As a BMX family we have been to just about ever bike shop in the area. I wish I found this place sooner. Jeff is incredibly helpful and dedicated to service. Super quick turnarounds. Other reviews said they don't service bikes that aren't theirs and that can not be further from the truth. They fix all bikes and will even pack for shipping if you need. Best e bikes in town, best prices. Franck helped me with the selection, then I tested it, road around the parking lot, he showed me how to use the gears and the levels of pedal assist. Then, I bought one and he added the phone holder, the bell, the light and the basket that same week. It's a great life changing concept having an e bike. So, now I own 3!!! Picked up a gravity X-rod step thru e-bike. I am loving it, very pleased. Got it up to 29+ mph with not too much effort. Some of the original hardware had to be tightened up on the battery housing and seat but other than that a great bike. Already had two flats from beach thorns and Cycle spectrum replaced them and only charged me for parts. Very knowledgeable and helpful customer service. No complaints. read more

My wife's brand new white Vivi ebike rear tube went flat on a 1/2 mile test ride. Cycle Spectrum in Melbourne, FL fixed it in 1/2 hour, while I waited. 2 days later, the exact same thing happened to my brand new black Vivi ebike. Took Cycle Spectrum 2 days and several excuses to sort of fix it. They separately handed the bike's derailleur guard back to me, claiming a bike defect prevented remounting. When I got home, it took me 1/2 hour to remount it. There was no defect. When I double-checked my wife's bike repair, I also had to re-route the motor power cable to safety back behind the guard. We bought our bikes online through Amazon and Vivi Direct, not from Cycle Spectrum. read more

He is very professional and knows his product, he also does great work on the bikes. I have followed this business from Orlando to Melbourne and have purchased additional bikes during that time. They have the best selection of bikes and a big selection on bikes online that you can purchase and Spectrum Cycle will assemble and you pick it up at the store. They also service without charge. To be honest, I don't remember exactly when I bought my bike from Cycle Spectrum. I thought it was in 1998 when they first opened, but based on some research I did on my bike model, it may have been as late as 2000 or 2001. Regardless, it has been AT LEAST 12 years (as of this review) since I bought my bike from them. They have long since stopped selling not just my bike model, but anything from the company that made it. And I remember the owner telling me back then that if I bought the bike there, I would get lifetime free labor for all work done on that bike at his shop. The reason that I mention all of this is because I've always believed that certain allowances should be made by customers of small, local shops and restaurants to account for the fact that we're all human beings when it comes down to it. People make mistakes, times change, all that stuff. And so the last couple of times that I have walked into this shop (it's probably about every two to three years, for a flat tire or a tune-up), I have fully expected that at some point it will have just been TOO long. Maybe they won't remember that well over a decade ago, they sold this particular make and model of bicycle. They'll ask for a receipt to show that I bought the bike here, and of course I lost that just a few months after buying it. Turns out: Nope. Maybe they've been tracking the serial numbers of all the bikes they've ever sold? I don't know. They don't even ask, they just give me my bike back without charging me for labor. I just brought it in this week for a flat tire that needed a new tube, as well as a long overdue tune-up. All of that was taken care of in professional fashion, the bike looks and rides just like it did when I first bought it. Total cost? $6 for parts (the new tube). They've been in business since 1998, which means they're still happily holding up their end of the Free Labor bargain for bikes bought 15 years ago -- you know it's not just a gimmick. Guess I am now a "biker". LOL Frank was extremely patient and knowledgeable and was able to answer all our questions without a hint of irritation in his voice. Ended up purchasing 2 Fuji bikes and am really happy with them. The shop specializes in closeout bikes, so the customer gets an excellent bike at half the cost. They don't carry too many accessories, but you save enough money that you can go shopping and buy some gear elsewhere. read more

I bought just the right comfort bike for me and Franck is the reason why. Perhaps he can spot a "frugal" shopper from a mile away :) Also, I was buying a cheap bike for my son at another store, before even agreeing, Franck offered to make any adjustments and tighten anything on his bike as well! Let me remind all those that look at ratings on yelp, 10 is too few to make a determination on a business! (at the time of this post 10 ratings 3.5 stars) I say this because this is a really great bike shop and you might choose to pass it over because there are some 4 star+ in the area. Things to know: 1. Price 5/5 - excellent, the bike I got was a nice comfort bike and lower price than anywhere in the area. Not to mistake, this isn't a "low end" bike shop, there are plenty of higher priced bikes here, I'm just cheap 2. Quality of service 5/5 - Mentioned in a couple of reviews, this shop offers free labor for life. It's been around for 15+ years, and no sign of it going out, that in and of it self is enough. Where this shop goes over and above is their ability to give advice, understand their customer and respond appropriately. When I asked about a level up Franck was courteous enough to tell me that "I'm not going to put you in a higher price, you will pay $100 and not notice any difference". Now tell me the last time you went somewhere and did not get upsold for no reason. 3. Speed of service 2/5 - you will see other reviews that will complain about it. I won't sugar coat it, this shop is not fast at all. But it all depends on what you are looking for, in this "hurry up and wait" world we are in, everyone seems to be on a race to nowhere. The couple times I've been in now I've only seen Franck and one other (who's name escapes me), the shop has been fairly busy both times, but that's not the only reason. They aren't exactly running a completely organized and efficient workplace. They know a ton about bikes and have enjoyed enough success to stay open all these years, so take this as you will, if you are an impatient person, you may find you don't like this. 4. Quality of product - 5/5 - if you made it this far into the review, props to you! I'll make this quick, the bikes work, and if they don't, they will fix/adjust for free. Last, thing I want to mention, the level of shop. I have read some reviews that said this was a "beginner shop". Perhaps it is, I am a beginner, however I would argue walmart is the beginner shop and this is definitely above that. There are name brands here, the shop seems to lean on some less recognized ones, but they aren't the big box store brands. So if you do need some professional level bike I'm sure they can at the very least advise if they don't carry it. Both individuals I have dealt with were very knowledgeable about riding. As a person riddled with buyers-remorse (back to being frugal), I have happy with my purchase and this shop. I recommend you check it out. read more

I bought my road bike 8 years ago along with 3 of my friends because of the motobecane brand value and the lifetime service you get from them. I started riding again after a 2 year layoff and found the derailer cables shot, I brought the bike in and "Frenchie" took care of me he replaced the cables and wrapped the the handle bars. Very pleased and the bike runs great. If you are going to buy a bike consider the value of the bike and also the service, you can't go wrong with spectrum in Waterford Lakes for both! read more

Needed a new axle for my wheel. It usually takes about 10min to change something like that. Ended up getting it done 3 weeks later. Had to visit the shop 2 times prior to remind them of it. The owner ended up charging me $32 for an axle he took from some other bike. Least store I'd go to from now on I'd rather drive 40min away to the next closest one. read more

We purchased 2 bikes about 3 years ago from this shop. We had some maintenance issues that needed fixed. We took the bikes back to the shop to have the issues taken care of fully expecting a bill for the repairs. One of the repairs was a flat tire (my fault not the shops) We went back a few days later to pick up the bikes and not only were the bikes in GREAT operation, they didn't charge us anything for the repairs. I would definitely purchase from this bike shop again. They had excellent customer service!!!! We will be back to purchase our next bikes and will highly recommend this shop to all our friends and family read more

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable I will give them that. But they do not know how to run a business, communicate with customers or themselves. Brought in my bike for complete tune up. Gears weren't shifting properly. Also asked for new handles, new tubes, tube liners. Asked if it was worth it or I should just look into new components. Obviously willing to spend more money. They insisted they would let me know but try to save me the money. 4 days later was called to pick up bike. Upon arrival the new handles were on and both tires were flat. When I asked if it was actually ready because it clearly wasn't, they took it in the back and realized they didn't put new tubes and liners in. Frank called said bike was ready but clearly did not talk to the employees. Or work off a work order. 3 days later called again to pick up bike. Came in and it's not shifting all the way through. Left bike there. 3 days later called again and finally the bike was ready to be picked up. Rode the bike 2 times and the tires weren't holding air and It stopped shifting smoothly. Brought the bike back in. Asked if they could put normal tubes in not the special valve tubes. They said of course and they check on the shifting as well. Called 4 days later to pick up bike. Tubes were not changed. He apologized because employee and frank would call while the other would work on the bike and that's why they weren't communicating. He wasn't able to change one of the tubes because he didn't have the right tool (which blew my mind). Told him to give me the tube I'd do it at home then. Also mentioned that the shock under the seat was loose. And he said he could tighten it if he had the correct tool. I was fed up and left. Got home and discovers they stripped the bolts and spacer to keep the shock in place. Went back to the bike shop and conveniently frank didn't remember who I was or my bike (I have performance mountain bike that's yellow and a few years old, very uncommon). And asked what I was accusing him of. Stormed out. Happy to pay more money for services done correctly. Don't go here. Horrible customer service. Doesn't know how to run a business a proper business. They know bikes they don't know people. It's a joke. read more

Very disappointed... I brought my bike in for some wrench work (new shifters, bent hanger, fresh cables and bar tape) two weeks ago. I was up front and explained that while I could do the work myself, I was going to be out of town for a week and hoped to have a nice refreshed ride when I returned. We discussed the scope of work and I told them to call me if they had any questions. The full week went by without a call, and when I tried to call and see what was going on, nobody answered the phone. Twice. Came back after my business trip to find that nobody had touched my bike. Shifters needed replacing and they didn't have them in stock. Good thing I went in to see what was going on, because Frank didn't believe it when I told him I called and couldn't get anybody on the phone. At any rate, parts were ordered (so I was told), and we agreed on a price for the work - well over $200, not cheap. Parts should be in on Friday, work done by Saturday (but we'll call you) they said. Saturday came without a call, so I stopped by again. I was surprised to find that nobody had touched my bike for another week, and nobody called me either. Turns out those shifters still hadn't come in. Which we found out because somebody thought it was a good idea to first START looking for them when I showed up at the door. At this point I'm less disappointed that nobody did any of the OTHER work, because it's easier for me to just pick up my bike and leave at this point. The people are all very nice there, but if you're not interested in buying a new cut-rate bike from China it seems like nobody is really interested in your business. Matter of fact, the first time I met Frank (one week into my two week journey of nobody doing anything), he tried to talk me into buying a new bike, instead of getting mine repaired... partly because they provide "free lifetime service" when you buy a bike there. OK, no problem - everybody needs to make a buck I guess. But I gotta tell you - when your half-price Chinese bike needs service after a while, I hope you have better luck at this place than I did. No communication + no service = no stars. read more

Just purchased my third & fourth bike from Cycle Spectrum. The first two were purchased 13 years ago. Walked into the store and was surprised to see the guy who sold me the first two. Franck sold me the original two Motobecane Elite FS bikes. He worked with us extensively to find the best new bikes for our needs. His knowledge of the various bikes was impressive. We were able to customize the seats and order the right extensions to raise the handle bars to the right level since we are both tall. He had to order both bikes and parts on Monday and they arrived on Thursday. We picked them up on Saturday and everything was just as promised. We usually ride 20 to 30 miles on Saturdays on the West Orange Trail. We love the bikes. They have been perfect! Thanks to Franck for good quality bikes and his excellent personalized service. Motobecane is a good quality brand. Even the two that are 13 years old still ride great. read more

I bought a bike from this place two weeks and two days ago. Spent over $400. The manager, Justin told me he ordered it and it would be ready in three days. I still have no bike. I have been up there four times and kept being told that it would be in soon. Yesterday my boyfriend went up there to try to pick it up for me and Justin said it had just gotten there and was still in the box. He said the technician would be in that night and I could pick it up today. I went up there again today with my boyfriend and the technician was extremely agitated and yelling at us about his frustration with Justin and basically told us there was nothing he could do. I asked to have my money back and he told me only Justin could do that. I then asked if I could take another bike instead that was the same exact bike but a different color and he told me I could not do that and that only Justin could do that but Justin was supposed to have come in earlier today but never showed up. Great bikes with great prices. If you buy a bike here, they offer lifetime free service, which is really pretty awesome. The bikes not really name brand, but more like white label versions for the store. They do use top notch components. The bottom line is the price is way lower than a brand name bike. read more

Very awesome place to shop for a bike. Also the GM for the store was very pleasant and engaging about describing all the different bikes and what sizes fit what kind of people. I actually learned more about bikes in the time I was there, than any point before this time. I didn't know there were so many nuances to the bike game. I was impressed with the knowledge that was displayed. It is a small shop, but I guess how big do you expect a bike shop to be? Great tune up for a great price! The owner is NOT super nice, but everyone else I've spoken to IS very, very nice. Place is very busy and my bike took about two months for changing wheels and replacing a pedal. However, I was not in a hurry, so that was fine. If the owner wanted to make a positive impact on his business, it would be a more reliable intake/call back/scheduling system. In fact, the time would not have bothered me, if they had a reasonable "under-promise, over-deliver" timeframe estimate. read more

You can find great deals on bikes online - but you should always take your purchase to a local bike shop (LBS) for building and fitting. What is AWESOME about Cycle Spectrum is you can get the best Internet prices on EXCELLENT bikes in store with free tune ups and service for life. The staff here is excellent. The manager is fabulous. We've purchased three bikes here and will purchase every future bike here until I can't cycle any more. Seriously... I went to the the bike shop as a last resort because every other bike shop within my 550 dollar budget were sold out. I ended up choosing the gravity hd trail and absolutely love this bike. Feels identical to the giant talon 3 and he had it on sale for 400 dollars. Lifetime warranty on the frame and 1 year on the bikes components. What made me choose this shop is Frank was very helpful and straight to the point. He had a wealth of knowledge. Customer service was on par. I always recommend to do your research before purchasing a bike. My opinion on others having an issue with the level of service at the bike shop is they are not use to other cultures because of not having the opportunity to travel the world. As an American and being prior service and living all over the world I can assure you I have opened my eyes and have been put in my place. One example is foreigners live a relaxed lifestyle and everything closes by like 5pm because they are more family oriented and cherish this. Only reason why I gave 4.5 stars is because I paid part cash and credit and was charged the full price on my credit card. Could have been an honest mistake but if I wouldn't have caught the mishap and left it would have been difficult to convince of overpaying. Overall I'm satisfied. read more
