Ted's was the only place that had one on hand. I do want to give kudos to Criterium as they told me to call Ted's, and even gave me their number. Perhaps bicycle stores are the last bastion of honest competition. I got to Ted's the next afternoon and what a friendly place. They had a large family purchasing a couple of bikes for some small children so it was a bit hectic, yet they took it all in stride and found me my wheel and I was on my way. I did ask about a map of the area and was promised they would call when they got their resupply. BTW, the wheel was super reasonably priced and Ted made sure I understood the reason for the tighter than normal axle cones. Ted's is now my go-to bike shop!

They offered a test ride but we were not able to on that day. However, they rent bikes out at Garden of the Gods, and we enjoyed a guided tour, renting their bicycles and learning about them. We decided that day that we would buy Pedego e-bikes. Mark and his staff worked with us on the best fit for us and we purchased some accessories too. They were so kind and generous with their time before and after the sale, I had a lot of questions. The bikes are sturdy and well built with high quality all around. This is a tight alley way, with no real thru traffic. A man knocks on my window. As a woman with an infant in the car I think it's standard to not roll down the window. Apparently I had nearly hit this biker when I moved around the car. I admit I have a sunshade on my child's window and did not see that this almost happened. My husband rides a bike to and from work in Trinidad 8 miles a day- I absolutely care about biker safety. I would have apologized profusely, and still feel awful for my part in this, had you not been aggressive and explained I almost hit you. I would have even understood frustration because that's scary. However- BEATING on a woman's window, and calling her expletives making her feel threatened is NOT the way to go about literally anything. Can't think of one thing that warrants that behavior. Ever. No matter how mad you are. My 2 year old profoundly autistic son was in the back directly next to the window you punched on, and he still has not calmed down almost half an hour after the incident because he is terrified. To the individual : Do better, seriously. Maybe get some anger management cause what the actual heck man. I watched you unlock the store so I know you're there in some capacity. Almost hitting a biker on my part very not okay- but what you did? Worse. Traumatized my kid over something that almost happened- and didn't. Couldn't have been going more than 1 mile per hour. Ridiculous behavior.

Having one person take full responsibility for all aspects of repairs and service means that personal attention to detail is paramount, and John is a consummate professional. We brought him two mountain bikes for tune-ups, and we are very pleased with the result. One bike had a bent rear axle, and John hammered it back straight. The front wheel was bent far out of true, and John fixed that, too. The second bike rolls more quietly now, and the shifter seems more responsive. Whether you have a specific bike problem that needs repair, or if you have a vague sense that you bike needs TLC from a pro, John is your guy. We…read moreactually acquired our bikes elsewhere, but purchased various other types of gear at Old Town. We've since relied on Old Town for maintenance checks and repairs. The staff seem like die-hard bicyclists, but they also relate to "lightweights" (like us) who bike for recreation. Their repair shop is quite an operation, and has a team of folks available to handle repairs and safety checks. The selection of gear and clothing is good, as is the inventory of bikes. The store also does a good deal for the local biking community. I've noticed their bike racks around town, which encourages bike usage for basic, around-town transportation.

In my former triathlon life I could have done it but electric assist is more appropriate, especially in 45° weather. So I called after they closed but the owner picked up and helped me reserve 2 beach cruiser type bikes for the next morning. We were staying at Buffalo Lodge which is an affiliate so he bought the bikes to us. That was super convenient so we could leave our car at the lodge. We had a thorough instruction course and test ride and off we went. The bikes were well maintained and had good power. Comfortable and operated nicely. 2 hour rental was sufficient to see everything, explore a little and take lots of photos. There was a bag on the bike large enough to hold a jacket, snacks, lock, and the complimentary water. We were instructed to leave the bikes locked at our lodge and give the key to the front desk.
