was more torque and maybe even more horsepower in the motor. He also felt he could significantly improve the overall power-band in each gear. I got the bike back when promised and I immediately noticed the improvement in how my bike ran... if anything Geoff understated the gains I could expect. I can't fully articulate the improvement as it ran pretty well with the Fullsac mapping, but I can say it as close to night and day as anything else I could convey.
