Took a new but poorly assembled bike in to get corrected. These guys were super fast, friendly, and did quality work. Even charged me less than originally quoted. This is the thrift store of bicycles, at least the cramped quarters and clutter adds to this feel. Bicycle Experience does have some really really nice new and mainly used bikes. While I live no where close I would definitely drop in here if I ever need used parts for a project bike. This would be the ultimate place to go especially for you "fixie"/retro bike types. read more

I've had issues with my neck and hands for the last couple of years and came to these guys to see what might help. They went through a couple of ideas and we landed on installing Jones Bars. They didn't sell these bars at the time but were willing to establish a connection with Jones and got the bars for me. They then did the complete install to include all the adjustments needed for cables, etc. I LOVE MY JONES BARS! Has really helped me with my joints and is a more natural position for your hands and back. I've got a lot more control with these bars also, which was a surprise. More importantly I'm really happy with this shop and will be using them for all my bike needs. read more

Ok, right off the bat, if you're new to the area and looking for a good bike shop, please disregard the self-righteous/bratty/stuck up Coloradans reviewing this place with their shorts in a wad. Embarrassing, really. I can't say enough great things about this shop. 1. Location: beautiful, new, open-air shop in Ivywild-land, which, if you didn't know, is like a giant concrete hipster/millennial sandwich in the real heart of the Springs. Bike Experience is the slice of bread at the bottom: functional, necessary, and a sturdy foundation upon which to spread your greens and charcuterie. 2. Diversity of product: unbelievably on-point. Frames for all sizes, the brands you want and can even AFFORD, styles accommodating everyone from the commuter to the triathlete. No one even wants to accommodate triathletes. Come on. 3. People: Shut up, I don't care who you are, I don't care how many offshore investment accounts you have, WHEN YOU GO TO A BIKE SHOP, YOU KNOW EXACTLY THE KIND OF GUY/GAL YOU WANT TO TALK TO, and there they are: knowledgeable, laid back, cool-ly confident and most importantly engaging and helpful. Really really really helpful. 4. Scale: Remember that guy who ran a bike shop you used to live a few blocks from, and he was awesome, but half the time he was fixing your bike and half the time he was asking you if wanted to smoke weed with him out back? And he always forgot to charge you for things, but then everything was overpriced anyway? Ok. My point is that the friendly local bike shop model is awesome, but it has to have a serious business edge to it. When it gets to the point that everyone is wearing a lanyard and polos, you've gone too far. This place is far from it. It's the sweet spot. SUPPORT IT BECAUSE YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR BIKE PEOPLE IN THE SWEET SPOT SO WAL-MART DOESN'T START SELLING SPECIALIZED ROAD BIKES, OK? Just go in. Have a goddamn beer at Bristol, or a sandwich at whatever it's called, hit on some chick in a flowing dress at the farmers market (or some wannabe farmer guy in flannel if that's your pref) and waltz on by this shop. You can't not. Then, feel really f-ing good because like-minded small community local responsible etc. etc., and in a spirited moment, buy fresh lettuce and cilantro bouquet from some youth-at-risk urban garden program and ride away in a glowing haze of symbiotic bliss. From basic bikes to "retro-grouch" lugged beauties, this is worth a stop and a look-see. These guys are knowledgeable and old-school. The space is tiny, and yet I did not get a chance to inspect even a fourth of the inventory during our single, out-of-town gawk-fest. We got a folding bike in mint condition for $100, and I'd have bought a gem of a Gitane tandem if there had been any more room in or on the car. No one at this shop is in a hurry, and they love talking Velo-- that's the way things should roll in Bicycle Universe. read more

I am a fan, and I want to help the little guy and the local store. I like these guys, easy to work with, great work, and answer any question you have. But, I called down because I needed a part for a Specialized component, and they are the nearest dealer. They needed to look it up, and I left my name number, after a couple of hours, I called back. they admitted to being busy, (a good problem to have). After a full day of this, I gave up and found another dealer. My return call never came. Love the shop, but you got to follow up to keep things going! read more

Awesome bike shop! These guys really care about you and your bike. I've visited this shop 3 times since moving here (I have also visited all other bike shops in CS), and decided to make it my go to LBS. Jon (the owner) has always been in the store, and works really hard for his customers. All the employees treat everyone that walks into their cramp space with respect, and you don't get that air of supremecy you do with some of the other shops in town. They seem to do a majority of their business on repairs, but they are a Specialized dealer, so I went through them to get my new bike. Not to say they don't have a pretty big inventory of new/used bikes in all styles. Still not sure how they fit so many bikes in there, but they do and it works. Jon also collects bike frames and displays them on the walls which gives the place a cool feel. But I digress, as far as repairs go, even though I have yet to get any work done there, I have noticed a few things. All 3 times I have visited they seem to working on everything from a high end FS MTB to a 30 year old commuter bike, and without fail someone has walked in with some wierd repair request. So their expertise is vast, and the customers always seem to leave satisfied, so I look forward to getting my new bike, and my other bikes serviced there. read more

What a great experience! I have not been much of a bike rider in the past and had always bought my bikes at Target or Walmart. But I decided that this is the year I want to change up my routine and biking is the way to do it! So I decided if I was going to do this, I was going to do it right! So I drove right past Target and Walmart and headed straight to Bicycle Experience. I walked in feeling a little intimidated by all the bikes and accessories that were so foreign to me and wondered if I had made a mistake in my zeal to take on biking. Then Todd, the new owner?, took the time to ask me what kind of bike riding I planned to do. Hmmm...there are different kinds of bike riding? (You can see how far in over my head I was!) He then took the time to explain the different types of riding and how different bikes are used. Who knew?!?! He did a terrific job of explaining things in a manner I could understand so I could make an informed decision. But I never felt like he was talking down to me. He truly seemed excited for me to get involved in an activity he feels so passionately about and his enthusiasm was contagious. Owner was very helpful, cordial and conversational, gave us a more than fair deal on a trade-in we handled painlessly in about 10 minutes... and he was even good enough to minorly tune the bike a lil' bit for us before we took off... Have to say, time and again, whether I just need a new tube really quick or I'm just browsing bikes, Bike Experience is pretty good at meeting my needs and their location is in a cherry spot where many riders are spinning by a good deal. Hope they continue to get more and more road bike stuff, as I think that most people (myself included) always thought they were more of a Mountain Bike store exclusively and catered mostly to that crowd. In fact they do sell a few new model road bikes as well as used ones at a competitive price point. Great lil' Bike Shop...esp. in a pinch, and the owner seems like a swell fella. Went in to get my chain fixed and the mechanic who helped me was higher than a kite! The interpersonal skills of the employees here are slack. I had heard great things about this John character who I know is no longer associated with the business. The staff is so oblivious to their customers and it's a shame. I had the distinct honor of meeting Sonny over at the Bike Experience - Ivy Wild. I recently bought a road bike after years and years of mtn biking and bmx, i felt it was time to give it a try. I brought the bike in to be built (which was done in 15 minutes by Sonny) not only did he build it but he took the time to fit me on the bike the right way. He took the time to make several adjustments including the stem to make sure the bike was safe, fit correctly and i wasnt uncomfortable. Sonny was incredibly patient, I had several questions about road biking and the bike its self. He was incredibly honest about accessories and his knowledge about road biking over all was quite impressive. This shop was excellent when Mike and Jon owned and operated it- the current owners do not own the land and are renting it from a relative of the old owner- Today this shop has overpriced bikes especially way overpriced used bikes, and they do not listen to me well, seem to be stuck up, wrapped up in their own little world. I don't recommend going there, to buy a bike or anything else. The service is not exceptional, there are quite simply better options. They only sell specialized new for the most part, and have a limited selection of everything else. They aren't fast, or particularly reliable. They can't solve hard problems, they don't treat you well if you have a light wallet, and still will take what money you do have. I tried to buy shoes and they didn't have time for me. When test riding a bike they have the audacity to ask me to make it short and even asked questions directly about how much money I make and I quote verbatim, "that is out of your price range!" To be honest, W T F. really, in fact I had enough money to by the bike in question, but not from that place. read more

This seems like a great place, but my only experience is when I brought in my road bike to get a new tube. I have had my road bike for years and never needed to replace a tube, but after being in storage for two years, it needed it. Because I'd never needed to replace it, I didn't know what size to get. The guy at the shop said it was probably a certain size(but didn't really know), which later I saw was too big compared to the marking on the tread. Needless to say, after the tube popped out of the tire it exploded in the car on the way back to the shop. I have heard things aren't great here at all after management changed, that is unfortunate. read more

My rating went from 5 to 2 stars after the ownership changed. As someone else mentioned, no mention was made to me of some changes in policy that the previous owner had. Not a huge deal, but some of the same staff is still there, so they could have mentioned. My biggest beef is I took the bike in for a comp tune up. When I went to pick it up, I was told "that will be $65". Turns out, they did some work on my bike without contacting me first. I quit going there after that, and took my bike in for some work at another shop. The other shop pointed out an issue on my bike, which was related to the work BE did on my comp tuneup. Also, when John owned the place he was almost always there, and always smiled and asked how the bike was. I rarely saw the new owners, and when I did see them, they didnt say much if anything. The saving grace for the place is one of the mechanics. Very friendly, knowledgable, no BS person. read more

This place was awesome. Jon, the owner sold me two barely used tires for my tri-cross bike. After fooling around trying to install them myself for nearly 3 hours, I couldn't get one if them to seat properly. I returned the next day with the whole bike. Jon couldn't get it either so he refunded the one old tire and replaced it with a new one with a steep discount. I left happy. Nice to go someplace that understands good service. I went in the store this morning with my two children (2 &4). One of the wheels of my Burley Bee was flat and would not hold in air. We were greeted right away. My 4 year old son wanted to look at the "big boys" bike right away. He is too big for his Stryder and he has been wanting a big boy bike. Well, to make this short, we left the store with a fixed Burley Bee wheel and two bikes. I really just want to say that Mike and his staff were just completely wonderful. Mike took the time to show my son how to pedal the "big boy" bike. When my daughter couldn't decide on a bike, Mike was patient enough to let her have her time to get on the two bikes she was riding on. Really awesome staff. Very pleased with their service.
