Spin Classes is a new way of burning off calories. I have had the pleasure of taking several spin classes at different location. Each experience has been different for me because each location has their own perks. I was honored to take one off the Free Classes that Cycle Bar was having for the 2 week Grand Opening. Let me tell you this place is amazing. The minute I walked inside I was greeted by the owner. He was super nice and friendly. When you entered there is a place where you can check on an IPAD. Underneath, is a place with numbers and inside are pair of cycling shoes for you to wear. After you have checked in and picked up your cycling shoes the owner will take you on a mini tour. I was truly amazed. They even give you a nice red water bottle for you to fill up on water, mini cups of juice, mini muffins and fruit. Wow... The bikes were super comfortable. The instructor Libby was such a pleasure. I will be back again to take one of her classes. She was absolutely an amazing instructor. Please go in and sign up for one of her classes. See you soon CycleBar

As CycleStar Sam says, "As much fun as you can have on a bike that goes nowhere!" I've been coming almost every week since they opened this location and I recently signed up for another 20 Rides flex pass. I like the flexibility it gives me without having to pay a full drop-in rate. They also have great deals on class packs with more ride passes and unlimited ride options. If my schedule were more consistent, I'd strongly consider the Unlimited. But there's also 8 Rides or 4 Rides per month if you can't commit all of your free time to fitness. CycleBar, along with a balanced diet and other exercises, has given me great results! I'm doing a lot of things to get in shape, but I honestly believe that these classes have helped the most. I'm down 16 pounds since the New Year (almost 30 pounds total since I started cycling). I haven't been running much at gyms, but my road race times are the best they've ever been. It also doesn't hurt that it's incredibly low impact, which makes my janky knees happy. What makes or breaks it for me is the instructors. My first class was with Cami and, according to my CycleStats, she's my favorite CycleStar (don't tell the others...). I've used most of my punches for her classes, but I've also tried Kyla (recently left), Sam, Amanda, Kelley, Libby, and Robyn. They all mostly offer a Classic Ride for 45 minutes, but you'll find the occasional 60 minute session and there are often a number of themed rides throughout the week and fun monthly events. I highly recommend checking out a CycleGiving event, which raises money for great local causes. You'll very often find the owner Betty at the studio and (I'm actually horrible with names) a few regular employees managing the front desk, helping out in the CycleTheater, and keeping things in shape behind the scenes. It feels like family (even if I can't remember all of their names).

Spin class was something I have always have wanted to try and today I finally did it! I walked in and checked in at the front desk, after checking in I was able to get my cycling shoes. I was then brought over to the locker area and got ready. One of the staff members showed me how to work the locker (they provide a lock!) and then handed me a water bottle. The water dispenser is awesome, you can choose cold water, sparkling water, or at room temperature water. I then walked into the class and found my assigned bike, the set up kind of looks and feels like a movie theater but with bikes instead of seats. The staff showed me how to click my shoes into the bike and now I was ready to burn some calories! Camy was our instructor she walked in and sat in the very front of the room and guided/motivated our class. The lights dimmed and music started to play. I was afraid I'd get bored, but that did not happen, Camy pushed us and made class fun. She is engaging, and full of energy that makes the class feel so much more upbeat, she's a great instructor! I was totally shocked when out of nowhere we started to do push up and lift a bar weight while on the bike, for me, that was the most challenging part. The only thing that was somewhat confusing to me as a newbie was when we were being instructed to add resistance, I didn't know how until I noticed a girl near me turning a knob on the bike. Class was great I would love to do it again, but next time I'd bring my significant other. I know he would love this too! CycleBar felt like a workout concert party, I enjoyed it and plan on returning.

Mike was an amazing instructor and Angela was super helpful with explaining their packages!! Love it!!

I had to stop going to Zumba for several months (*tear) But as soon as I cleared post-partum and doctor gave me the OK, I went running (well, not really running) back to Lisa D's classes! (cue the Latin beats, cue the Bass) Zumba with Lisa D remains one of my favorite forms of exercise. And really, with the energy in the room and the awesome choreography by Lisa D, it doesn't feel like exercise. Lisa's routines are fun, her cueing is excellent and her energy is contagious. It's fun on so many levels. And since we're talking levels, the newcomer need not worry, you can take the class at any level of intensity, low or high impact, mild swinging of hips to all out booty shaking. The rhythm IS going to get you. And while I just quoted an oldie but a goodie by madame Estefan, the music Lisa uses is awesome--a great mix of current music, salsa, samba, meringue, swing, country, old skool--everything for everybody! She has recently expanded her class to Wednesday mornings at the DeForest Dance Studio in Elmhurst and I love the new digs. There are also many Zumba events she hosts--check out her website for the current events. Come to class, I dare you to complete a class without smiling at least once. I love Zumba with Lisa D!

There is something unpolished and cheesy about a significant number of them. Lisa D. keeps it real. She knows her stuff and shakes it like a salt shaker. I've been going to her group sessions for a year now and I've been upgraded from White to Latina. And while I've managed to drop over 35 pounds by attending her classes 2-3x a week, I've still kept my booty. Again, Latina I tell you! Seriously! You will be hard pressed to find Zumba that works you as much as Lisa's. Zumba itself incorporates many different styles of dancing, but she brings with her previous experience in yoga, hip-hop and turbokick, to name a few. You're getting a little sample of everything and working each muscle. Not to say that you won't get a decent workout with other instructors, but I just haven't found them to be as hardcore. Hate to say it, but she makes the rest of them look sloppy. Her moves are purposeful and precise. In the year I've taken Zumba, I've seen her misstep MAYBE a handful of times. She's extremely accurate and a genius with her dance routines. And while some of the moves are complicated, she executes them cleanly enough that anyone can follow if they pay attention. Almost all of her cues are visual, which I find to be quite refreshing from the happy-happy-joy-joy cheerleader shouting type teachers. I feel completely confident in giving another five sexy stars to Lisa D. and her Zumba class. I would have fallen off the weight loss wagon months ago if it weren't for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at Addison Ice Arena. I just don't think it can get any better. Well, except for when her and Zumba instructor Tom Lafser's* powers combine. *http://www.zumba.com/profiles/53877/thomas-lafser

It's by far one of the most affordable gyms around with friendly staff, professional trainers, excellent classes, a great selection of machines, equipment and facilities including pool, steam and sauna. Lately, however, some negatives have been marring the overall experience. VASA did a massive membership drive/upgrade at the end of 2025 which has increased foot traffic dramatically. It's rare to visit now and not have a wait to use machines (especially treadmills). And speaking of treadmills, there are currently 3 treadmills out of order, and it appears that 1 or 2 are missing, given the spacing in the first row of machines. My second and bigger criticism is the subpar housekeeping, specifically the men's locker room toilets. There has been an ongoing issue with at least one toilet being clogged by paper and waste. And often multiple stalls with no toilet paper. There has been one stall marked "out of order" for a week. Yesterday and today there was another toilet clogged, and the other two stalls with no paper. Other times I've seen toilets clogged and water that has overflowed. Really disgusting to walk through that! Overall, I give this gym 4 stars for equipment and facilities offered. Sadly, they deserve 1 star for maintenance and housekeeping.

I'm thinking in my head there is no competition. You have nothing to offer here. It's not even a question. Happy to return to my home gym tomorrow, where there is everything I want and more It was nice to try a class out, but I would never come back here not to mention The class was probably 80 something degrees with no fans going inside the room.

For our family, WSC serves multiple purposes. My husband is an active tennis player who tries to play at least twice a week. Considering how brutally cold Chicago winters are, it wouldn't be feasible to play outdoors during the winter months. So with WSC, he has been able to find a community of players to play throughout the winter. On the weekends, my husband would give our young girls and cousins private tennis lessons. There are four, all year-round, indoor courts, and eight dome courts for the winter. We have been consistently going every weekend for the last four months and have yet to encounter any availability issues. In addition to tennis, our girls have also joined the swimming lessons. For level 3, there are usually 2-4 instructors. Thus far, we have had a good experience with Ms. Abby, Mr. Christopher, and Ms. Christina. The class size is generally around 8-12 kids depending on attendance. Knowing how young children are, it takes a ton of effort and patience to get them to listen to instructions. Huge kudos to these instructors for having that high-level patience! As for myself, I would utilize the gym equipment such as treadmills, ab machines, and weights. All of the equipment are well maintained and clean. WSC could get busy on the weekends but I have not had trouble with machine availability. All in all, WSC is a solid place for anybody looking for a place to play indoor tennis, have young children who are interested in swimming, and/or just trying to maintain healthy life choices.
